  6. 0:18And the philosophies of this world.
  7. 0:20God has called you and me to be His ambassador.
  8. 0:24Even in this dark moment.
  9. 0:26Let's not miss our moment.
  10. 0:28and now the Hamilton Corner.
  11. 0:32Celebrating God, celebrating America.
  12. 0:36Hi, Alex MacFarlane here.
  13. 0:37We've got a great show today.
  14. 0:39I'm very honored to be sitting in for Pastor Attorney
  15. 0:42Broadcaster, Abe Hamilton III, on this edition
  16. 0:46of the Hamilton Corner.
  17. 0:47And if you've listened to me much at all,
  18. 0:49maybe it was our AFR show exploring the word
  19. 0:53that has heard live Monday through Friday.
  20. 0:56and now in its probably either 16th or 17th year.
  21. 1:01And then I have the privilege of being on the Hamilton corner
  22. 1:04on a fairly regular basis,
  23. 1:06and the Lord's allowed me to write a number of books.
  24. 1:09And much of what I write about
  25. 1:11are the spiritual foundations of our country.
  26. 1:14If you've followed my heart communication,
  27. 1:18you know I love this nation, I mean, I really do.
  28. 1:21And as we approach our 250th birthday,
  29. 1:25The guest that we're going to converse with tonight
  30. 1:28is really the personification of where my heart is,
  31. 1:33patriotically, to revisit the spiritual foundations
  32. 1:36of our nation.
  33. 1:38And we're gonna talk about that,
  34. 1:39but I wanna give a verse,
  35. 1:41and then later on in the show we'll take calls as well.
  36. 1:43But in Ezekiel 22,
  37. 1:46Ezekiel 22,
  38. 1:48Israel had fallen into great sin,
  39. 1:51and it so mirrors our day in which we live.
  40. 1:54I mean, there was immorality just unspeakable.
  41. 1:58I mean, you'll have to read it for yourself.
  42. 1:59Read Ezekiel 22, say, 20 through 30.
  43. 2:04And there was idolatry, there was paganism,
  44. 2:08there was violence and murder so much
  45. 2:11that God called Jerusalem a, quote, bloody city.
  46. 2:15But then there was incest, there was disrespect
  47. 2:19and murder of parents.
  48. 2:21In other words, it was a society that,
  49. 2:24in many ways like our own had lost its spiritual foundations.
  50. 2:28And the word of God says, I sought for someone
  51. 2:31to stand in the gap, to intercede,
  52. 2:34and to call out sin, to speak up truth,
  53. 2:37that I might not destroy the land.
  54. 2:40It says, but I found no one.
  55. 2:43Now, as we do the show tonight, I'm praying
  56. 2:45that if the Spirit of the Lord were seeking
  57. 2:47for someone to stand in the gap, to pray,
  58. 2:50to get on their knees and intercede,
  59. 2:52to say, I believe in God and His Word.
  60. 2:56I'm going to stand for truth.
  61. 2:58I pray that the Spirit of the Lord would find many willing hearts, lives, and voices.
  62. 3:05And I think after we talk with our guest, you're going to feel very inspired to do the
  63. 3:09same.
  64. 3:10Her name is Cynthia Scott.
  65. 3:12She's author of a book celebrating God, America's founder.
  66. 3:17And to get us ready for something we'll celebrate in just a couple of weeks, our 250th birthday
  67. 3:23they are guests tonight, Christian and Patriot, Cynthia Scott.
  68. 3:28Cynthia, thanks for being with us.
  69. 3:31It's wonderful to be here.
  70. 3:32Thank you.
  71. 3:32Loved what you just said.
  72. 3:34Loved it.
  73. 3:35To God be the glory.
  74. 3:36To God be the glory.
  75. 3:39I'd love to share some time my story of what God did in my heart
  76. 3:43to put within me such a fire for revival in America.
  77. 3:47But I want to hear your story.
  78. 3:49How did God bring you to speak and write and message the way that you so effectively do
  79. 3:56for speaking up about the spiritual DNA of our country?
  80. 4:01Well, that goes back a while, Alex.
  81. 4:06I think it was back in 2008 when God laid it on my heart.
  82. 4:10I live in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and that we needed as a nation to repent of our sins
  83. 4:17and to hold a solemn assembly.
  84. 4:19And nobody was really talking much about it then,
  85. 4:23but God made it very clear to me
  86. 4:25that we were a nation that needed to repent.
  87. 4:27And so I prayed about that, I worked towards that.
  88. 4:31God, as I studied revivals,
  89. 4:34I realized that repentance and prayer always preceded them,
  90. 4:38and my heart was for God to revive the church
  91. 4:41and to bring a spiritual awakening to America.
  92. 4:44And that's almost 20 years ago when you think about it
  93. 4:47and things have actually changed a lot since then.
  94. 4:50One of the good things that has changed in my opinion
  95. 4:53is that this message that we, God's people,
  96. 4:57need to repent is growing.
  97. 5:00God is putting that in the hearts of more and more people.
  98. 5:03And about six years ago, God laid it on my heart
  99. 5:08to pray for the nation out of the history of the nation.
  100. 5:11I'd read some books about God's hand in our founding
  101. 5:14and they were very inspirational.
  102. 5:15They were history books.
  103. 5:17But God was asking me to pray from that history
  104. 5:20and to remember his mighty acts in America.
  105. 5:24You know, the Bible says remember the mighty acts of God,
  106. 5:27but we don't often think about remembering
  107. 5:28in terms of our own history.
  108. 5:30And so I did that.
  109. 5:32I began to write these prayers.
  110. 5:33We held them, we prayed them at congregational prayer meetings
  111. 5:37outside because it was COVID and it was,
  112. 5:40and you know, the church was closed
  113. 5:41for a small short period of time.
  114. 5:43And when I got to about the fourth or fifth prayer,
  115. 5:46I realized that God himself is our founder
  116. 5:49and he does not get the co-deserves.
  117. 5:52And perhaps that is our greatest national sin
  118. 5:56because if we acknowledged him
  119. 5:58and gave him the credit, the glory,
  120. 6:00and the obedience really that he deserves,
  121. 6:04then perhaps we would not be in need of such repentance.
  122. 6:08Indeed, indeed.
  123. 6:10Isn't it amazing that our founding father
  124. 6:13was the heavenly father?
  125. 6:15I mean, I love George Washington.
  126. 6:17And by God's grace, it's been my privilege
  127. 6:20to teach political science, American history,
  128. 6:23written a number of books.
  129. 6:25I love George Washington, our first president,
  130. 6:28you know, so often called the founding father,
  131. 6:30but like you point out, the heavenly father
  132. 6:33was America's founding father.
  133. 6:36Yes, I love Washington also, Alex.
  134. 6:39And I think part of the reason that I love him
  135. 6:42is because it's so evident to see God's hand on him.
  136. 6:46The hand divine providence.
  137. 6:48And it's stirring, isn't it, when we see God move,
  138. 6:51in any regard, but when we think about what God did
  139. 6:54through that man and others,
  140. 6:56to bring about the greatest nation
  141. 6:58that the world has ever known,
  142. 6:59it is really astonishing.
  143. 7:02Well, it really is in the life of George Washington,
  144. 7:06how multiple times there were assassination attempts
  145. 7:10his life and just in the providence of God he was spared. Cynthia, in your research did
  146. 7:17you ever come across a book, The Faith of Our Founding Father by an author named Janice
  147. 7:23T. Connell? Did you ever see that book? No, I have not. We interviewed her. This has
  148. 7:29been, I'm going to say 10 years ago, but out of Washington's prayer journals, and this
  149. 7:35This is very important.
  150. 7:37If anybody ever says to you listeners, well, the founders who are secularists or deists,
  151. 7:42they weren't really Christians.
  152. 7:45Janice Connell, this author, she just took verbatim from Washington's own prayer journals
  153. 7:53the way that he would write morning and evening prayers.
  154. 7:57Verbae is like this, and then I want you to comment.
  155. 8:00George Washington would write,
  156. 8:02Heavenly Father, before whom I may appear,
  157. 8:06only wrapped in the robes of righteousness
  158. 8:09of thy dear son, Jesus.
  159. 8:11That's how George Washington would write a prayer,
  160. 8:17wrapped in the robes of righteousness of thy dear son,
  161. 8:19Jesus.
  162. 8:20That doesn't sound like an atheist or agnostic, does it?
  163. 8:25No, or even a deist.
  164. 8:27No, it does not.
  165. 8:28I mean, clearly Washington was a Christian.
  166. 8:31And for instance, I don't know,
  167. 8:33people wanted to write that out of our history.
  168. 8:36And it's really important that we go back and remember.
  169. 8:38And that sounds like a fascinating book.
  170. 8:40I will look for it.
  171. 8:42And these personal accounts are really what matter, right?
  172. 8:46We know what his heart was.
  173. 8:48We know that he encouraged his soldiers to go to services.
  174. 8:53We know he had a heart for their suffering
  175. 8:55and sought the Lord on behalf of them.
  176. 8:58and Mollie Forge, so many things.
  177. 9:00And we know he had a praying mother, right?
  178. 9:02And praying wife.
  179. 9:04And the other thing that astonishes me,
  180. 9:07I know I keep using that word, but it's true, it's stunning.
  181. 9:10The last time that George Whitfield preached was 1770,
  182. 9:15that is just six short years
  183. 9:17before the Declaration of Independence.
  184. 9:19So our founding fathers, including Washington,
  185. 9:23were raised in this God consciousness
  186. 9:26coming out of the first great awakening.
  187. 9:28And what I've heard, and Alex, you may have heard the same thing,
  188. 9:32that many of these historians say, well, they
  189. 9:34don't refer to Christianity in the same terms that we do.
  190. 9:37No, but they had such a god consciousness
  191. 9:40that they would use terms like divine providence
  192. 9:43in the hand of God, meaning the very same things
  193. 9:46that we mean by God's activity in our midst.
  194. 9:49So it is wonderful to look back and revisit the truth
  195. 9:54about Washington and the truth about our founding.
  196. 9:58You mentioned George Whitfield,
  197. 10:00and Whitfield is one of the just vitally important figures.
  198. 10:06And you also referenced the first great awakening,
  199. 10:08which is so important.
  200. 10:11And by the way, if you're just tuning in folks,
  201. 10:14I'm kind of like a kid at Christmas
  202. 10:16because we're talking about God and country,
  203. 10:18and our guest is author and Christian patriotic figure
  204. 10:23I've got a book from about a hundred years ago, Cynthia,
  205. 10:28called Revivals in the Midst of the Years.
  206. 10:31And it was talking about the first Great Awakening
  207. 10:34and then the things that contributed to the American Revolution
  208. 10:38and then other Great Awakening.
  209. 10:40I've got a quite a I want to share, but first I'm going to throw this out to you before our first break.
  210. 10:45What role did prayer play in the building up the American Revolution,
  211. 10:51Revolution sustaining the Continental Army through the battle with Britain, the battle
  212. 10:56for our independence.
  213. 10:58Tell us and help us understand and appreciate the role of prayer in the birthing of this nation.
  214. 11:04Well, I think it's really important to understand the role of prayer in the life of a Christian,
  215. 11:11because prayer is communion with the Father.
  216. 11:14Prayer is calling on the greatest power in the universe to come to our aid.
  217. 11:21And that's exactly what happened in this existential battle of the Revolutionary War.
  218. 11:27In fact, it happened 150 years prior, going back to the time of the pilgrims and the Puritans.
  219. 11:33When they left everything they knew in search of a land where they could worship God.
  220. 11:38I mean, imagine how they prayed on the Mayflower.
  221. 11:41I just think about the existential threats that they faced, which caused them to fall on their
  222. 11:47knees.
  223. 11:48It's just a part of who we are as Christians.
  224. 11:51And if we are Christians that don't pray, then we are missing.
  225. 11:55We are missing so much in terms of our relationship with God through Christ and also calling on
  226. 12:02Him as I said, the one for whom nothing is impossible to come to our aid.
  227. 12:07So as I look back at that season of the revolution of the creating of the greatest nation the
  228. 12:14world has ever known, we know that pastors encourage their people to pray.
  229. 12:19We know that families prayed.
  230. 12:20We know that the leaders prayed.
  231. 12:22We know that the Continental Congress prayed, right?
  232. 12:25And the Constitutional Convention.
  233. 12:27They did not just pray in private.
  234. 12:30They prayed in public.
  235. 12:32And I think that's also something that is extremely important.
  236. 12:36And that's why I liked that Rededicate 250.
  237. 12:39I was thrilled that Trump called for the nation to be rededicated to God because these public
  238. 12:44times of national prayer and repentance are critical to a nation.
  239. 12:50Well, they really are, and that was May 16 and 17.
  240. 12:53I mean, think about it, folks.
  241. 12:55And I think about some of the Christian leaders
  242. 12:57like Franklin Graham and others that were there,
  243. 13:00rededicating ourselves, being on record to reaffirm
  244. 13:05our founding spiritual DNA.
  245. 13:08Now, we've got a brief break coming up,
  246. 13:09and folks, later on in the program,
  247. 13:11we're going to take questions.
  248. 13:12But Cynthia, do you have a website?
  249. 13:14Tell us about your book or books,
  250. 13:16where they can find them and give your website
  251. 13:18for this first break please. Yes, the website is GodourFounder.com. The book
  252. 13:25combines both history and prayer for the nation so it doesn't just look back on
  253. 13:30God's hand in the nation but it engages the reader as they read chapter by chapter
  254. 13:36with that same God who founded this nation to work in their lives and in the
  255. 13:40future of our nation. Celebrating God our founder. You know I mentioned a book
  256. 13:45about revival that I've got and folks think about this and then it maybe will give hope
  257. 13:50for the times in which we live.
  258. 13:52In 1741 there was a Presbyterian missionary that was in the colonies and we're talking
  259. 13:59thirty-five years before the declaration and it was a very rough time, a lot of violence,
  260. 14:05immorality, darkness, this particular missionary said, verily as these people seem to care little
  261. 14:12for God, God seems to care little for them.
  262. 14:15The whole of this people as I see it," said this Presbyterian missionary.
  263. 14:20This people is ripe either for a manifestation of God's grace or God's judgment.
  264. 14:28That's America 2026, I think, either God's mercy or God's judgment.
  265. 14:33Stay tuned to Hamilton Corner with Alex McFarland.
  266. 14:35A very special guest sent the Scott celebrating God, America's founder.
  267. 14:41a brief break, much more content, plus your calls and questions on this edition of the
  268. 14:46Hamilton Quarter.
  269. 14:47They'll go away.
  270. 14:48A discipleship minute with Joseph Parker.
  271. 15:04He who dwells in the secret place of the most high shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
  272. 15:09I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, and Him.
  273. 15:14I will trust Psalm 91 verses 1 and 2.
  274. 15:17In a perilous world, so many people are afraid.
  275. 15:21They're fearful.
  276. 15:22In a world where inner cities and many other communities are just simply dangerous places
  277. 15:27to be.
  278. 15:28We see the drug trafficking, human trafficking, muggings, murders, physical and sexual abuse.
  279. 15:34There is a place of safety in this world and it's found in God.
  280. 15:38It's found in that secret place, that intimate relationship with God.
  281. 15:42No one can protect you like God can.
  282. 15:45But it's important for us to do our part to appropriate, to place ourselves in that secret
  283. 15:50place.
  284. 15:51Praying Psalm 91 every day is a very wise thing
  285. 15:54for all believers to do.
  286. 15:56No one can protect you like God can.
  287. 16:06Shining light into the darkness,
  288. 16:08this is the Hamilton Corner, an American family radio.
  289. 16:13The great reformer, Martin Luther, would love Cynthia Scott
  290. 16:16because even during the Protestant Reformation,
  291. 16:18Luther was kind of a legend in his own lifetime.
  292. 16:22And someone once told Martin Luther,
  293. 16:23you're the greatest reformer.
  294. 16:25And Martin Luther said, no.
  295. 16:28The greatest reformer of all time would be he who sets the church a praying.
  296. 16:34And I apply that to Cynthia Scott because she has organized so many prayer groups and so
  297. 16:40many prayer initiatives on the part of America.
  298. 16:43And so she's with us now.
  299. 16:45Cynthia, thanks for being with us tonight.
  300. 16:47But most importantly, thanks for just having the courage and the faithfulness to tell our
  301. 16:52nation and individuals like myself, things that we need to hear.
  302. 16:57blessings on you, dear reformer.
  303. 17:00Well, I don't know if I'd go that far and your praise is a little high, but I will say
  304. 17:06that we underestimate the God to whom we pray.
  305. 17:12It's not Alex that prayer works.
  306. 17:15It's that God responds to the prayers of his people.
  307. 17:19And I can't stress that enough because are we calling on him for every single thing that
  308. 17:26we need?
  309. 17:27He is the greatest power in the universe.
  310. 17:30And I do hope, I mean, nothing, nothing thrills me more than to encourage people to cry out to him individually and together.
  311. 17:38And it's not hard to do. It's a conversation.
  312. 17:41You know, I have a morning prayer group that the Lord laid it on my heart to pray every day for the nation.
  313. 17:48I didn't know I was going to do that.
  314. 17:50And so I got a Zoom link from the church. I gathered a dozen or so friends.
  315. 17:55and we have not missed a day, Alex,
  316. 17:56and we pray every single day, Christmas, New Year's,
  317. 18:00the weekends, and we just gather on Zoom.
  318. 18:03We're gathering daily in the temple,
  319. 18:05and it has been such a lifeline for those of us
  320. 18:09that have been on it, and we have seen so many prayers answered,
  321. 18:12both national prayers and personal prayers.
  322. 18:15I really want to encourage your listeners and viewers
  323. 18:20to just stop and think, how can I pray more?
  324. 18:25How can I become closer to God?
  325. 18:27Because it wasn't just those famous founders
  326. 18:31that we look back on that were responsible
  327. 18:34for the creation of this nation.
  328. 18:35Just think about how many hundreds of thousands
  329. 18:38of regular, godly people were praying,
  330. 18:43were living obediently and working towards freedom
  331. 18:47to bring forth this amazing nation.
  332. 18:49every single person matters, every single prayer matters.
  333. 18:54And it's really the people, we the church,
  334. 18:57and we have this amazing God who offers us,
  335. 19:02anything you ask, according to my will, I will do it.
  336. 19:05Where two or more agree, I am with you, I will do it.
  337. 19:09This is the God that invites us to work with him
  338. 19:13in this moment in time.
  339. 19:15And I would like to say we are living in an astonishing moment in time.
  340. 19:22Amen.
  341. 19:22200 years of the greatest nation the world has ever known.
  342. 19:27The only constitution that has preserved freedom as long as ours has.
  343. 19:33And I believe that God is trying to get our attention.
  344. 19:37He's trying to say, think about this moment.
  345. 19:39Look to me at this moment.
  346. 19:41don't just look to the past, but look to the future and see what I will do.
  347. 19:48If God is the founder of America, and I agree with you, I believe he is,
  348. 19:54let's ask this question, the God of the Bible, the biblical God, why would he have raised up this
  349. 19:59nation? I have my own ideas, but Cynthia Scott, what do you say? Why did God initiate, sustain,
  350. 20:08birth and bless America.
  351. 20:13I think simply to expand the kingdom,
  352. 20:15you know, that was the heart of the pilgrims
  353. 20:17and the Puritans when they came over.
  354. 20:19They saw America, not just as a place where they could live
  355. 20:24and honor God in the way in which they lived,
  356. 20:26according to his word, but where they could share the gospel,
  357. 20:30where Christ could be made known,
  358. 20:32and not just to those on this continent,
  359. 20:36but beyond this continent.
  360. 20:38So I like to say I say it in my book,
  361. 20:41Jesus is in America's DNA.
  362. 20:43He is good.
  363. 20:45That is a fact.
  364. 20:46Our, the earliest settlers wanted a place
  365. 20:49where they could share the gospel,
  366. 20:51where people could live in freedom.
  367. 20:53And those principles were then distilled
  368. 20:56into our Declaration of Independence and our Constitution.
  369. 20:59And it's amazing what happens when people live
  370. 21:03according to God.
  371. 21:04I'm not saying we're perfect.
  372. 21:05You know I'm not.
  373. 21:06I mean, we started this conversation by saying that we have fallen and we need to repent.
  374. 21:11But the ways of God are so good in leading a nation, in leading a people, giving freedom
  375. 21:18and opportunity.
  376. 21:20And so I believe it's for the expansion of the kingdom.
  377. 21:23I do too, completely.
  378. 21:251,000 percent.
  379. 21:27God has blessed this nation.
  380. 21:28I mean, my goodness, such innovation, such accomplishment, such miraculous visitations
  381. 21:35from God.
  382. 21:36It was for the Great Commission.
  383. 21:37I really did.
  384. 21:38Yes, I did.
  385. 21:39So, for those just tuning in, we're talking with Cynthia Scott, author, the Celebrate 250
  386. 21:46America.
  387. 21:47She's calling us to come back to God, the original founder of the country.
  388. 21:51We will take questions in the third segment.
  389. 21:53I'm going to go ahead and give the number, but it'll be a few short minutes before we get
  390. 21:58to the phones, but the number, if you have a question or you want to call in, it's 888-5898840.
  391. 22:05But right now, Cynthia, what do you say to people?
  392. 22:08And I hear this, and very often it's like pastors, and they'll say, well, you know, faith and religion
  393. 22:15have no place in government.
  394. 22:17And government, culture, politics, that's a separate lane.
  395. 22:23Faith is a personal matter.
  396. 22:25Keep Christianity and the government separate.
  397. 22:28How do you respond to that objection?
  398. 22:32Well, we know this well, Alex, that the separation of church and state was intended to prevent
  399. 22:39any governmental agency from presiding over the Church of Jesus Christ, over God's church.
  400. 22:46And so that was really what they meant by separation of church and state.
  401. 22:50But it's actually silly to believe that anybody can go into any kind of an office or any kind
  402. 22:55of a calling without taking their belief system with them, regardless of what that belief system
  403. 23:01is. And our founders clearly felt and said that our form of government with all of its freedoms
  404. 23:07is suitable for only a moral and religious people by religious they meant Christian. That is the
  405. 23:14era in which they were raised. That's the religion to which they were referring. So we are to take
  406. 23:21our Christian belief system with us everywhere we go. And the principles of the Bible, which
  407. 23:30undergird our freedoms and our founding documents are essential to preserving those freedoms.
  408. 23:38We are a Christian nation, not because some of us are Christian, but because our founding
  409. 23:43documents were arose out of Christian principles.
  410. 23:47And if you try to remove those Christian principles from the documents, from our laws, we will
  411. 23:53lose our freedoms, because God is the author of freedom.
  412. 23:57He's the only one that can give it.
  413. 23:59And if we eliminate God from the equation in America,
  414. 24:04we will lose our freedom.
  415. 24:06I was going to ask that.
  416. 24:08What is the risk if we don't return and acknowledge,
  417. 24:12and frankly, not only acknowledge but affirm the divine biblical
  418. 24:18DNA of our Constitution and culture.
  419. 24:21You know, what do we risk losing, Cynthia?
  420. 24:24We risk losing our freedoms.
  421. 24:26we risk losing what this nation was created to be.
  422. 24:30And I would like to make a distinction
  423. 24:33for those of us who are joining us here today.
  424. 24:36And the freedom of religion,
  425. 24:39the freedom to practice the religion of your choice
  426. 24:42comes from God, right?
  427. 24:43Because God is the author of freedom.
  428. 24:45The principles that are embedded in our Constitution
  429. 24:49to maintain that freedom must be preserved.
  430. 24:52So even the atheist or someone who believes a different religion
  431. 24:57should be grateful that we are a Christian nation
  432. 25:00because they are provided the freedom
  433. 25:03to believe the way they want to
  434. 25:05because of our founding documents being rooted in scripture.
  435. 25:10So we have freedom in our nation
  436. 25:13but we cannot ever lose our Christian roots.
  437. 25:16And you know, I mean,
  438. 25:18we are a pluralistic culture in the sense,
  439. 25:21I've had academics at universities and different ones.
  440. 25:24Well, Christianity, this is not a theocracy.
  441. 25:27We're a pluralistic culture.
  442. 25:30Yeah, we are pluralistic in the sense.
  443. 25:33Somebody can believe whatever they want to believe.
  444. 25:36If someone opts to not believe in Jesus, I'm sorry for them, but that is their prerogative,
  445. 25:42but we are not pluralistic in the sense that any and every worldview could or should be
  446. 25:50allowed into the halls of government, leadership, or the classroom.
  447. 25:55And here's another thing that people need to understand that when anyone migrates here,
  448. 26:01they don't just come in a vacuum or, you know, leave all their cultural assumptions at the
  449. 26:08border.
  450. 26:10Everybody has a worldview.
  451. 26:11And that's why it is so dangerous, folks.
  452. 26:13I got to tell you, it is so dangerous.
  453. 26:16increasing numbers of Muslims that are running for and winning offices, you know, more and
  454. 26:25more school board members are Islamic, more and more chiefs of police, persons in terms
  455. 26:33of leadership.
  456. 26:34And I had a four hour conversation with the vice president of care.
  457. 26:39And this Islamic woman just very calmly told me, she said, America will become a caliphate
  458. 26:46and she seemed to be confident that they were more committed to America than
  459. 26:53Christian Americans are committed to America. So we definitely need to pray.
  460. 26:58Cynthia, if you would, talk to us about what could light a fire, a renewed fire
  461. 27:05of patriotism and frankly obedience in the hearts of those that really do
  462. 27:13to understand and love America, what could reignite the passion for our country?
  463. 27:19Well, that passion comes from the Holy Spirit, but he does work in different ways.
  464. 27:24And I wrote this book primarily so that God would get the credit.
  465. 27:27That's really my heart, that God would be honored.
  466. 27:30But secondarily, I believe that Christians and Americans need courage to stand up for
  467. 27:36our history, to stand up for the truth about our nation.
  468. 27:39We are entitled to be a Christian nation.
  469. 27:43is entitled to take that away from us. That's how we were founded. That's how our freedoms were created.
  470. 27:50And I believe that as people come to know the truth of our history, which has been written out
  471. 27:56of the history books, as you know, Alex, I believe that as they see, oh my goodness, God really was
  472. 28:01involved in this. You know, my book goes from the time of the pilgrims and it spans across the
  473. 28:07revolution, the two great awakenings, and the Emancipation Proclamation, American Prosperity,
  474. 28:13and looking forward because I want people to see the broad brush stroke of God across
  475. 28:18this nation.
  476. 28:19It wasn't just one or two incidents where God was involved.
  477. 28:24God has been involved in the ideas even before America was America.
  478. 28:30In the hearts of men and women, he has been involved in creating us and sustaining us and
  479. 28:35he is the answer to our future, period.
  480. 28:39And you know, other nations are entitled to have their belief systems, to have their forms
  481. 28:44of government.
  482. 28:45And fine, nobody's arguing with that.
  483. 28:47We are entitled to ours.
  484. 28:49And Christians need to have courage to stand up and fight for that.
  485. 28:53Because you're right, we have many threats.
  486. 28:55And if you look at other nations of the world truthfully, without Christ, there's no freedom.
  487. 29:01Think about the other nations that have arisen under totalitarian regimes, whether they're,
  488. 29:06know, religious or Marxist or secular, the people are oppressed because only the God of
  489. 29:14the Bible gives freedom. So I'm hoping that God will use this moment in history to spark
  490. 29:22a fire that fire you're talking about as people come to know the truth of our history
  491. 29:27that has sort of been hidden. I mean, I was surprised at many of the things I learned as
  492. 29:31I began the research for this book. I'm sure you have been, as you've done all the research
  493. 29:35the books that you've done. God has been there all along and I think that he is
  494. 29:40able to light that fire. We've got a break coming up and we are going to get
  495. 29:44to calls. I see people holding the numbers. Triple eight, 5898840. Triple
  496. 29:50eight, 5898840. The American Family Radio Network, our very special guest,
  497. 29:55author Cynthia Scott. Cynthia, in your research, did you ever come across
  498. 30:00sociologists who taught at, I believe Oxford, J.D. Unwin. Does that name ring a
  499. 30:09bell? It does not. I learned about him through a number of
  500. 30:14colleagues, fascinating, but he studied like 80 of the world's preeminent
  501. 30:21civilizations throughout history. And he wrote a book called Sex and Culture, and
  502. 30:26and unwind documents basically that when there is a breakdown of morality and sex outside
  503. 30:34of marriage and promiscuity becomes prevalent, that it is without a doubt the culture will
  504. 30:41unravel.
  505. 30:43And here's what he said that cultures, and this is profound folks, they go through protective,
  506. 30:49productive, prosperous, promiscuous, protective fight, build your nation, productive, build
  507. 30:56houses, businesses, but then hard work and self-control, deferred gratification, marriage,
  508. 31:05morality, fidelity, it builds prosperity.
  509. 31:08But he said during that third phase, protective, productive, prosperous, as generations come
  510. 31:15along that don't know what it took to give you what you've got.
  511. 31:21And it reminds me in Israel there arose a generation that knew not Joseph nor Joseph's
  512. 31:26God.
  513. 31:27But during the phasor promiscuity, that's the prosperity and then the forgetting of the
  514. 31:34spiritual and moral foundations and then the fourth stage that is the destruction of a culture
  515. 31:40promiscuous and unwin he's been dead probably 80 to 100 years but I mean that could be America's
  516. 31:48timeline couldn't it the productive protective prosperous promiscuous. It could be if God does not
  517. 31:57intervene if we do not cry out to him to intervene it absolutely could be. I think that that's why God
  518. 32:04says in the word that when you've built your houses and you're living in your cities, don't
  519. 32:10forget me. He's telling us do not forget him. It is not by our own hand that we've attained
  520. 32:16this wealth, right? He's been the one that's blessed us. And that's why it is so very important
  521. 32:22to remember. And to me, it's almost miraculous. You know, the prayers in my book sat in my laptop
  522. 32:30for five years before God opened a door to put them into this book.
  523. 32:34Just last May, you know, 13.
  524. 32:37And I think that's because we are living in this moment when people are looking
  525. 32:43back and there is an opportunity to remember.
  526. 32:46Hold on.
  527. 32:47We've got a break.
  528. 32:48I'm so sorry.
  529. 32:49We've got a break more with Cynthia Scott, your calls and more on this
  530. 32:53edition of the Hamilton Corner.
  531. 32:55Stay tuned.
  532. 32:56Life can be hard, but we have to keep our eyes focused on Jesus.
  533. 33:07I'm Kristi Graham, host of On the Ground with Samaritan's Purse,
  534. 33:10and I want to encourage you in your walk with God.
  535. 33:13Listen each week as we go behind the scenes of our work around the world.
  536. 33:17You'll be challenged and encouraged in your own faith as you hear how God is actively changing lives.
  537. 33:24Join us for On the Ground with Samaritan's Purse,
  538. 33:28Sundays at 8.30 a.m. Central.
  539. 33:30Right here on American Family Radio.
  540. 33:34Hello, my name is Andy Miller and I'm the president of Wesley Biblical Seminary based in
  541. 33:39Ridgeland, Mississippi.
  542. 33:41We are developing trusted leaders for faithful churches and we do that based in the authority
  543. 33:47of scripture and in the reality that Christians can be transformed.
  544. 33:52We do that also through bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees.
  545. 33:56We'd love for you to learn more about Wesley Biblical Seminary at WBS.edu, where we're developing
  546. 34:03trusted leaders for faithful churches.
  547. 34:07UFOs and Aliens This is David Wheaton, host of the Christian
  548. 34:12worldview.
  549. 34:13No doubt you've noticed how mainstream the subject of UFOs and aliens has become.
  550. 34:19Even our president is being asked what the government knows about UFOs.
  551. 34:23So are intelligent life forms visiting us from far reaching places in the universe?
  552. 34:29If so, does it shake the Christian faith?
  553. 34:32The Bible says, the Spirit explicitly says that in later times, some will fall away from
  554. 34:38the faith, paying attention to deceitful spirits and doctrines of demons.
  555. 34:43These are not alternate life forms from other places in the universe, but there are demonic
  556. 34:48spirits whose aim is to deceive and destroy men.
  557. 34:52your most recent program on UFOs and aliens at TheChristianWorldView.org and then join
  558. 34:58us this weekend for another topic that will sharpen your worldview.
  559. 35:01Listen to The Christian World View with David Wheaton, Saturday mornings at 8th Central on
  560. 35:06American Family Radio.
  561. 35:07The Hamilton Quarter Podcast and One-Minute Common Terrence are available at AFR.net.
  562. 35:18Back to The Hamilton Quarter on American Family Radio.
  563. 35:22Hey, welcome back to the program.
  564. 35:24We're going to resume our conversation with Cynthia Scott in just a moment, but I want
  565. 35:28to talk to you about Saturday night, June 20th, which is just days away.
  566. 35:33Now, if you know much about what we do, we do the show exploring the word, but when I'm
  567. 35:39not at the radio, Mike, I am on the road and we've done citywide events and camps and conferences
  568. 35:45all over America, all 50 states.
  569. 35:48But this Saturday night, listen up folks and please pray.
  570. 35:51going to be back in North Myrtle Beach, the Greg Roles Legacy Theater. Now, Myrtle
  571. 35:59Beach, if you know anything about the Mid-Atlantic region, and this absolutely
  572. 36:03relates to our conversation with Cynthia Scott, but Saturday night, June 20th, 7
  573. 36:08o'clock, we've got a free event. I'll be speaking and it's a revival meaning. What
  574. 36:13I'm going to do is tell you about what spiritual awakening is, revival, how you
  575. 36:18You can take this back to your church or your community.
  576. 36:22You can be a carrier of revival, really.
  577. 36:26And we're going to talk about prayer, what it really means to repent and turn to God and
  578. 36:31experience the awakening that our nation needs.
  579. 36:34Now, for the last several years, if you listen to what we do, we're all over America.
  580. 36:39I'll be in Texas next month with a big citywide crusade.
  581. 36:43But let me tell you why Myrtle Beach.
  582. 36:45Turtle Beach is the number one beach destination in America.
  583. 36:48It's probably the number one golf destination.
  584. 36:51There are restaurants, seafood, it's just wonderful.
  585. 36:54But there are all these music theaters, kind of like Branson, Missouri.
  586. 36:58And we began to rent theaters down there.
  587. 37:02People come on vacation.
  588. 37:04Why not come and learn about the Lord, learn about God's Word, learn how to defend the faith?
  589. 37:10And it was of course last year in front of several thousand people from 17 states that
  590. 37:16Charlie Kirk and I did a big event last August and it was the last event he did in America
  591. 37:24before that tragic day in Utah.
  592. 37:26Well, this Saturday night, now later on in the summer, we'll have Eric Metaxas, we'll
  593. 37:31have other conferences.
  594. 37:32I'll tell you all about that.
  595. 37:34But folks, please pray this Saturday night, June 20th, a revival.
  596. 37:39part of our Revive US tour and you can get complete information at my website which is
  597. 37:45just my name, AlexMcFarlane.com, AlexMcFarlane.com, but we'll keep you posted on that and we need
  598. 37:53an awakening in our nation. So that's why we're doing what we're doing. We're talking with
  599. 37:57Cynthia Scott. We're also going to take some phone calls. The number, if you have a question,
  600. 38:03It's triple eight, five, eight, nine, eight, eight, 40.
  601. 38:06We begin in Louisiana with David.
  602. 38:09David, thanks for holding and welcome to our conversation
  603. 38:13with Cynthia Scott.
  604. 38:17Hello, David.
  605. 38:21David, are you there?
  606. 38:24Hello, David.
  607. 38:26Okay, we're gonna try to go to Melissa.
  608. 38:30Melissa, are you there?
  609. 38:32Yes, I am.
  610. 38:33Welcome, thanks for holding.
  611. 38:36Thank you for having me.
  612. 38:38I am hearing the words of truth and it just seems to me and it just encourages me to want
  613. 38:46to take time and follow through and have a deeper prayer life.
  614. 38:52I am very passionate about my country.
  615. 38:55I love my country.
  616. 38:56I just want to know in my heart's cry really is like when I hear the speaking and I really
  617. 39:04grow stronger my thoughts, you want to be a part of the awakening sort of the movement of
  618. 39:09you know bringing back our country to where it needs to be.
  619. 39:15I guess the question is how do we really bring over the voice that the speaker is talking
  620. 39:21about you know when she says hey look you know we're gonna have to have ourselves come
  621. 39:26back and fight for our country because you know it's like we don't go into other countries
  622. 39:31and make their beliefs change on our account.
  623. 39:33We are pretty much very humble of a country.
  624. 39:38But I feel like my husband and I talk at the table every morning
  625. 39:42and we're always thinking on, I mean,
  626. 39:45because David didn't just stand down in the book of the Bible.
  627. 39:48He didn't just, I know we can't think of violence to that degree,
  628. 39:54but how is it that we can say we're going to make a change?
  629. 39:58We're going to have a prayer life, yes.
  630. 40:00but how is it that we really can make a change to the words that she spoke that certainly encourages
  631. 40:08me but I want to know how. Great question. Cynthia, what do you say? Well, I think I would say
  632. 40:17start with prayer and remember prayer isn't just asking. The more important part of prayer is listening
  633. 40:24to what God is saying to you and there are many ways to speak up. First of all, we can speak
  634. 40:30truth to our families and we do it in love. We don't necessarily have to hit them over the head with it.
  635. 40:36We can get involved in civic organizations. We can vote. I think one of the most important things
  636. 40:43that we as Christians need to do is to get behind godly or at least the closest to godly
  637. 40:51candidates that we can and support them. I'm shocked by the number of people that are Christians
  638. 40:57that don't vote. I mean, all throughout the scriptures, we're told to be good stewards of everything.
  639. 41:03And yet somehow, we've sort of let this idea of being a good steward of the nation laps.
  640. 41:09So I think we just sort of start in our circle. Who is it that we know? What about the local school
  641. 41:14board? What about local races? We have, you know, we've got an election coming up in November. We just
  642. 41:21went through a primary season, make a call and see how you can get involved. It's sometimes
  643. 41:27phone calls or or doorknobging and I I
  644. 41:31Don't think we should underestimate
  645. 41:34The power that God brings as we pray. He's going to give you the ideas
  646. 41:38You know when I started praying for the nation. I did not have the idea of this book
  647. 41:42You know, it's something that God does in the process in the midst of our relationship
  648. 41:46So I want to encourage you to continue to press into God
  649. 41:49I would like to encourage you to get the book because it's a way to pray
  650. 41:53It is, you know, each chapter deals with a part of our history and then it goes into
  651. 42:00prayer for the government.
  652. 42:02Well, first of all, repentance and then Thanksgiving.
  653. 42:05Then the government, our leaders, praying for our leaders, praying for the people, the culture
  654. 42:10and the church in America, all rooted in scripture.
  655. 42:14There is scripture, everything in the book is rooted in scripture because apart from
  656. 42:18God's word, we don't know his will.
  657. 42:20And then there's a time to sit and listen to what God is saying to you.
  658. 42:27And that's what I want you to do, Melissa.
  659. 42:28I want you to sit and listen.
  660. 42:30And you're going to connect scriptures in your mind that you've read with things that
  661. 42:35are going on in your life or your community and jot them down.
  662. 42:39And then at the very end of each chapter, there is a gentle call to action.
  663. 42:43It's a prod.
  664. 42:44It's just you don't have to do what I'm suggesting, but listen to what God is calling you to do
  665. 42:50because prayer and action go together.
  666. 42:52They did it at the time of the revolution and they do now.
  667. 42:55And you know, when we think about what they were preaching
  668. 42:58at the time of the revolution,
  669. 42:59they were preaching freedom in Christ,
  670. 43:01but the pastors were taking that plumb line of scripture
  671. 43:05and comparing it to the days in which they lived
  672. 43:07and they said, wait a second, we're not free
  673. 43:10because we are under the tyranny of this king, George,
  674. 43:13and we've got to get out from underneath him
  675. 43:15because God has intended for us to be a free people.
  676. 43:18And so we need to hold up the scriptures
  677. 43:21next to what's happening in our world.
  678. 43:23And if we are in alignment with God's word, great.
  679. 43:27We continue.
  680. 43:28But if we are not seeing alignment with God's word,
  681. 43:30then that's a call to action right there to get involved.
  682. 43:33And join with some others to pray.
  683. 43:36I love corporate prayer.
  684. 43:39It's so powerful.
  685. 43:40And by corporate prayer, I mean two or three or 200 or 500,
  686. 43:45either with the church or with a small group,
  687. 43:47It is very encouraging to seek God and hear from them,
  688. 43:51from Him together.
  689. 43:53Amen, amen.
  690. 43:55We're gonna circle back to that.
  691. 43:56Melissa, thanks for calling.
  692. 43:58Right now in Kentucky, Frank.
  693. 44:01Frank in Kentucky, thanks for holding.
  694. 44:03I like, I like to.
  695. 44:04Yeah, welcome.
  696. 44:05Hi, Alex.
  697. 44:06Alex, I have a complaint.
  698. 44:09My complaint is, I've been, first of all,
  699. 44:14I've been in Kentucky almost 25 years
  700. 44:17And I've been out in the public like everybody else has.
  701. 44:21And I'm yet to see people come up to me and say,
  702. 44:24sir, do you know Jesus?
  703. 44:26Are you are, are you,
  704. 44:30and I've been in public places like everybody else goes.
  705. 44:34And yet I haven't seen great people come up to me
  706. 44:38like Walmart, you know, place like that and say,
  707. 44:40do you know Jesus?
  708. 44:42I'm the point of making it right.
  709. 44:43You mean like witnessing Christ.
  710. 44:46Yeah.
  711. 44:47So the point I'm trying to make is Alex, no one is, the Christian is not doing this, okay?
  712. 44:53It's been going on a long time.
  713. 44:56So sometimes Ronald was there, he tells us to go out in the world and take the gospel
  714. 44:59out and make disciples of people.
  715. 45:03So take the word out.
  716. 45:06And so actually the word is out there out there in the world.
  717. 45:12That's not so much in the...
  718. 45:14That's a good point.
  719. 45:16Cynthia, as a Christian, we are to be a witness.
  720. 45:20I was thinking about something.
  721. 45:22I believe it's Jeremiah 29-7 that God told Israel, seek the peace of the city where you
  722. 45:29are captives.
  723. 45:33Many ministers have reprimanded me and they'll say, well, the world is waxing worse and worse.
  724. 45:42My home is heaven.
  725. 45:43Israel. They were captives and they were to be salt and light. And yes, for the Christian
  726. 45:50heaven is our home, but America is where we live until we get there. We're to be salt
  727. 45:58and light, aren't we? We are. And you know, it's interesting because I was talking to somebody
  728. 46:04recently, they were talking about censorship in the media. And after he spoke, I said, you know,
  729. 46:10our history has been censored. And I believe that I even believe that we as Christians self-sensor.
  730. 46:18And what I mean by that is we allow ourselves to be intimidated into not speaking about Jesus,
  731. 46:25because other people tell us to. Why should we living in a free nation, not speak about Jesus,
  732. 46:33just like everybody else speaks about their belief system? I believe we are guilty of self-sensoring.
  733. 46:40and we of all people have the good news.
  734. 46:43I mean, that's a scheme of the devil
  735. 46:44when you think about it.
  736. 46:46Of course, he would want Christians to self-sensor
  737. 46:48and be quiet, but that's not God's way.
  738. 46:51And there are many, many ways to speak about Jesus
  739. 46:55and asking somebody if you can pray for them.
  740. 47:00And then in the course of our conversation,
  741. 47:02sharing that you're praying to Jesus,
  742. 47:04there are many ways to do it.
  743. 47:05But what we need to do is speak up.
  744. 47:07We cannot be afraid, Alex.
  745. 47:09We have good news, not just for this nation, but for eternity.
  746. 47:14And we just need to speak it.
  747. 47:17Yeah, we do.
  748. 47:18And folks, keep some gospel tracks.
  749. 47:21Look, if you write to the Billy Graham ministry,
  750. 47:24they will send you his wonderful little booklet
  751. 47:27called Peace with God.
  752. 47:28And I often say to people, I'll say,
  753. 47:30hey, here's a little booklet with some Bible verses.
  754. 47:33It will be a great encouragement to you.
  755. 47:34May I give this to you?
  756. 47:36And don't forget Jesus is as close by as a prayer.
  757. 47:40You'll be amazed 999 people out of a thousand
  758. 47:44will gratefully take it.
  759. 47:46But David in Louisiana, David, are you there?
  760. 47:50Yes, thanks for holding.
  761. 47:53What you got David?
  762. 47:55It's an honor to be on.
  763. 47:56Thank you very much.
  764. 47:57Hey, the reason I'm calling is I've come across a name
  765. 48:03that was a it's fact of fiction.
  766. 48:05I don't know, it's during the time of the founding.
  767. 48:09Just the name, Heyman Solomon Ringabel.
  768. 48:18He was a Polish immigrant who helped fund
  769. 48:21the Continental Congress, I think, didn't he?
  770. 48:24Or didn't he give some money to George Washington
  771. 48:28to help?
  772. 48:29It was either the American Revolution
  773. 48:31or the Continental Congress.
  774. 48:33Am I right on that?
  775. 48:36That is exactly correct.
  776. 48:38And I came across this for the first time,
  777. 48:40and I was astound.
  778. 48:42Yes, he literally paid, yeah, he was a Polish Jew,
  779. 48:49and he was financially, and he literally paid
  780. 48:52for the Battle of Yorktown, which in the end,
  781. 48:57it helped us win the Revolutionary War.
  782. 49:01And wow, I was just wondering if,
  783. 49:04So if you'll have come across his name, it's these remarkable things.
  784. 49:08Thanks. We're almost out of time. I want to throw to Cynthia. You know,
  785. 49:11um, the Jewish influence in the American Revolution, which is a lovely story. And then our participation,
  786. 49:20Harry Truman, Winston Churchill, in the rebirth of Israel, America is a nation of destiny, isn't
  787. 49:28Cynthia. Yes, we absolutely are a nation of destiny. We are part of God's story. I believe that every
  788. 49:35nation can be part of God's story. Obviously, God is no respecter of persons, but in America,
  789. 49:42he shaped a people that would shape the world and would spread the gospel. And we really are that
  790. 49:48light. We cannot let this light flicker out. We have got to step into this moment in history.
  791. 49:54and we've got to be strong in our faith,
  792. 49:56and yes, he used Jewish people,
  793. 49:58as well as others and Native Americans and Blacks and Whites.
  794. 50:01I mean, God used so many people to bring about this nation.
  795. 50:05And he did do it for his glory.
  796. 50:09And I love that verse from one Samuel,
  797. 50:12it's a theme of the book, one Samuel 230,
  798. 50:15those who honor me, this is God speaking,
  799. 50:18those who honor me, I will honor.
  800. 50:21And that really is the way of America.
  801. 50:23We're almost out of time, Cynthia Scott,
  802. 50:25celebrating God, America's founder.
  803. 50:27Thanks, Cynthia, for being with us.
  804. 50:28Thanks to Bobby Rosa, Jeff McIntosh, all the crew.
  805. 50:31And thank you for listening.
  806. 50:32Hey, folks, remember your life can be the influence
  807. 50:36that helps save our nation.
