  1. 0:00Darkness is not an affirmative force.
  2. 0:03It simply reoccupies the space vacated by the light.
  3. 0:06This is the Hamilton Corner on American Family Radio.
  4. 0:11It should be uncomfortable for a believer to live as a hypocrite.
  5. 0:15Delivering people out of the bondage of mainstream media.
  6. 0:18And the philosophies of this world.
  7. 0:20God has called you and me to be His ambassador.
  8. 0:24Even in this dark moment.
  9. 0:26Let's not miss our moment.
  10. 0:28and now the Hamilton Corner.
  11. 0:37All right, well we had a little bit of technical difficulty.
  12. 0:40I'm not Abraham Hamilton the third.
  13. 0:42I'm JJ Jasper, JJ John in the morning on AFR,
  14. 0:46one of the professors on Friday with trivia Friday,
  15. 0:50learning university, and what an honor
  16. 0:53to be filling in for Abe.
  17. 0:55Now, I wish that Abe was a little more gregarious.
  18. 0:59I wish he would come out of his shell.
  19. 1:00I think we all agree that he needs to just really tell
  20. 1:03is what he really thinks.
  21. 1:06Well, if you've watched the temperatures
  22. 1:09across the nation, a historic heat wave,
  23. 1:12and I hate to start our time together with a sad story,
  24. 1:15but in Tupelo, Mississippi, where our flagship station
  25. 1:18is located, they have a really nice petting zoo.
  26. 1:23It's a real tourist attraction.
  27. 1:25And again, a sad story with the heat wave today
  28. 1:29at the petting zoo in Tupelo,
  29. 1:32their water buffalo evaporated.
  30. 1:35So, so very sad.
  31. 1:37I feel bad, their water buffalo evaporated.
  32. 1:39I feel bad for the little kids that were there.
  33. 1:42That would just be hard to unsee.
  34. 1:44Now, I think Abe would want me to lead with a dad joke.
  35. 1:50So there's that off the table.
  36. 1:53Hey, ordinarily, those of you that listen faithfully listening
  37. 1:57to the Hamilton Corner, Abe opens the word
  38. 2:01and shares the devotion,
  39. 2:02then he goes to the topics of the day.
  40. 2:05And I'm gonna do that in reverse, if you allow me.
  41. 2:09I'm gonna share a few headline things
  42. 2:11and then I'm gonna bring a message
  43. 2:14that I think is gonna be appropriate and applicable
  44. 2:19for men, women, boys and girls.
  45. 2:21I believe it will resonate with everyone.
  46. 2:23So start with some things that are in the news.
  47. 2:25Of course, you have that monumental trade deal with Japan, which was epic.
  48. 2:33People talking about that.
  49. 2:36Planned Parenthood closing many facilities across the country.
  50. 2:40Still some court battle going on with that defunding and the big beautiful bill.
  51. 2:46But most of you who are pro-life, what a victory that Planned Parenthood facilities closing
  52. 2:54across the country, and we just are so thankful
  53. 2:58for the sanctity of human life,
  54. 3:02American Family Association, American Family Radio,
  55. 3:05one of the nation's largest pro-family ministries,
  56. 3:09and one of the nation's largest pro-life ministries.
  57. 3:13I'm privileged to be a frequent speaker
  58. 3:15at pregnancy centers across the nation,
  59. 3:18and boy, just knowing that we're fearfully
  60. 3:20and wonderfully made by God created in His image,
  61. 3:24the sanctity of human life from conception to natural death.
  62. 3:27And so that's good news in the pro life community.
  63. 3:30Oh, I do want to say I mentioned that I get to speak at pregnancy centers.
  64. 3:34I'm going to be in Alexandria, Louisiana, the Senla Pregnancy Center, Randolph
  65. 3:39Riverfront Center. That September the 18th, it's a ticketed event.
  66. 3:43And I think the executive director, Kim, I think she said they had between 800
  67. 3:48and a thousand each year.
  68. 3:49So a wonderful opportunity there.
  69. 3:51If you're in the Alexandria, Louisiana area, that's going to be on September the 18th.
  70. 3:57Back to some of the news.
  71. 3:59And again, Abe is the political pundit and I'm not going to embarrass myself trying to
  72. 4:05weigh in.
  73. 4:08He has the acumen.
  74. 4:10He is so knowledgeable about all of these things in the news.
  75. 4:15But the tariffs continue to dominate the news.
  76. 4:18something we continue to hear. And I just want to acknowledge some of these headline
  77. 4:24news things. Epstein certainly still in the news. Now I've got a lot of thoughts on all
  78. 4:29these issues, but my observations would be more of a, of a rant and less political pundit
  79. 4:36like the honorable Abraham Hamilton the third. He was the, certainly is the expert. You know,
  80. 4:42I saw something from Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene, and some would say she's controversial,
  81. 4:52but she sent something that yesterday.
  82. 4:55She said I want to share something personal.
  83. 4:57A former federal employee from the Voice of America was just indicted after spending over
  84. 5:04a year making violent threats against me, my family, and my staff.
  85. 5:11At one point he told me directly, we're coming after you and your staff, we're locked and loaded.
  86. 5:17We're going to take you all out.
  87. 5:19You're going to get one between the eyes.
  88. 5:22She goes on to say I've faced countless threats from extremist Democrats, radical activists
  89. 5:27before, but nothing like this.
  90. 5:30This man terrorized me for 15 months.
  91. 5:33Now that he's been arrested, we learned he had ties to federally funded agencies and
  92. 5:39access to resources that made these threats even more chilling.
  93. 5:44This is exactly how dangerous the rhetoric from the left has become.
  94. 5:48For years they've demonized conservatives calling us extremists, encouraging their allies
  95. 5:55to make us pay.
  96. 5:57Now their words are becoming violent actions.
  97. 6:01She goes on to just say she, she's asking for prayers and Democrats know that when they
  98. 6:09forced me to drain my campaign funds, paying for security, they make it easier to beat at
  99. 6:14the ballot box.
  100. 6:16She doesn't have the luxury of having government security details.
  101. 6:19She has to pay for security out of her own savings.
  102. 6:23So I share that because one of the things that seems like that it's been headline news,
  103. 6:31that it's been leading the news, is certainly the recent revelations from Tulsi Gabbard that
  104. 6:38appear to possibly point to Comey, Clapper, Brennan, and even former President Barack Hussein,
  105. 6:47Obama who again appears to allegedly possibly be the ring leader of the debunked Russian
  106. 6:57hopes narrative that we had to go through year after year after year after they were targeting
  107. 7:03President Trump and dogging him and just trying to boy all of these agencies radicalized these
  108. 7:13agencies and the at the top. There are so many people that would argue that they're just
  109. 7:20rotten at the top in terms of the CIA, the FBI, the Justice Department, the rank and file members,
  110. 7:28hardworking, Godfaring, I'm sure, but at the top during the Biden regime, even before that,
  111. 7:35under President Obama. Now it's coming to light again allegedly from these recent revelations from
  112. 7:44the Director of National Intelligence, Tulsi Gabbard. So I was thinking about this, this target on
  113. 7:51Marjorie Taylor Greene and her fears, I would just say please pray for Tulsi Gabbard and Pam Bondi.
  114. 7:58Now it's in the hands of the DOJ for possible criminal investigation and boy that's a I'm
  115. 8:07one of those ones I guess you would just say one of those nuts that believe in conspiracy
  116. 8:12theories because I just really do believe that there's a deep state and some of these
  117. 8:17things that are happening seem to indicate that indeed that's happening.
  118. 8:22I thank God for President Trump.
  119. 8:24They tried every possible way to bankrupt him,
  120. 8:28to go after him with law fair, even he was shot.
  121. 8:35And then the other, on the golf course,
  122. 8:37there are another assassination attempt.
  123. 8:39So pray for these leaders that are trying to peel the onion
  124. 8:44and find out how deep this corruption goes.
  125. 8:48So I said, I wanted to at least acknowledge
  126. 8:51some of these things that are in the news.
  127. 8:54And I wanna take a minute and just brag out my friend
  128. 8:56and hero, Abraham Hamilton the third.
  129. 9:00I have the greatest respect for Abe,
  130. 9:02and I know those of you that listen regularly,
  131. 9:04you just love Abe, sweet wife, Maria, their children.
  132. 9:08But I was privileged to travel with Abe to India.
  133. 9:12Abe and his wife, Maria, and I was on the team
  134. 9:15and my daughter, Matty, and we went
  135. 9:18on a media mission trip to India.
  136. 9:21Now we got with Prima and Eleazar,
  137. 9:24who they have boys home, girls home,
  138. 9:26Eleazar trains young pastors.
  139. 9:29We shared meals in their home.
  140. 9:32We traveled down these rugged roads
  141. 9:35in the third world country.
  142. 9:37And I'll tell you a quick trip.
  143. 9:38So we go in a van down a steep hill.
  144. 9:41We go into a jungle,
  145. 9:43starting to look a little like Gilligan's Island.
  146. 9:46The road plays out. We park the van. We start to walk. The path gets more and more narrow.
  147. 9:52We're in the jungle. All of a sudden it opens up and all of these crude homes made of bamboo
  148. 10:00and sticks and the most beautiful thatched roof and a village. I mean people, an under
  149. 10:06reached people group right there in India in the middle of, I guess you would say a jungle.
  150. 10:12Well, another little note when we were leaving, we got back to the van, pretty good size steep
  151. 10:19grade.
  152. 10:20It started to rain.
  153. 10:21We'd just been talking about answers to prayers and miracles, how God is sovereign.
  154. 10:26There was no possible way to wheel drive passenger van.
  155. 10:30We were going to get up this steep hill.
  156. 10:32It was inevitable we were going to spend the night in the jungle.
  157. 10:35We prayed, got up that hill, glory to God.
  158. 10:39But I just want to say, sharing meals, traveling to the other side of the world with Abe.
  159. 10:45He's the same person that you hear on the air.
  160. 10:47He's that way in person.
  161. 10:49Always looking for teachable moments, encouraging, edifies everyone around him.
  162. 10:54And again, he's my hero and what a tremendous honor to fill in for him on this Tuesday evening.
  163. 11:01Stay tuned, we'll be back with more.
  164. 11:23A discipleship minute with Joseph Parker.
  165. 11:26The work of being a parent is an awesome responsibility.
  166. 11:29It's a great responsibility.
  167. 11:31It's a privilege, it's a joy.
  168. 11:33Our job is to do all we can to help our children come to know Christ,
  169. 11:37and then to passionately be involved in the work of the disciples,
  170. 11:40and helping them to grow up in their faith,
  171. 11:42to become a sure, strong, vibrant, young,
  172. 11:45men and women who love Jesus and live for Jesus every single day.
  173. 11:50Lord, with every passing day and more and more,
  174. 11:52help us all to grow an understanding of how critical it is
  175. 11:55that we do our job, that we carry out what you call us to do,
  176. 11:58but help us to know, Lord, that your word is a wonderful tool,
  177. 12:02a wonderful guidebook in helping us to be faithful disciples
  178. 12:06and faithful disciples and makers as well.
  179. 12:08Use us in a wonderful way to help them to come to know Christ,
  180. 12:13and then use us and work through us to help our children
  181. 12:16to come to fall in love with you and with your word.
  182. 12:19In Jesus' name we do pray.
  183. 12:28Shining light into the darkness. This is the Hamilton Corner on American Family Radio
  184. 12:35Well, thank you for listening to the Hamilton Corner. I'm not Abraham Hamilton the third. I'm JJ Jasper
  185. 12:42I've been with the American Family Radio since day one JJ and John in the mornings if you happen to listen on our app
  186. 12:50one of the professors on Friday with learning University trivia Friday
  187. 12:54today. Tim Wildman and Ed Vitek Leano. And so yeah, it's a real treat. What an honor to fill
  188. 13:01in for Abe on this terrific Tuesday. One more news item. I'm guessing you haven't heard anything
  189. 13:08about this. This is kind of under the radar, but this was a real blessing. I spotted this
  190. 13:13news item. Pastor Brett Meeder is going to host Portland's first evangelical crusade in
  191. 13:2225 years when you think Seattle, when you think Washington, Oregon, out in that part of the country,
  192. 13:30those of us in the South, those of us in middle America, you just sort of grew up hearing some of
  193. 13:37you grandparents remember Billy Graham Crusades across the country. Dr. David Jeremiah, evangelistic
  194. 13:44Crusades, the West Lefella out in California, Greg Lorry, he has those huge evangelistic Crusades.
  195. 13:51and you know, middle America, well, you had spring revivals in your local community,
  196. 13:56fall revivals, and out in Portland, apparently that's just something that's unheard of and very,
  197. 14:03very unfamiliar because again, Portland is going to have their first evangelical crusade in 25 years.
  198. 14:12Revival and possibly one of the most liberal cities in America. Portland set the host of
  199. 14:17crusade here in just a few days. Please be in prayer for this a series of three evangelical
  200. 14:23events with an expected turnout of 45,000 people. It's going to be August the second and
  201. 14:29third at the Moda Center featuring nationally known Christian music artist Chris Tomlin,
  202. 14:37Zach Williams, Kerry Jove and Cody Carnes along with the gospel message from
  203. 14:42from, Athlete Creek Senior Pastor Brett Mater.
  204. 14:47So pray for this event, marking once again the Portland's first evangelical crusade in 25
  205. 14:55years.
  206. 14:56Who knows?
  207. 14:57It may wind up being in a Zusa Street revival or an Asbury revival breakout when the Holy
  208. 15:02Spirit of the Living God shows up there in Portland.
  209. 15:06So those are some news items and then I'd like to open up the word and just share a message.
  210. 15:14Again, I think this is going to be something that will resonate with men, women, boys and
  211. 15:19girls.
  212. 15:20If you've got your Bible handy, Romans 1, verses 14 through 16, this might read a little bit different.
  213. 15:27I think as I'm reading from like the 1984 NIV version, Romans 1, verses 14 through 16,
  214. 15:35for these three phrases. I am obligated. I am eager. I am not ashamed. I am obligated, both to Greeks
  215. 15:47and non-greeks, both to the wise and the foolish. That is why I am so eager to preach the gospel
  216. 15:55also to you who are at Rome. I am not ashamed of the gospel because it is the power of God for
  217. 16:03the salvation of everyone who believes first for the Jew, then for the Gentile. I am obligated.
  218. 16:11I am eager. I am not ashamed. And I want to talk to you this afternoon about personal evangelism.
  219. 16:19Dr. David Jeremiah thinking about being obligated, he said, they will not seek. They must be sought.
  220. 16:26They will not come. They must be brought. They will not learn. They must be taught.
  221. 16:33Now, I remember as a new Christian many, many years ago, it just seemed like everybody was
  222. 16:40sharing the four spiritual laws, the Roman road. There was the campus crusade for Christ, the navigators,
  223. 16:48the colleges, there were so many students that were eagerly sharing the gospel. You had church
  224. 16:53visitation night. You had lay witness renewals. People just sharing their testimonies, anywhere
  225. 17:00and everywhere, you'd go into a truck stop or a restaurant and you'd see gospel tracks
  226. 17:06there.
  227. 17:07Well, in my observation, I don't see that as much anymore.
  228. 17:11And it just seems like there's not as many people sharing their faith in the Lord Jesus
  229. 17:16Christ.
  230. 17:17So that's what I want us to talk about for the next minutes together that we have.
  231. 17:22Personal evangelism.
  232. 17:24Start with obligated.
  233. 17:27It's one of the hardest things, but one of the most rewarding things that we ever get to
  234. 17:32do is to be a witness, to share about our faith and Jesus Christ.
  235. 17:39Listen to some of these very familiar verses, Mark 16, verse 15 and 16.
  236. 17:44Go into the world and preach the good news to all creation.
  237. 17:48Whoever believes in his baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.
  238. 17:551 8, but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you and you will be my witnesses.
  239. 18:03In Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria and to the ends of the earth. Luke 19 10 after Jesus
  240. 18:10talked about the lost, he's writing that section where he's talking about the lost coin, the
  241. 18:16lost sheep, the lost son, the prodigal son. You have this verse, Luke 19 10, for the Son
  242. 18:22of man came to seek and to save what was lost. So Jesus Christ, His mission, He came to seek
  243. 18:30and save that which was lost. So if we're Christians, if we're Christ-like, that should
  244. 18:35be our mission as well. I am obligated. Come follow me, Jesus said, and I'll make you fishers
  245. 18:42of men. Do you remember when Jesus looked out on the field and He said, look, the fields
  246. 18:47are white unto harvest, but the laborers are few.
  247. 18:51I'll tell you a story of being a new Christian.
  248. 18:54We were radically saved and a bunch of us in our friend group.
  249. 18:58We'd come out of different kinds of addictions.
  250. 19:01And so we really did come from darkness into light.
  251. 19:04And we were gloriously saved almost like a saw
  252. 19:08on the road to Damascus, where the bright light knocked him
  253. 19:11off his horse.
  254. 19:12And because this life was so new and real and the love
  255. 19:17and the peace and the forgiveness,
  256. 19:19having realized our need for God,
  257. 19:21repenting of our sins and receiving Jesus Christ
  258. 19:23into our heart and life by faith.
  259. 19:25We were a bunch of guys in our late teens,
  260. 19:29and we would just be, you know, we'd go somewhere and say,
  261. 19:32well, is this seat saved?
  262. 19:34Well, are you?
  263. 19:35You know, and we were just telling everybody,
  264. 19:38everywhere about Jesus Christ.
  265. 19:40And we had all of these four spiritual laws.
  266. 19:43Anybody old enough to remember that?
  267. 19:44Bill Bright, campus crusade for Christ, now crew,
  268. 19:48the four spiritual laws, these yellow pamphlets.
  269. 19:51We had these check tracks and we were going to Londermatch.
  270. 19:56We were going to, where the kids were hanging out
  271. 19:58in the parking lot and we'd just let the tailgate down
  272. 20:01in the truck and somebody to have a guitar
  273. 20:02and we'd just look for opportunities to get a crowd
  274. 20:05and then just share the gospel.
  275. 20:07Well, here I was 19 years old, new Christian, true story.
  276. 20:12I'm going down the road. It's July or August just blazing hot and I had to be somewhere and I was cutting it close on time
  277. 20:19And I was super thirsty I looked up and I saw Wayne Jackson auto sales and there's some vending machines right up close
  278. 20:26Close to the road. I thought okay. I've got time to zip in here get a drink keep going and
  279. 20:32I was cutting it close on time as I mentioned. It's how going there. I'm getting this drink and for lack of a better word this this
  280. 20:39This hippie was washing cars and he just had on cut off jeans and nothing else and wild crazy hair.
  281. 20:47And he just looked like he was probably high.
  282. 20:50He walked over to where I was getting the drink out of the Coke machine and he said, what's happening?
  283. 20:56Oh, and I had been driving down the road just singing and talking to the Lord and just so
  284. 21:00excited about being born again and just had the Lord on my mind.
  285. 21:04He said, what's happening?
  286. 21:06And I said, Jesus is happening.
  287. 21:08And he just sort of looked stunned and I said,
  288. 21:10Jesus is a life changer.
  289. 21:12I wish I had more time to tell you,
  290. 21:14but I invited, I asked God to forgive me of my sins,
  291. 21:18invite Jesus into my heart and life, my faith,
  292. 21:20and Jesus is a life changer.
  293. 21:22I said, I gotta go.
  294. 21:24I drove off.
  295. 21:25Couple of years later, year, two years,
  296. 21:27I forget the timeline.
  297. 21:28I'm on a side of town.
  298. 21:30I'm normally never at.
  299. 21:32I'm at a church service that I've never been
  300. 21:35to a church service like that,
  301. 21:37that particular denomination not since then or not currently.
  302. 21:43I've never been there ever.
  303. 21:44After the service was over,
  304. 21:45I just went at the invitation of a friend.
  305. 21:48I look up and I see a guy heading my way.
  306. 21:50And you can tell when somebody just got a laser focused,
  307. 21:52they're coming to you.
  308. 21:53I mean, stepping over chairs,
  309. 21:55he gets right to me, I found you, praise God, I found you.
  310. 21:59I prayed and asked the Lord to help me find you
  311. 22:01and I found you and he gave me a big bear hug.
  312. 22:03And I'm like, well, hey, good to see you too.
  313. 22:05How's mama and you?
  314. 22:06You know how when you don't know who it is.
  315. 22:08And I think you're way ahead of me.
  316. 22:10It was that guy and he said, these are his words,
  317. 22:14he said he dreamed about me, saw my face.
  318. 22:17And he said, I was coming up to you.
  319. 22:20You look like you probably got high
  320. 22:22and I was gonna try to buy some drugs off of you.
  321. 22:24And I asked you what was happening.
  322. 22:25And you said, Jesus was happening.
  323. 22:28And you just had a glow and you just had this joy
  324. 22:31and you just seemed so authentic and real.
  325. 22:34Then he said, the Lord brought other people into his life
  326. 22:36to share the gospel more completely.
  327. 22:39But that's how powerful God is.
  328. 22:41That's how hungry people are.
  329. 22:43That all I said was Jesus is a life changer.
  330. 22:47But because it says in Isaiah that his word
  331. 22:49will never return void every time the gospel goes out.
  332. 22:53Every time a Bible verse goes out,
  333. 22:55every time you plan a seed for the Lord,
  334. 22:57he will water that and he'll send somebody else
  335. 23:01across that person's path.
  336. 23:02And when you share the gospel with somebody
  337. 23:04on the other side of the pump or on the assembly line or on the campus, you can be someone's
  338. 23:10prayer because there's a mother and a father, a grandmother on their knees crying out to the
  339. 23:16Lord saying, please send somebody to share the gospel with my nephew. Please send somebody
  340. 23:21to share the gospel with my grandson. And when we're obedient, we're fishers of men, and
  341. 23:28we open up our mouth to tell somebody about the love of God, the psalmist said, let the
  342. 23:32redeemed of the Lord say so.
  343. 23:34So we're obligated.
  344. 23:36That's this first thing that the Apostle Paul said,
  345. 23:39I'm obligated.
  346. 23:40You look around and people are hurting.
  347. 23:42They're not just in need of hope.
  348. 23:44They're desperate for hope.
  349. 23:45And it's like we've got the cure for cancer.
  350. 23:47It's even better than that.
  351. 23:49We have something that can change someone's life,
  352. 23:52not just for today, but for all eternity
  353. 23:56when we tell them that Jesus is a life changer.
  354. 23:59And Jesus said, I'm the way, the truth, and the life,
  355. 24:01no one comes to the Father except through me.
  356. 24:06So that's the first point I'm obligated.
  357. 24:10I am eager.
  358. 24:12Andrew, Simon Peter's brother,
  359. 24:15was one of the two who heard what John had said
  360. 24:18and who had followed Jesus.
  361. 24:20The first thing Andrew did was to find his brother, Simon,
  362. 24:24and tell him, we have found the Messiah, that is the Christ,
  363. 24:29and he brought him to Jesus.
  364. 24:31There's an entire sermon right there.
  365. 24:33Where would we be without Simon Peter?
  366. 24:36All the stories in the Bible.
  367. 24:38Well, it was Andrew who first heard of Jesus
  368. 24:43and the first thing Andrew did was to find his brother,
  369. 24:46Simon, and tell him we have found the Messiah.
  370. 24:49So I just hope this evening that you're eager
  371. 24:54to tell people about the love of God.
  372. 24:57You know, people say, well, I'm shy and religion
  373. 25:02as somebody's personal business.
  374. 25:05And I just don't think that's appropriate to go and meddle
  375. 25:09in people's personal life like that.
  376. 25:12Well, the first of these three points were obligated.
  377. 25:15That's what Jesus said when the Holy Spirit comes on you,
  378. 25:18you will be my witness.
  379. 25:20And then people will say, well, I'm not real good
  380. 25:23at conversations, I'm kind of shy.
  381. 25:26You know what?
  382. 25:27You talk about the things that you love.
  383. 25:29The Bible says out of the abundance of the heart,
  384. 25:32the mouth speaks.
  385. 25:33So people don't have to go to class to learn how to talk
  386. 25:36about their grandbabies.
  387. 25:37If your grandfather, if your grandmother is just gonna flow,
  388. 25:41you're gonna find a way to work that into conversation.
  389. 25:44If you love sports, if you love to hunt,
  390. 25:47if you love to fish, you don't have to go to a seminar
  391. 25:50to learn how to talk about deer hunting or bass fishing
  392. 25:54are all these things that are important to you.
  393. 25:57Something that you love,
  394. 25:58something that brings value into your life,
  395. 26:00like those grandchildren,
  396. 26:02you just can find a way to work that into conversation.
  397. 26:05So, you know, it sounds a little bit painful to say,
  398. 26:09but I think if we just love Jesus more,
  399. 26:11if we spend more time in the Word,
  400. 26:13take more time to talk to Him,
  401. 26:15be connected to a Bible believing church,
  402. 26:17if we just fall head over He's in love with Jesus.
  403. 26:20Get as much in love with Jesus,
  404. 26:23as Taylor Swift fans are in love with her.
  405. 26:27Or maybe we should say how they have her as an idol.
  406. 26:31But if we'll get head over hills in love with Jesus,
  407. 26:34like sports fans, like people that love to hunt and fish
  408. 26:38and all the rest, then you're gonna find a way
  409. 26:41to work that into a conversation.
  410. 26:43Here's what I try to do when I see a clerk,
  411. 26:45when somebody's on the other side of the pump,
  412. 26:47when I'm pumping gas into my truck,
  413. 26:50I'll say, boy, the Lord sure has given us a good day.
  414. 26:53just, I know that's just a little bit generic and that's not, you know, sharing the Romans
  415. 26:58road, but it just is a little bit of a spark. It's just a little bit of a seed planet. And
  416. 27:04I cannot tell you how many times people will go. He sure has. And then I've fleshed out
  417. 27:09a fellow believer or, you know, I'll say something else about boy, the Lord sure is good to us.
  418. 27:14He's better to me than I'm than I deserve. And then, you know, I've had conversations where
  419. 27:19they say, you know, that's interesting. You'd say that because I've just been thinking about
  420. 27:23God lately thinking I need to get back in church and I can't tell you how many times just if you look
  421. 27:27for ways, if you have those antenna up and you're looking for ways to just plant a seed for the Lord
  422. 27:33just to brag on Jesus to invite somebody to church. There are a lot of things we can do to share the
  423. 27:39gospel. Hey I'll be back with more here these three points I'm obligated. I'm eager and I'm not
  424. 27:48And we're going to talk about some of the excuses we have for not sharing our faith
  425. 27:54and maybe offer some ways for us to push past our fear, to pray for a burden for the loss.
  426. 28:00But can you imagine if all of the people listening to this show right now,
  427. 28:04if we said, I'm going to do it, I'm going to push past my fear.
  428. 28:08And this evening, before I go to bed, I'm going to tell somebody about Jesus,
  429. 28:12somebody at the corner store, a neighbor, somebody that the Lord laid in my heart.
  430. 28:17I'm gonna text somebody or call somebody and say,
  431. 28:19I should have told you this a long time ago,
  432. 28:22but I realized my need for God.
  433. 28:25I repented of my sins, and I received Jesus Christ
  434. 28:29in my heart and life by faith.
  435. 28:31I'm not perfect, but I'm saved.
  436. 28:34I'm born again.
  437. 28:36I'm on my way to heaven, and it really is good news.
  438. 28:39And Jesus is a life changer,
  439. 28:40and I just wanted to share that with you
  440. 28:42because you're my neighbor,
  441. 28:44or because we go to the gym together,
  442. 28:45to the gym together or because you fill in the blank.
  443. 28:49People are hurting a lost and dying world and we need to be about the Father's business
  444. 28:56going into the highways and the byways compelling them to come.
  445. 29:00Let's tell someone about Jesus, the life changer.
  446. 29:03We'll be back.
  447. 29:04Thanks for listening to the Hamilton Corner.

  455. 29:54The term Providence means God's super-intending care over his creation.
  456. 29:59America's providential history with Stephen McDowell.
  457. 30:03God is at work performing His will in history.
  458. 30:08And so through this podcast, we're going to be taking a look at the providence of God
  459. 30:13and the history and in particular in the history of America.
  460. 30:17America's Provedential History, available now on the podcast page at AFR.net.
  461. 30:24I feel no sting.
  462. 30:26I feel no fear.
  463. 30:28This is David Wheaton, host of the Christian worldview.
  464. 30:32As were reportedly some of the last words of Pastor John MacArthur on his deathbed before
  465. 30:37he went to heaven recently.
  466. 30:391 Corinthians 15 says, The sting of death is sin and the power of sin is the law, but thanks
  467. 30:45be to God who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
  468. 30:51John MacArthur didn't have this confidence because he preached so many powerful sermons
  469. 30:55and impacted so many people.
  470. 30:57everyone else, he was a sinner in need of salvation. But he believed God in his gospel,
  471. 31:03and it was credited to him as righteousness.
  472. 31:06Here part two of our program on John MacArthur at TheChristianWorldView.org, and then tuning
  473. 31:12this weekend as we discuss how to grow in your love of God.
  474. 31:17Listen to The Christian World View with David Wheaton, Saturday mornings at 8 Central, on
  475. 31:21American Family Radio.
  476. 31:23The Hamilton Corner Podcast and One-Minute Common Terrence are available at AFR.net.
  477. 31:34Back to the Hamilton Corner on American Family Radio.
  478. 31:37Well, Abe is out.
  479. 31:45I'm filling in for him.
  480. 31:47I'm JJ Jasper.
  481. 31:48Thank you so much for listening to the Hamilton Corner.
  482. 31:52Thank you for your love and prayers and support for AFA and AFR.
  483. 31:57And Abe is the expert.
  484. 31:59I'm not going to embarrass myself by trying to be a political pundit, but I did at least
  485. 32:04acknowledge some of the news of the day on the front end of the program.
  486. 32:09And then I wanted to share a message, something that's been on my heart.
  487. 32:13It seems like that we used to share the gospel more many years ago.
  488. 32:19We're talking about personal evangelism.
  489. 32:22We used to share gospel tracks and have the four spiritual laws and have the Roman road
  490. 32:28ready to share with someone at a park or in our neighborhood or at the gym.
  491. 32:34It just seems like there were Saturdays, people would even go knocking door to door and invite
  492. 32:41people to church and share the gospel with people.
  493. 32:44It seems like that is very, very rare these days.
  494. 32:48We started with a few just joined us.
  495. 32:50We've started with a little section of scripture, Romans 1
  496. 32:54verses 14 through 16.
  497. 32:56And I'm going to read this short passage again.
  498. 32:59Might read a little different in your Bible.
  499. 33:01I'm reading from the NIV version, Romans 1 verses 14 through 16.
  500. 33:05Listen for these three phrases and feel free to share this and use this.
  501. 33:10I'm obligated.
  502. 33:12I am eager.
  503. 33:14I am not ashamed.
  504. 33:16I'm obligated both to Greeks and non-Greeks, both to the wise and the foolish. That is why I am so
  505. 33:23eager to share the gospel also to you who are at Rome. I am not ashamed of the gospel
  506. 33:30because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes first for the Jew,
  507. 33:36then for the Gentile. And earlier we were talking about how we're obligated. Jesus said go into all
  508. 33:43all the world and preach the good news. He said that when the Holy Spirit comes on you,
  509. 33:48you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and Judea and Samaria until the ends of the earth, Acts
  510. 33:531 8. He said that he would make his fishers of men and then being eager. Andrew, Simon's
  511. 34:00Peter's brother, when he heard about Jesus, the first thing Andrew did was to find his
  512. 34:06brother, Simon, and tell him we have found the Messiah, that is the Christ. And he brought
  513. 34:12him to Jesus. How about this from many of the Samaritans from that town believed in him because
  514. 34:20of the woman's testimony. He told me everything I did. You remember the story there in John 4 verse 39
  515. 34:28where the Samaritan woman is there and Jesus is telling her very, very personal things about her
  516. 34:33life. And finally she goes and tells the people in the village, you're just not going to believe
  517. 34:38how unique how amazing this guy is. And you know, I think I've found the Messiah. And she tells the
  518. 34:44villagers and they come out because of her testimony and many of them believe in the Lord because of
  519. 34:50her testimony. But then it says when Jesus started to teach that many more believe because they heard
  520. 34:57from from the Christ. We talk about the things we love sports, new babies, grandchildren, hunting,
  521. 35:07and fishing and I just want to encourage you to fall head over hills in love with the Lord
  522. 35:12Jesus Christ so that that's going to be who you want to at least talk about occasionally.
  523. 35:19I invite people to church. There work on your campus as classes resume. So I'm obligated.
  524. 35:27I am eager and then I am not ashamed. Then Peter remembered the word Jesus had spoken.
  525. 35:36before the rooster crows, you will disown me three times.
  526. 35:39And he went outside and wept bitterly.
  527. 35:43Matthew 26 verse 75.
  528. 35:45Jesus said in Mark 838,
  529. 35:48if anyone is ashamed of me and my words
  530. 35:51in this adulterous and sinful generation,
  531. 35:53the Son of Man will be ashamed of him
  532. 35:55when he comes in his father's glory with the holy angels.
  533. 36:00Sometimes when I am not sharing the gospel,
  534. 36:04like I think I should. And this is not about legalism. This is just about being obedient to the mandate that Jesus left us with. Look, I'm going to the Father. I'm leaving here. You hear to be my representatives to be well to be my ambassadors.
  535. 36:21I didn't know if I was going to have enough time to read this second Corinthians the fifth chapter. Therefore, any man be in Christ, he is a new creature. All things are passed away. Behold, all things are become new.
  536. 36:33And it says, and all things are of God who has reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ
  537. 36:40and given to us the ministry of reconciliation, that God was in Christ reconciling the world
  538. 36:47unto himself, not imputing their trespasses into them.
  539. 36:52He's committed unto us the word of reconciliation.
  540. 36:55Listen to this from 2 Corinthians 5 verse 20.
  541. 36:58Now then we are ambassadors for Christ.
  542. 37:02As though God did beseech you by us, we pray you in Christ's dead that you be reconciled
  543. 37:08to God, for He hath made Him to be sin for us who knew no sin, that we might be made the
  544. 37:14righteousness of God in Him.
  545. 37:17You are an ambassador.
  546. 37:19If you know the Lord, if you have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, you're an
  547. 37:22ambassador just like if we sent ambassadors to France and different countries, they don't
  548. 37:30have to pay for their own gas, they don't have to buy their own clothes, they're being
  549. 37:35taken care of and their needs are met so they can be a good representative, so they can be
  550. 37:42a good, so they're on display to say, hey America is a pretty good place. We're here to be an
  551. 37:48an ambassador for America to let you know that we're all about faith, family, and freedom.
  552. 37:53Well, they go to these different countries and they're an ambassador to tell the good news
  553. 38:00about America or whatever country they're an ambassador from.
  554. 38:04We're ambassadors of God.
  555. 38:06What an easy message to share, someone who's never ever lost a battle.
  556. 38:12He's never ever coming second.
  557. 38:13He's never ever tied.
  558. 38:14always victorious for God so loved the world that he gave us only begotten Son that whosoever believe
  559. 38:20it than him should not perish but have everlasting life. You have verses like Romans 5, 8 where it
  560. 38:26just says that the verse that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us and so God loves you.
  561. 38:33He's not mad at you. He's not out to get you. He loves you with an everlasting love and Jesus Christ
  562. 38:40that little baby born in the manger who lived a sinless life he never ever sinned and he willingly
  563. 38:46went to the cross to pay your penalty for sin to nail my sins to the cross if you will. And it's all
  564. 38:54because of the virgin birth, the sinless life, the life, the death, the burial, and the resurrection of
  565. 39:01our Lord and Savior that we can be born again. We can be in right relationship with our maker. We
  566. 39:06we can be in right relationship with our Creator.
  567. 39:09And that is good news.
  568. 39:11You don't have to die in your sins.
  569. 39:14You don't have to die and be separated from God
  570. 39:16for all eternity.
  571. 39:18And again, it's like we have the cure for cancer,
  572. 39:21but even better.
  573. 39:22And what kind of terrible monster would keep that to themselves
  574. 39:26and say, I've got the cure for cancer and it's free.
  575. 39:29And I can freely tell people about it in their lives
  576. 39:31will be completely changed and they'll be made whole.
  577. 39:34So that's the gospel.
  578. 39:36We say your sins can be forgiven.
  579. 39:38You can be in a right relationship with your maker.
  580. 39:40God loves you.
  581. 39:42He's not mad at you.
  582. 39:43He's not out to get you.
  583. 39:44He longs for a faith-filled, spirit-led relationship
  584. 39:48with you and we're His ambassador.
  585. 39:51So sometimes I have to admit it.
  586. 39:53I felt just a little bit embarrassed,
  587. 39:55a little bit ashamed to at the gym or to a neighbor.
  588. 40:01It just seemed like, oh, they're not gonna wanna hear this.
  589. 40:04And you know what, the times that I've shared the gospel, probably 18 out of 20 times people
  590. 40:10are receptive and they're glad to hear it because again, people are hurting and they're not just
  591. 40:16in need of hope, they're desperate for hope and we've got the best news ever to share with
  592. 40:22them.
  593. 40:23So here are some excuses that I've had and maybe you've thought about this or struggled
  594. 40:27with this.
  595. 40:30You just feel like, well, I don't know the Bible like I should.
  596. 40:34What if they ask me a question?
  597. 40:36You know, you don't have to be a theologian.
  598. 40:38You can be like that fellow who he said he was blind and he said, I once was blind and
  599. 40:45now I can see and Jesus did it.
  600. 40:47And the high priest, the Pharisees, the different ones there, they tried to rebuke him and persecute
  601. 40:54him and he continued to say, look, it's true, I was blind.
  602. 40:58Now I can see Jesus did it and they even went and got his parents and you know, what's going
  603. 41:02on here?
  604. 41:03We know he's been blind from birth.
  605. 41:05He is our son, but we don't know what happened.
  606. 41:09And they were afraid and they threw him under the bus, if you will.
  607. 41:13And they said, he's an adult, ask him.
  608. 41:15And he just doubled down and said, look how simple that testimony was.
  609. 41:20I once was blind, now I can see.
  610. 41:23And Jesus is the one who did it.
  611. 41:24Jesus is a life changer.
  612. 41:27And so you don't have to have the Bible memorized.
  613. 41:29You don't have to be perfect.
  614. 41:30None of us are if you're waiting before you're perfect, before you're in the Bible.
  615. 41:33you share the gospel with someone that's likely not to happen.
  616. 41:37But I just want to encourage you to fall in love with Jesus, pray for a burden for the
  617. 41:43lost.
  618. 41:44You know, that's not something we're going to just really normally naturally do.
  619. 41:49But when you realize that in these last days or somebody just driving to work or you pick
  620. 41:54up the daily paper and you see in the obits how life is fragile, life is precious, but
  621. 42:00it's also fragile.
  622. 42:02So you never know when someone's going to breathe their last breath.
  623. 42:04So pray for a burden for the lost, push past your fear, open your mouth and speak up for Jesus.
  624. 42:11What are we waiting for?
  625. 42:13And I'll end with, I had an opportunity to do the chapel for a wonderful Christian
  626. 42:22university in North Mississippi, Blue Mountain Christian University.
  627. 42:26I actually had a daughter, Maddie, who was going there, graduated from there.
  628. 42:30Our kids are kind of scattered out.
  629. 42:32One went to Mississippi State University.
  630. 42:35Another daughter attended the community college,
  631. 42:39and that was a good experience.
  632. 42:41Maddie, she was a student at Blue Mountain Christian University.
  633. 42:45I wholeheartedly endorsed and support that university.
  634. 42:49If you're looking for a place to have international students,
  635. 42:52they have students from all over America,
  636. 42:54but I was honored and privileged to do the chapel.
  637. 42:56And I had this message on my heart.
  638. 42:59And I don't, you know, I'm not gimmicky or anything like that,
  639. 43:03but I wanted to do something.
  640. 43:04And so this was very unconventional for me.
  641. 43:07I'd heard something on Focus on the Family.
  642. 43:09This was actually something they were talking about
  643. 43:12in terms of trying to win people over
  644. 43:15in the pro-life community and for the pro-life calls.
  645. 43:19And they said, don't feel bad if you don't think
  646. 43:22you have to win the argument and go, you know,
  647. 43:25from first base all the way to home plate
  648. 43:27in one encounter with somebody at the gym, at the park,
  649. 43:31or a family gathering.
  650. 43:34If you just, the person said,
  651. 43:36if you just put a pebble in their shoe.
  652. 43:40And I think Jim Daley or one of the others said,
  653. 43:42do what?
  654. 43:43If you just put a pebble in their shoe.
  655. 43:46If you've ever been hiking,
  656. 43:48if you've ever been out in the woods or the mountains
  657. 43:53and you're going on a down a path
  658. 43:55and you get a pebble in your shoe,
  659. 43:57even if it's so tiny, you can't ignore it.
  660. 44:02You can't think of anything else.
  661. 44:03You're just like, you know, you're talking to me
  662. 44:06and I'm trying to concentrate, I'm trying to focus,
  663. 44:09but I'm so sorry, I've got a pebble in my shoe.
  664. 44:11And right now it just has all my attention.
  665. 44:13When you tell someone, God bless you,
  666. 44:16when you say, boy, the Lord sure has given us
  667. 44:18a beautiful day to the clerk,
  668. 44:20when you write a Bible verse on something,
  669. 44:23when you plan a seed,
  670. 44:24That's what we said for many years, but I think we've said that so much.
  671. 44:27Maybe it's lost a little bit of the meaning, you know, hey,
  672. 44:30I just want to plant a seed and say a little something, put a little plug in for
  673. 44:35the Lord.
  674. 44:36So I actually took Bobby.
  675. 44:38I took buckets of pebbles to this chapel and I said, this is going to be very
  676. 44:44unorthodox.
  677. 44:45I want everybody to take off your right shoe, all these college kids, full
  678. 44:49chapel, put a pebble in your shoe.
  679. 44:53And then here's what I want you to do.
  680. 44:55before the days over, when you feel that pebble,
  681. 45:00when you notice that pebble, when it has your attention,
  682. 45:03tell somebody about Jesus, because you go to the corner
  683. 45:06or store there, that person may not even be from America.
  684. 45:10They need to hear the gospel.
  685. 45:11The different ones, you know, on campus,
  686. 45:14they may or may not have a personal relationship
  687. 45:16with Jesus, but just leave the pebble in there
  688. 45:19till the end of the day.
  689. 45:20When it has your attention, when you're thinking about it,
  690. 45:23you think to share the gospel.
  691. 45:25Well, after the chapel, I went over to the lunch room
  692. 45:29after saying hello to the students
  693. 45:31and I went with my daughter, Maddie, to the lunch room.
  694. 45:34I walked by the table and the college boy said,
  695. 45:37boy, that sure was a good message you had
  696. 45:40about sharing the gospel.
  697. 45:41And I said, well, I said, tell somebody about Jesus.
  698. 45:44He said, I've done did.
  699. 45:45I said, what?
  700. 45:46He said, this pebble's got my attention.
  701. 45:48It's all I can think about.
  702. 45:49So I told the lunch lady, I said, do you know,
  703. 45:54because anybody told you today that Jesus loves you
  704. 45:56and they died on the cross for your sins
  705. 45:58and because of the life, the death, the burial,
  706. 46:00the resurrection of Jesus Christ you can have help
  707. 46:03and hope within who wanna Matty's roommates,
  708. 46:08at the end of the day, she took the pebble out of her shoe
  709. 46:11and the next morning she had the pebble on the table
  710. 46:15and she's gonna put it back in her shoe
  711. 46:16and my daughter Matty said, no, no, that was just
  712. 46:19for the end of the day, she told my daughter,
  713. 46:22I shared the gospel with more people today
  714. 46:25than I probably have in the last 10 years.
  715. 46:28I'm gonna put that pebble back in my shoe today
  716. 46:32to remind me that people are hurting.
  717. 46:35We're sinners who need a Savior
  718. 46:38and Jesus is a life changer.
  719. 46:40Thank you for letting me fill in.
  720. 46:42I'm obligated, I'm eager, I'm not ashamed.
  721. 46:45Tell someone about Jesus before the sun sets
  722. 46:48and let it be a part of our everyday life.
  723. 46:51Imagine what would happen if all of us shared the gospel someone who needed that hope.
