  9. 0:26Let's not miss our moment.
  10. 0:28And now the Hamilton Corner.
  11. 0:31Well, good evening, everybody.
  12. 0:34Welcome to the Hamilton Corner, Abraham Hamilton.
  13. 0:36The third here, we are still here at the NRB 2025 convention,
  14. 0:43here at the beautiful Gaylord Texan Resort and Conference Center.
  15. 0:46We are on the exhibit hall floor.
  16. 0:49Once again, I see Dr. Peck, Dr. Jessica Peck is right there.
  17. 0:52I'm waving to her.
  18. 0:53She's like, hey, I don't want to interrupt your show.
  19. 0:55It's just a wonderful opportunity everybody to see everybody,
  20. 0:58see co laborers in the faith fighting a good fight and fight in their various areas all
  21. 1:03over the country geographically but also in the various areas of the expertise all over
  22. 1:07the country.
  23. 1:08I am extremely excited about today's edition of the program because we're going to have
  24. 1:14a much much much needed conversation.
  25. 1:18I'll tell you now we're going to have a guest but I won't tell you who they are just yet
  26. 1:23because I want to give you a little bit of suspense.
  27. 1:26I am eager to have this conversation today at this very moment. Many of you, if not most of you,
  28. 1:32are making your transition from your part-time jobs where you generate an income
  29. 1:35to your full-time jobs where you cultivate an outcome. And as you do so, I want to remind you
  30. 1:40to make your move with intentionality. Understand the primacy that God places on the family.
  31. 1:46We will never be able to out-politik. We'll never be able, frankly, to out-church deficiencies
  32. 1:51that abound in the home.
  33. 1:54This is why I say all the time, what goes on in your house
  34. 1:56is far more important, far more important than what goes on in the White House.
  35. 2:01And we need to have the appropriate disposition, the appropriate posture
  36. 2:04to understand that and to respond to that accordingly.
  37. 2:10Okay, this is the outside's need of the moment.
  38. 2:13I am grateful for things that are happening at the governmental level,
  39. 2:16but I'm going to tell you, in order for our nation to be the type of nation we need to be
  40. 2:21and have the type of enduring changes that must take place,
  41. 2:24it has to happen at a personal, foundational, and familial level. This is why I say all the time live
  42. 2:30locally. The call of the Lord for His bride is to make disciples. And this is what we should,
  43. 2:38and we must be overly invested in. So again, as you're making your transition from your part-time job,
  44. 2:44your income-generating capacity to your full-time jobs, please understand the primacy that God
  45. 2:49places on family. The first human institution to God established before the
  46. 2:53modern iterations of civil government, before orders of priests, before orders
  47. 2:58of prophets. The first institution to God established was the family with marriage
  48. 3:04at the center. This is not to despise it, it'd integrate other stations of life,
  49. 3:09other things that we're involved in, but we also shouldn't allow those things to
  50. 3:13to cause us to have a jaundiced view of God's primary institution.
  51. 3:20So as you're making a transition, we want to do so well.
  52. 3:23Let's turn to the word of God, to the book of 1 Thessalonians, just by way of reminder.
  53. 3:29Remember in the book of Acts when Paul made his way to Thessalonica, all right?
  54. 3:34He was only able to be there about two weeks because the locals were whipped up into a frenzy.
  55. 3:43And so as you might imagine, they had all kinds of questions because the Lord opened the hearts
  56. 3:47of believers in that area and for a church to be founded in that area.
  57. 3:53And so Paul ended up making, interacting with them because they had all kinds of questions.
  58. 3:58All right.
  59. 3:59And we have what I believe is pertinent information available to us in Paul's first Epistle to
  60. 4:04the Thessalonian believers in 1 Thessalonians chapter 4, 1 Thessalonians chapter 4 verses
  61. 4:101 through...
  62. 4:11Let me make sure I got it.
  63. 4:13One through about verse eight.
  64. 4:15First thessalonians chapter four, verses one through eight.
  65. 4:20This is what the word of God says very plainly,
  66. 4:21finally then brethren.
  67. 4:23We request that exhort you in the Lord Jesus
  68. 4:28that as you received from us instruction
  69. 4:30as to how you ought to walk and please God,
  70. 4:33just as you actually do walk,
  71. 4:36that you excel still more.
  72. 4:39For you know what commandments we gave you
  73. 4:41by the authority of the Lord Jesus.
  74. 4:43For this is the will of God, your sanctification.
  75. 4:47That is that you abstain from sexual immorality,
  76. 4:52that each of you know how to possess his own vessel
  77. 4:55in sanctification and honor, not in lustful passion.
  78. 5:00Or some translations there say, concupiscence,
  79. 5:04like the Gentiles who do not know God,
  80. 5:06and that no man transgressing defraud his brother
  81. 5:08in the matter, because the Lord is the avenger
  82. 5:11in all these things.
  83. 5:12Just as we also told you before and solemnly warned you,
  84. 5:15for God has not called us for the purpose of impurity,
  85. 5:20but in sanctification.
  86. 5:22So he who rejects this is not rejecting man,
  87. 5:26but the God who gives his Holy Spirit to you.
  88. 5:30One of the major things I want to focus on
  89. 5:32is right in verse five.
  90. 5:33For this is the will of, sorry, verse three.
  91. 5:35For this is the will of God, your sanctification.
  92. 5:38That is that you abstain from sexual immorality.
  93. 5:41As you've explained before, the Greek word for immorality there is
  94. 5:44poor Nea, where our English word pornography is derived from.
  95. 5:49What the Lord is condemning is not only the physical activity,
  96. 5:54but also the attitude and the intention of the heart
  97. 5:57that is riddled with lust.
  98. 6:01He emphasizes this even more, that each of you know,
  99. 6:04verse four, that each of you know how to possess
  100. 6:05his own vessel in satification and honor,
  101. 6:07not in lustful passion, or concupisense
  102. 6:12is what the King James says.
  103. 6:13That literally is that Greek word literally means
  104. 6:15craving or desire for what is forbidden.
  105. 6:20And then finally, again, emphasizing this point in verse seven,
  106. 6:23for God has not called us for the purpose of impurity,
  107. 6:26but in sanctification.
  108. 6:29We have talked at length on this program.
  109. 6:32I mean, the Barnard group just put out a study concerning
  110. 6:34the prevalence of pornography, that not just those
  111. 6:37who are in the world are racked with it,
  112. 6:41but in the church as well, passes as well.
  113. 6:45that this prevalent wickedness is something
  114. 6:48that we will never be able to have.
  115. 6:51Let me say it better.
  116. 6:53Without exercising self-control in this area
  117. 6:56and pursuing purity, we'll never have the type of potency
  118. 7:00we need as the body of Christ.
  119. 7:01Because this is one of the things you've heard me say,
  120. 7:03Satan does not like to contend with full-grown opposition.
  121. 7:06You know, there's a prophecy of a deliverer coming to Israel.
  122. 7:08I'm sorry, coming to Egypt for the people of Israel,
  123. 7:11the Hebrew people, the satanic emphasis of Pharaoh,
  124. 7:14kill all the baby boys. There's a prophecy of Messiah coming to Israel, under Herod, the
  125. 7:21demonic impetus for Herod, kill all the baby boys. It's not like to deal with full-grown
  126. 7:23opposition. The enemy knows the potency of godly men in the economy of the kingdom of
  127. 7:30God. So what does he seek to do? Cut them off at their infancy. Cut them off at their
  128. 7:34kneecaps. We're living in a time where we live in a panogrified society. Statistics show young
  129. 7:40men have their first encounters in these areas at very, very, very young ages. We know
  130. 7:45for a fact, increasing amounts of women are consuming this pornographic material as well.
  131. 7:52There is a, they should be a red alarm and red alert for the purity of God's bride.
  132. 8:00I've explained to you guys before that there is a distinction between purity and abstinence.
  133. 8:07And Jeff, I need to ask how much time do I have left in this segment.
  134. 8:10There's a distinction between purity and abstinence.
  135. 8:17is abstaining from what is desire.
  136. 8:22Purity however, is the attitude and the intention of the heart.
  137. 8:27It's a heart condition that precedes conduct.
  138. 8:32We cannot be the force that God would have us to be
  139. 8:37if we have a compromised bride.
  140. 8:41The bride's compromised status is reflected
  141. 8:47and having an overwhelming percentage of Christian men who are overcome by the sin of lust
  142. 8:57indicated by their consumption of pornography. This is something that has to be confronted head on.
  143. 9:02This is something that has to be addressed directly. And frankly, there are many who refuse to do so,
  144. 9:08and I don't mean this to be condemning. I'm just stating this as a matter of reality.
  145. 9:12There are many who refuse to do so frankly because they are compromised. We're living in a time period
  146. 9:18where you be hard pressed to find many young men who have not been or have not
  147. 9:26struggled in this area. Thankfully there's some who although they've been exposed
  148. 9:32to pornography they have not been overcome by it but there are far more
  149. 9:36who have been overcome by it. I mean I was minister to a young man not too long
  150. 9:42ago you know. Innocent young man unfortunately wasn't supervised appropriately
  151. 9:47had access to the internet at his grandparents home, was trying to do a search for basketball
  152. 9:56equipment and football equipment and was trying to find Dick's sporting goods on the
  153. 10:00internet.
  154. 10:02To cut right to the chase and not to belabor it, he ain't find Dick's sporting goods.
  155. 10:08That led to a multiple decades longs of a struggle.
  156. 10:14This was not somebody who had this crime and this is a little boy, seven or eight years
  157. 10:18old, whose mind was twisted because he was allowed to have, unfortunately, unsupervised
  158. 10:25access to the internet.
  159. 10:26Looking for Dick's Sporting Goods found not Dick's Sporting Goods.
  160. 10:29I can tell you story after story after story after story, past his children.
  161. 10:33People have counseled story after story after story, but because nobody, I won't say nobody,
  162. 10:37but because it's not confronted directly often.
  163. 10:43There are lots of people who are struggling in silos and anonymity.
  164. 10:49I've shared with you the statistics on this program
  165. 10:52that the pornography industry generates more revenue
  166. 10:55than the NBA, the NFL, Major League Baseball combined.
  167. 11:03I've shared right on this program
  168. 11:05that pornography websites have more traffic
  169. 11:09than Amazon, Netflix, LinkedIn,
  170. 11:12and the top non-prographic websites combined.
  171. 11:17Guys, this is endemic.
  172. 11:21And it's not the kind of thing that's just going to go away on its own.
  173. 11:24We have to have one, a battle plan, but most importantly, the willingness to confront it.
  174. 11:32Because here's the reality.
  175. 11:34Jesus Christ died.
  176. 11:36Wait, came, lived a sinless life, died or was resurrected, not merely to conform our conduct
  177. 11:41with the transformers at a heart level, to transform us at a heart level.
  178. 11:45And one of the downsides of this digital age is that the thing that older men had
  179. 11:51to work feverishly to get in magazine form.
  180. 11:55Now, trying to get it.
  181. 11:59Everybody carries around these microcomputers
  182. 12:02in their pockets.
  183. 12:05We've got to deal with it.
  184. 12:06My hope for today's program is that we'll
  185. 12:08be able to confront this.
  186. 12:10And I'm going to bring a guest on who's written a book about this.
  187. 12:14But this is a battle that has to be fought.
  188. 12:18This is a battle that has to be fought.
  189. 12:20One of the things I've learned over time
  190. 12:21is that sin is the opposite of a plant.
  191. 12:23Sin grows in darkness.
  192. 12:26You know how plants, in order for them to grow,
  193. 12:28and to flourish, and eat water,
  194. 12:29and what else do they need?
  195. 12:30Light, they need sunlight.
  196. 12:32Sin is the opposite.
  197. 12:33It grows in darkness.
  198. 12:37In order to have the type of freedom we need to have,
  199. 12:42we have to confront this sinfulness in the light.
  200. 12:46We have to bring it down into the light.
  201. 12:50Many of you listening right now, you know anecdotally
  202. 12:52how many people in your immediate sphere of influence
  203. 12:55have been impacted by pornography?
  204. 12:58How many are currently struggling with pornography?
  205. 13:03How many pastors are struggling with the sin of lust
  206. 13:10exemplified through pornography consumption
  207. 13:15and nobody around them knows about it?
  208. 13:17We gotta confront it head on.
  209. 13:19We gotta bring the sin out into the light.
  210. 13:21And I strongly believe that as the men
  211. 13:24God are able to come before Him, lifting up holy hands without wrath or doubt, and able
  212. 13:29to walk in purity and transparency that we will see a restoration of potency to the body
  213. 13:35of Christ.
  214. 13:36I was at an event not too long ago with my brother, Will Addison, and he made this statement, and
  215. 13:40I will never forget it.
  216. 13:41He said, brothers, your purity is your wife's security.
  217. 13:46Your purity is your wife's security.
  218. 13:48And I know that someone, listen to me, someone that fellas might be listening to me right now,
  219. 13:52You can't even envision your life without your habitual consumption.
  220. 14:01We have to get free. We have to get free. And I pray that today's program will be a tool that God uses
  221. 14:08to allow that to happen. A major, major, major plot from an enemy who does not like to condemn a full
  222. 14:15grown up, a contend with full grown opposition is to ensnare our boys at young ages and to have
  223. 14:21them to grow up with their manhood impacted by pornographic addictions, which really is being
  224. 14:29overcome by sinfulness.
  225. 14:30But God's grace will be free.
  226. 14:32And the God that we serve is still in the business of setting people free.
  227. 14:37Just like He sets people free from all manner of sinful lifestyles, God can set you free,
  228. 14:42brother.
  229. 14:44God can set you free from pornography.
  230. 14:48Stay with us.
  231. 14:49Share this show.
  232. 14:51If you never share this program that we've done before, today is the day.
  233. 14:54Share this show more when we get back from this break.
  234. 15:01Psalm 2 is the hub of all messianic prophecies.
  235. 15:04It even has God's perspective on those who oppose him.
  236. 15:08In verse 3, the God haters reinterpret his moral law when he clashes with their desires.
  237. 15:13But Psalm 2 12 is true.
  238. 15:15Do homage to the son that he not become angry and you perish in the way.
  239. 15:19For his wrath may soon be kindled.
  240. 15:22the full article for some God's holiness's
  241. 15:24fetters and cords by me, Dr. Ray Rooney, on thestand.net.
  242. 15:35Shiting light into the darkness, this is the Hamilton
  243. 15:38Corner, an American family radio.
  244. 15:41Welcome back to the Hamilton Corner, Abraham Hamilton the third,
  245. 15:43and I have to tell you, I am honored, excited, humbled,
  246. 15:46overwhelmed by the opportunity that I have now,
  247. 15:50providentially, I would say, to have on the program with me
  248. 15:53the president of Living Waters, the ministry, founded
  249. 15:57pioneered by Ray Comfort, evangelistic outreach.
  250. 16:01They have all kinds of offerings,
  251. 16:03but the president of the ministry is my guest
  252. 16:05seated to my left, Emile Zwain,
  253. 16:09who's most commonly known as EZ.
  254. 16:12EZ, thank you for joining me here on the program.
  255. 16:14Hey, what a joy to be with you, man.
  256. 16:16You're right, it was providential,
  257. 16:17the way that we just connected like that.
  258. 16:19Yeah.
  259. 16:20And it's a thrill to be with you, brother.
  260. 16:22Thank you for having me.
  261. 16:23And thanks for taking this topic on.
  262. 16:25Oh, man.
  263. 16:25because it's not a popular topic in terms of discussion,
  264. 16:30but it's a prevalent one, it's a serious one,
  265. 16:32and we need to tackle it, man.
  266. 16:34We definitely need to tackle it.
  267. 16:35I was just talking in the opening segment,
  268. 16:37I always do a biblical segment on the program,
  269. 16:41going straight from the scripture first,
  270. 16:42Thessalonians chapter four, about God's call
  271. 16:45for his people not merely to be absent, but to be pure.
  272. 16:48Amen.
  273. 16:49And there's a distinction between absent and impurity.
  274. 16:52because abstinence is simply abstaining
  275. 16:55from a particular conduct.
  276. 16:56But you can be abstinent while longing
  277. 16:57for the very same thing in your heart.
  278. 16:59Absolutely.
  279. 17:00It's often been said, you think that the people
  280. 17:03that have money, greed issues are people that are rich.
  281. 17:07That's not true, you could be dirt poor
  282. 17:09and have a greed problem.
  283. 17:12And the same thing, you could be abstaining externally,
  284. 17:16but man, you don't even need pornography
  285. 17:19to look at to lust in your heart and mind.
  286. 17:21and a lot of that is going on.
  287. 17:22And so, yeah, it's that passion and desire
  288. 17:26to please the Lord.
  289. 17:27Second Corinthians five, whether absent or present,
  290. 17:30we make it our aim to be well pleasing to Him.
  291. 17:33And He goes on to say,
  292. 17:34for we all must stand before the judgment seat of Christ.
  293. 17:37We're gonna give a count to the Lord.
  294. 17:38That's not popular to talk about,
  295. 17:39but that's a reality.
  296. 17:40And praise God for us as believers,
  297. 17:42it's not a judgment on decontamination.
  298. 17:44But we're gonna give a count for how faithful we were
  299. 17:48in our service of the Lord.
  300. 17:49Man, I don't want to have regrets on that day.
  301. 17:51Absolutely, neither do I.
  302. 17:53And it's, as you said, it's a topic that's not popular
  303. 17:55to discuss in public.
  304. 17:57Yeah.
  305. 17:58But it's overrunning the nation in general,
  306. 18:00but in particular, the body of Christ.
  307. 18:02Yeah, man, the statistics blew my mind.
  308. 18:0575% of professing Christian men dabble with pornography.
  309. 18:1040% of women and 18% of pastors,
  310. 18:14and I think that number is actually a lot higher
  311. 18:16because most won't be candid about it.
  312. 18:17Yes.
  313. 18:18what blew my mind was 95% of 11-year-olds will have looked at pornography.
  314. 18:24It's not just an epidemic, brother. It's a pandemic. It's ravaging individuals,
  315. 18:29it's ravaging families, it's ravaging the church. And that's what compelled me to write the book.
  316. 18:36I wanted a book that was biblically based, but anyone can quote scripture, but I wanted it
  317. 18:41to also be theologically sound, while being extremely practical and memorable and gospel-centric
  318. 18:49and something that would compel men to pursue holiness.
  319. 18:54And so I was hoping to hit those sweet spots and from the feedback by God's grace, it seems
  320. 18:59like the book has done that.
  321. 19:01So you mentioned the book and I want to show everybody who's watching the show.
  322. 19:04It is Fight Like a Man, a bold biblical battle plan for personal purity.
  323. 19:08right here written by E.Z. E. M. E.Z. Wayne and I encourage every Hamilton corner listener
  324. 19:14and viewer to get this book. If you are a sister, I know you have men in your lives who need this
  325. 19:21book. The body of Christ needs this book. It is, we need a new word. I mean pandemic, endemic,
  326. 19:29it is, it is wreaking outsized havoc. You have young men who are having their purity. I'm
  327. 19:34I'm sorry, they're innocent and true to the pawn.
  328. 19:36You have the reality of what God ordained to be
  329. 19:39holy matrimony, being impacted by people
  330. 19:42who have all types of inordinate affections
  331. 19:44that even follows them, even into their married lives.
  332. 19:47I mean, this is the kind of thing
  333. 19:48that we really have to confront and to address it.
  334. 19:51So I'm so grateful that you wrote the book
  335. 19:52and you're willing to come on to the show to discuss it.
  336. 19:55And then it's an interesting phenomenon
  337. 19:57because I know your wife is the daughter.
  338. 20:01A Rick Comfort, you know.
  339. 20:02Well, you know, it's crazy because, you know, Ray, Ray's been my father on all now coming
  340. 20:08on 29 years.
  341. 20:09Wow.
  342. 20:10He's an amazing guy.
  343. 20:11You know, people see him on our videos.
  344. 20:12They see him in the movies we put out.
  345. 20:14They hear him on our podcast.
  346. 20:16But the man you see and hear in all those places is the same man everywhere, man.
  347. 20:20Praise God.
  348. 20:21100% of the time he's the most humble, godly, gracious man.
  349. 20:24And so focused.
  350. 20:26Like he's got his calling and nothing's going to hinder him, you know.
  351. 20:30And it's awesome because a lot of people don't know this.
  352. 20:33Ray's of Jewish descent and I'm of Arab descent.
  353. 20:36And together we are the solution of these prizes.
  354. 20:39And in fact there's so much peace between us.
  355. 20:42We're going to start a new mattress company called Easy Comfort.
  356. 20:45And just call it a day.
  357. 20:48That is hilarious.
  358. 20:49But it's an honor.
  359. 20:50I pinch myself all the time.
  360. 20:51I'm like, now I get to serve with this guy.
  361. 20:53He's a giant of our times.
  362. 20:55And it's humbling.
  363. 20:57Amen.
  364. 20:58Amen.
  365. 20:59Let's get into the book.
  366. 21:00You wrote it the statistics as you mentioned are are a mon boggling to think about it. Yeah, what what?
  367. 21:07Were you seeking to accomplish by writing the book? Yeah?
  368. 21:10Well, I wanted men to recognize that there's hope
  369. 21:16because
  370. 21:17Even though I I do give men a kick in the pants in the book because we need that yeah
  371. 21:21We need that wake-up call of like look this is no joke
  372. 21:24But but on the flip side a lot of men don't have hope a lot of men have this sense like
  373. 21:30I'll never have victory over this.
  374. 21:32I'll never be free from this.
  375. 21:34Of course you have the men that don't care
  376. 21:37and I would urge them to examine themselves
  377. 21:40to see if they're in the faith
  378. 21:41to make a calling an election sure if they don't care.
  379. 21:43But then there are those that really do,
  380. 21:45but they're so ensnared, right?
  381. 21:47Because if you serve sin, you're a slave of sin.
  382. 21:49They're under its bondage.
  383. 21:51And they don't think there's hope.
  384. 21:53So I wanted to give men hope
  385. 21:55and I wanted to give them a practical battle plan.
  386. 21:58That's why the subtitle is a bold,
  387. 22:00Biblical battle plan for personal purity.
  388. 22:01And here's one of the problems that I found, Abe.
  389. 22:04It's that a lot of men have a peacetime mentality
  390. 22:08when they're in the midst of war.
  391. 22:10You know, imagine a soldier being deluded into thinking
  392. 22:14that he's on a luxury cruise ship,
  393. 22:16heading for the shores of Bora Bora to an exotic resort.
  394. 22:19When in reality, he's on a Higgins boat,
  395. 22:21heading for the shores of World War II Normandy.
  396. 22:23I mean, this dude's gonna saunter off the Higgins boat,
  397. 22:25clad in a bathrobe, some fluffy slippers,
  398. 22:27and a remote in one hand and a latte in the other.
  399. 22:30And he's gonna get smoked.
  400. 22:32So a lot of guys are acting like this is a game.
  401. 22:35Yeah, I know I need to stop this
  402. 22:37and they have their accountability groups
  403. 22:38and they just kinda share with each other
  404. 22:40how they're each stumbling and falling.
  405. 22:41And so they kinda almost affirm each other
  406. 22:44and comfort each other and they keep going.
  407. 22:45Normalized fallen.
  408. 22:46Yeah, but they're not doing anything about it.
  409. 22:48And that's why the title is Fight Like a Man.
  410. 22:50I start off the book with a war story
  411. 22:53of a war here named John Bassett on World War II.
  412. 22:55how this guy sacrificed himself for the sake of his comrades.
  413. 23:00And I talk about, look, being a man doesn't just include
  414. 23:03necessarily being super masculine and deep voice,
  415. 23:06to having a big beard and being athletic and strong.
  416. 23:08Of course, that's all included, perhaps.
  417. 23:11But a real man has character, conviction, integrity,
  418. 23:18commitment, devotion, dedication.
  419. 23:20A real man is willing to sacrifice in love
  420. 23:23for the sake of others.
  421. 23:25And look, man, I ask guys, I say this,
  422. 23:27hey, just out of curiosity,
  423. 23:28if some dude was coming up toward your wife
  424. 23:32and he pulls his fist back and he's about to pop her
  425. 23:34in the face, would you jump in front of her
  426. 23:37and like absorb that blow and then defend her?
  427. 23:39Some guy had a gun aimed at your children
  428. 23:41was about to pull the trigger.
  429. 23:42Would you jump in front of her and absorb that bullet
  430. 23:43and try to defend your kids?
  431. 23:45Oh, of course, right?
  432. 23:45Which man would say no?
  433. 23:46Right.
  434. 23:47But yet men aren't willing to defend their families
  435. 23:50by fighting like men in this area.
  436. 23:52Yeah.
  437. 23:53And brother, it's high time, man.
  438. 23:54It's absolutely right.
  439. 23:55It's high time.
  440. 23:56It's absolutely high time.
  441. 23:57And so I don't want to give the book away,
  442. 23:59but I do want to get into some of the practicality
  443. 24:02of the strategies that need to be employed,
  444. 24:04because what you're saying is so true,
  445. 24:05I can't tell you the number of times I've had pastors
  446. 24:07come to me kind of like Nicodemus, you know, at night saying,
  447. 24:10listen, Abraham, who are you talking about at this?
  448. 24:12And I'm talking about pastors.
  449. 24:14No, I'm still struggling.
  450. 24:15But I don't know what to do.
  451. 24:17I don't have anybody to talk about it.
  452. 24:17I've been struggling with this amount of years.
  453. 24:20But there is freedom in Christ.
  454. 24:22And I really, just like you said,
  455. 24:23with the accountability group, I think that sometimes people use man's fallenness and even
  456. 24:28like if you want to talk about the depravity of humanity to make themselves comfortable.
  457. 24:32Exactly.
  458. 24:33With sin filled lifestyles.
  459. 24:34Right.
  460. 24:35Yeah.
  461. 24:36Where their lives are characterized by sins like this.
  462. 24:37Yeah.
  463. 24:38Well, you know, they'll go to, well, hey, I'm not going out, you know, picking up on prostitutes.
  464. 24:41Yeah.
  465. 24:42There's always a comparison.
  466. 24:43Yeah.
  467. 24:44And that's tragic.
  468. 24:45Jesus said, if you look at a woman to lust for her, you've committed it already and you're
  469. 24:48harnessed.
  470. 24:49Yes.
  471. 24:50And a lot of men have this mindset of, I can't help it.
  472. 24:53I give this challenge. I say okay let's say Elon Musk walked up to you said hey I'm
  473. 24:58taking a hundred million bucks I'm putting it in an escrow account guaranteed you go
  474. 25:02six months without looking at pornography that hundred million is yours.
  475. 25:06I mean you're smiling bro because you and I both know it'd be a lot of people that
  476. 25:10would be point free for six months. Every single man would be able to do it. We're
  477. 25:14willing to do it for the love of money. We're not willing to do it for the love
  478. 25:18of the Savior who hung publicly upon a cross and paid the highest price ever paid
  479. 25:23for anything ever purchased to redeem our souls.
  480. 25:26And man, we need to wake up.
  481. 25:28We need to wake up and recognize that there is hope.
  482. 25:31And then on the flip side, you have the pastors.
  483. 25:33You mentioned the pastors.
  484. 25:35That's what happens, right?
  485. 25:36A big public figure, a big pastor falls,
  486. 25:38and suddenly everyone's talking about it,
  487. 25:39thinking about it, oh I better do something about it.
  488. 25:41And I don't mean that in a condemning way.
  489. 25:43I mean it from a place of compassion.
  490. 25:44But this is the reality.
  491. 25:45Absolutely.
  492. 25:46And then it goes back under the radar, right?
  493. 25:49And so there are pastors though that say,
  494. 25:52Oh no, that wouldn't happen to me.
  495. 25:54And I love what Vodie Bockam said.
  496. 25:57He said, look, the wisest man, the strongest man,
  497. 26:02and the godliest man in the Bible,
  498. 26:03fellness, sexual sin.
  499. 26:04If you say you can't, then you're saying
  500. 26:06that you're stronger than Samson,
  501. 26:08you're wiser than Solomon,
  502. 26:09and you're godlier than King David.
  503. 26:11And that's just plain stupid.
  504. 26:13And so, sadly, on the flip side,
  505. 26:14a lot of men don't have,
  506. 26:16they don't have safeguards in their lives.
  507. 26:18They don't have accountability.
  508. 26:19I have like three different brothers
  509. 26:20that I'm regularly accountable with.
  510. 26:22that they ask me the hard questions.
  511. 26:23We open our lives up to each other.
  512. 26:25When we're traveling, we'll text each other,
  513. 26:27hey man, keep me accountable, I'm going,
  514. 26:28hit me up when I get back.
  515. 26:29You know, you have to have that.
  516. 26:31And so what I do in the book is I give a battle plan.
  517. 26:35And it's four parts.
  518. 26:37In the first three, I'm talking about
  519. 26:38your three main enemies, right?
  520. 26:39We have to know our enemies.
  521. 26:40We have to know their strategy against us.
  522. 26:43And then we have to have a biblical counter-attack.
  523. 26:46And so I deal with the world, the flesh and the devil.
  524. 26:48Part one, two and three.
  525. 26:50And then in part four is where I get really practical.
  526. 26:53I'm practical throughout, but that's where I get hyper practical.
  527. 26:56And that part is called the six seas to succeed.
  528. 26:59And I give men six points that have an alliterated sentence
  529. 27:05with each one that they memorize.
  530. 27:07And then I fill it in with content to help them,
  531. 27:10because the problem is, Abe, is oftentimes,
  532. 27:13men don't have anything to give their heart and mind
  533. 27:15to do in the heat of battle.
  534. 27:18And they also don't train their heart and mind
  535. 27:21before they're in the heat of battle
  536. 27:23with what I call preventative preparedness.
  537. 27:26Preventative preparedness.
  538. 27:27Look, I mean the US has this doctrine called
  539. 27:29peace through strength.
  540. 27:31You know, we're so bolstered militarily
  541. 27:33that nations don't wanna mess with us.
  542. 27:36And Satan will always try to assail us,
  543. 27:37but we can rebuff him by having that
  544. 27:40preventative preparedness by being
  545. 27:42robust in our pursuit of the Lord.
  546. 27:45Because that's what it comes down to ultimately.
  547. 27:47And so I get practical on those and I'd love to hit any of those that you'd like me to touch on.
  548. 27:52But yeah, man, it's...
  549. 27:54I definitely would love to do so, but the illustration you gave about the $100 million,
  550. 27:59it underscores value.
  551. 28:01We place worth on that $100 million.
  552. 28:06Why don't we have the same value for humans?
  553. 28:08Oh, bro, I'm so glad you brought that up.
  554. 28:12Paul Tripp in one of his books talks about what he calls,
  555. 28:16how value impacts behavior.
  556. 28:18Value impacts behavior.
  557. 28:20And he gives us illustration using currency.
  558. 28:22I mean, look, there are days I'm walking around town,
  559. 28:24I reach in to my pocket, I pull something out,
  560. 28:27and then I hear clinkling, I look down,
  561. 28:28I see a penny on the ground.
  562. 28:29Or I'm just walking around, I see a penny on the ground.
  563. 28:31A lot of times, I don't give it the time of day
  564. 28:32to stoop down to pick it up.
  565. 28:34But you and I both know that no one ever
  566. 28:36does that with a $100 bill.
  567. 28:38No.
  568. 28:39OK?
  569. 28:39But imagine the United States government
  570. 28:41suddenly switched those values.
  571. 28:44And suddenly that penny became worth $100,
  572. 28:46that $100 bill became worth a penny.
  573. 28:48There would be no pennies in the world.
  574. 28:49And you could be sure that our behavior would change
  575. 28:52in keeping with those switched values,
  576. 28:54value impacts behavior.
  577. 28:56And we'd start weeping buckets of tears
  578. 28:59over all the pennies we didn't pick up
  579. 29:00because we'd be millionaires by now.
  580. 29:02And then we'd start using the $100 bill
  581. 29:03as this crap piece of paper or a nap
  582. 29:05can wipe our hands with because it's just worth a penny.
  583. 29:07What's a big deal?
  584. 29:08Value impacts behavior.
  585. 29:09The problem is, is we're not orienting our value system
  586. 29:13with gods.
  587. 29:14Paul's setting Colossians,
  588. 29:15don't set your mind on the things below,
  589. 29:17but on the things above where Christ is,
  590. 29:19set your mind on the things above where Christ is sitting
  591. 29:20at the right hand of God.
  592. 29:22We need to be eternally minded.
  593. 29:23We need to switch our value system
  594. 29:25so that it aligns with the Lord's,
  595. 29:27and then that will affect our impact.
  596. 29:29We need to recognize now, we are a breath away from eternity.
  597. 29:33A breath away.
  598. 29:35Often we think of eternity far and away.
  599. 29:37It's like this invisible doorway that follows us everywhere.
  600. 29:40And in a split second, we just cross over into it.
  601. 29:43And then it's all sealed up.
  602. 29:44And do you know what you forfeit
  603. 29:46when you're living in sexual sin, man?
  604. 29:48I mean, that the things that you give up,
  605. 29:50you think about, in my book,
  606. 29:52and one of the points is crisis.
  607. 29:54And that illiterate attendance is considered
  608. 29:56the catastrophic consequences of compromise.
  609. 29:59And one of the things I do is I have a list of notable men
  610. 30:04who are in ministry, leadership, who fell.
  611. 30:08And I meditate on that list every day.
  612. 30:10I think through all those men that destroyed their lives.
  613. 30:12And then I think about the crisis of what you forfeit.
  614. 30:15The crisis of conscience.
  615. 30:17You know, nothing hinders a man progressing in life
  616. 30:20more than a conscience that is wounded.
  617. 30:24You think of the crisis of moral authority.
  618. 30:28How do you speak into the lives of your children,
  619. 30:31of your friend, of your younger brother
  620. 30:33who's living in sexual sin when you're doing it yourself.
  621. 30:36No, it seals your lips.
  622. 30:37And then they miss out on being impacted
  623. 30:39by someone speaking into their life.
  624. 30:42You know, you have the crisis of leadership capacity.
  625. 30:46Who wants to lead or be involved in any kind of leadership
  626. 30:49when they're living in that?
  627. 30:50And who wants to follow anyone who's living in that?
  628. 30:52So you're hindered there.
  629. 30:54You have the crisis of joy.
  630. 30:56Man, the joy the Lord is our strength.
  631. 30:58When you're living in sin, it quenches the joy
  632. 31:00because you're grieving the Spirit
  633. 31:01who gives us his joy when you're living in that sin,
  634. 31:04and then the crisis of witness.
  635. 31:07How are you gonna be freely preaching the gospel
  636. 31:09when you're living in sin like that?
  637. 31:11How much do you value all of those things?
  638. 31:14You really wanna forfeit all of that
  639. 31:16for a split second pleasure that's gone
  640. 31:22and you know that emptiness you're left with
  641. 31:24after you indulge in that,
  642. 31:25whether it's fornication or adultery
  643. 31:27or other things I won't mention.
  644. 31:29Man, it's destructive.
  645. 31:32So we need to wake up and reorient that value system
  646. 31:34with the Lord.
  647. 31:36Easy, thank you so much.
  648. 31:38And I hope you can stay, because I want to continue
  649. 31:40going into the air, brother.
  650. 31:42You referred to Colossians 2 when you mentioned,
  651. 31:45if we're in Christ, set our minds on things that are above.
  652. 31:48Paul goes into the next portion of that chapter,
  653. 31:51and he's talking to believers in Colossae
  654. 31:53by saying, I'm appealing to you in this manner
  655. 31:55so that you wouldn't be beguiled.
  656. 31:56That's right.
  657. 31:57You wouldn't be deluded.
  658. 31:58Verse 80 goes on to say, he said,
  659. 31:59you would be taken captive.
  660. 32:00The reality is we often think about delusions of captivity
  661. 32:03applying to the unbeliever,
  662. 32:04but Paul is talking about believers
  663. 32:06being taken captive.
  664. 32:08This is one of the ways that many men
  665. 32:10who are professing believers have been taken captive
  666. 32:13and witnessed compromise and will authority compromise
  667. 32:15because in secret they are latent
  668. 32:18with a sin-filled lifestyle
  669. 32:20and pornography is the mechanism for that.
  670. 32:22We'll get into this some more.
  671. 32:23Now the side of the break, easy,
  672. 32:24is here with us, president of Living Waters.
  673. 32:30John the Baptist and Jesus gave the same command.
  674. 32:33Repent for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.
  675. 32:37Repentance is a reorientation toward God,
  676. 32:39resulting in a change in actions.
  677. 32:42Since our sins were fully accounted for in Jesus' death,
  678. 32:46repentance is not about earning forgiveness,
  679. 32:49but about receiving the forgiveness
  680. 32:51already secured through Jesus Christ.
  681. 32:53I'm Jordan Shambly,
  682. 32:55and you can read the rest of A Life of Repentance

  684. 33:04The Hamilton Quarter Podcast and One-Bitted Common Terrets are available at EFR.net.
  685. 33:10Back to the Hamilton Quarter on American Family Radio.
  686. 33:15Welcome back to the Hamilton Corner, Abraham Hamilton the third here.
  687. 33:17My guest is E.Z.
  688. 33:19Emile Zwain, president of Living Waters.
  689. 33:22We are discussing the rogue and the plague that has really swept our nation and the world,
  690. 33:29frankly, including the body of Christ.
  691. 33:30And that is pornography.
  692. 33:32more broadly, we're talking about the need for men to pursue personal purity.
  693. 33:38And I love the way that that is the subtitle of his book, Easy tackles this in his new book,
  694. 33:43Fight Like a Man.
  695. 33:45Fight Like a Man, a bold biblical battle plan for personal purity.
  696. 33:51I cannot think of a more necessary book now than this.
  697. 33:56So again, thank you for taking the time to share this with our listeners.
  698. 34:00And during our break, I was just sharing with you just an anecdotal account, you know, because
  699. 34:05we have all kinds of people, all kinds of men struggling in these areas of demographic, increasing
  700. 34:10quantities of women struggling in these areas.
  701. 34:14But there's a circumstance that I came across where there was a young man.
  702. 34:18And he very innocent, like seven or eight years old, wasn't trying to find anything to listen.
  703. 34:23It was looking for sports equipment, but had unfettered access to the internet, looking
  704. 34:27of a Dick's Sporting Goods and ended up not finding Dick's Sporting Goods and that led
  705. 34:31to frankly a lifelong struggle thereafter with pornography.
  706. 34:36What do you say to somebody like that?
  707. 34:38Yeah, well man, I say first of all you want to head that off by being intentional with discipling
  708. 34:45your children.
  709. 34:46You know, a sex was God's idea, right?
  710. 34:49It still is by the way.
  711. 34:51He created it and he gifted us with it.
  712. 34:53I mean you think about it, right?
  713. 34:54He uses that process to bring into the world image bearers,
  714. 34:59bearing his very holy image.
  715. 35:01I mean, it's beautiful, but sadly,
  716. 35:04obviously Satan has twisted it,
  717. 35:06our flesh has tainted it, the world has perverted it.
  718. 35:10So you gotta start with your kids when they're young.
  719. 35:12You know, with our kids when we had the sex talk with them,
  720. 35:15I told my wife, I said, look,
  721. 35:16I want to make sure that we do this right
  722. 35:19because I've heard this analogy that I love.
  723. 35:22It's like your children's minds are like,
  724. 35:24warehouse is full of empty shelves.
  725. 35:27Whoever gets to those shelves first and stocks to them
  726. 35:30will make it harder for someone else to come unstalk them
  727. 35:33and restock them.
  728. 35:34So we wanna beat the world to it on every level.
  729. 35:38And so I told her we wanna handle this right with our kids.
  730. 35:40So what I did was I said, hey kids, tonight,
  731. 35:42mom and I wanna talk to you about something
  732. 35:44absolutely amazing.
  733. 35:47Something beautiful and wonderful that God made.
  734. 35:50Because usually when parents have their talks like,
  735. 35:51yeah, I'm like, hey kids, I'm their fidgeting,
  736. 35:53they're shipping their eyes.
  737. 35:54No, and the children don't have any frame of reference
  738. 35:57for it being anything other than what you present
  739. 35:59as the first show star.
  740. 36:00Exactly, we wanted an imprint on their minds
  741. 36:03that was in keeping with what it really is,
  742. 36:04beautiful and wonderful.
  743. 36:05So when we sat down with them,
  744. 36:06we had a couple books that we took them through
  745. 36:08that progressed and we just presented it to them that way.
  746. 36:13And it was, oh, I mean, it's so wonderful.
  747. 36:16My son just got married a month ago.
  748. 36:19And congratulations.
  749. 36:20Thank you so much.
  750. 36:21And he and his fiancee decided of their own will
  751. 36:25to not kiss until they got married,
  752. 36:26until they stood at the altar.
  753. 36:28And my son, by God's grace, has never looked
  754. 36:30at pornography, he's never kissed a woman,
  755. 36:32he's never been immoral.
  756. 36:33And he said to me when we were having a talk
  757. 36:36just before he got married, he said,
  758. 36:37Dad, I'm so glad I'm going into my marriage with purity.
  759. 36:41Come on.
  760. 36:41Brother, it touched me so deeply and blessed me.
  761. 36:45But I know that my other kids could fall at any moment.
  762. 36:48I'm not saying that to brag.
  763. 36:50I'm saying that to encourage parents to say,
  764. 36:51look, it's possible.
  765. 36:53It's possible, but you have to start early
  766. 36:55and be intentional with your children.
  767. 36:57When my kids were young, I crafted a family vision statement
  768. 36:59for them, and it goes like this,
  769. 37:00to gladly and passionately glorify God
  770. 37:03in every thought, affection, word, and deed,
  771. 37:05while constantly enjoying Him as our greatest pleasure
  772. 37:07and most precious treasure.
  773. 37:09Amen.
  774. 37:09So from early on, look, you were made by God and for God,
  775. 37:12and your calling in life is to live for His glory
  776. 37:15in all that you do.
  777. 37:16We have that as a plaque in our home, my kids,
  778. 37:19my wife, all of us have memorized that.
  779. 37:20And so you got to start young, headed off,
  780. 37:23have regular conversations with your kids about it.
  781. 37:26Install software on your devices so that that can't happen
  782. 37:30as much as possible.
  783. 37:31And tell them, hey, if something pops up,
  784. 37:33here's what you do, so that they're prepared
  785. 37:35ahead of time for the past.
  786. 37:36Yeah, so well said.
  787. 37:37It's so well said.
  788. 37:38And that's a part of the responsibility that we have
  789. 37:40as parents, that we fathers are ultimately accountable
  790. 37:42to God for, and discipling our children, rearing them
  791. 37:45in the by day and enthusiasm of the Lord.
  792. 37:46And they're just an admonition of the Lord.
  793. 37:48Amen.
  794. 37:48And you also unfortunately have the converse where, like the anecdote I told you, when people
  795. 37:55who haven't had that, and they are now laboring within an environment where they're ebbing
  796. 38:02and flowing between shame and inability to respond appropriately, how do we help people
  797. 38:09in that kind of scenario?
  798. 38:10Yeah, so again, like I said, you have to have a battle plan.
  799. 38:14The first thing aid that is so key and important and indispensable is something called repentance.
  800. 38:21It's that beautiful word that has become this archaic, outdated, sort of defunct word when it is the most beautiful word in all of existence
  801. 38:32because it implies hope. It implies that the possibility for change and that God has paid for our sins so that we can repent and turn from it.
  802. 38:42And so there needs to be that serious reckoning and repenting of sin.
  803. 38:46Like I said, the Elon Musk thing, right?
  804. 38:48Don't have this deception that, oh, you just can't help it.
  805. 38:51You can.
  806. 38:53And so you must change your value system.
  807. 38:55You must turn to the Lord.
  808. 38:56And so you have to have that battle plan, like I said, and understand Satan's strategies.
  809. 39:00And so with Satan, for example, he's a one trick pony.
  810. 39:03There's nothing new.
  811. 39:04It's the same thing he didn't eat in.
  812. 39:06And first it was discontent.
  813. 39:08As God said, you can't eat of every tree.
  814. 39:09God said you could eat of every tree except one.
  815. 39:12He gave them dominion over the whole planet.
  816. 39:14Think of how microscopic the tree of the knowledge of good
  817. 39:16and evil would have been from space
  818. 39:17compared to the whole planet he gave them,
  819. 39:19but he turned their heart toward discontent.
  820. 39:21Then it was disbelief, oh, you will not surely die.
  821. 39:24So he deceives us into thinking the consequences for sin
  822. 39:27that God has laid out are not what they really are.
  823. 39:29So sexual immorality, oh, no big deal.
  824. 39:31And Corinthian sells us, he who commits sexual immorality,
  825. 39:33sins against his own body.
  826. 39:34Every other sin is outside.
  827. 39:36It's sat apart as a distinct sin.
  828. 39:38When you look at Romans one, I mean,
  829. 39:39we see sexual immorality as being like a depraved type of sin
  830. 39:45that's in keeping with radical departure from God.
  831. 39:49So you have to recognize that and you have to battle that.
  832. 39:51And then finally, deification.
  833. 39:53You will become like God, knowing good from evil.
  834. 39:57In other words, you will become the final arbiter
  835. 39:59on what is right or wrong.
  836. 40:00You will make that call in your life.
  837. 40:02You will like Satan, right?
  838. 40:03His first sin, it was his first sin.
  839. 40:05You'll ascend to the throne of the Mosai.
  840. 40:06You will become God over your own life.
  841. 40:09And so I talk about the counter-attact,
  842. 40:11how do we deal with that?
  843. 40:12Then I get into the world, right?
  844. 40:13The world has its ways and its wisdom.
  845. 40:16It's got its mantras.
  846. 40:17God wants you to be happy.
  847. 40:19Sin is sin, no big deal.
  848. 40:21Yeah, sin is sin, but the consequences
  849. 40:24and ravages of sin are not the same.
  850. 40:26You ask me to help you move house,
  851. 40:28and I say, oh, sorry, I'm busy and I lied to you.
  852. 40:29That's a sin, it's serious, it's wrong.
  853. 40:31But if I go and murder your whole family,
  854. 40:33that's a different thing.
  855. 40:34Yeah, and the main thing,
  856. 40:35it has different temporal impact.
  857. 40:37Exactly.
  858. 40:38Absolutely.
  859. 40:39So, you know, so there's that, there's, you know,
  860. 40:42you only live once, you know, all these mantras that are so
  861. 40:45deceptive, and then you have the flesh.
  862. 40:47And really, like Dr. John Street says in his book,
  863. 40:50So Powerful, he says, look, the real enemy is the flesh,
  864. 40:54right, it's the inward adversary that comes against us,
  865. 40:58but you have the world and the devil that it allies with.
  866. 41:03And so, you just have to realize that, you know,
  867. 41:06it's your fault, so you have to counter that, right?
  868. 41:08Paul says, I say then walk in the spirit,
  869. 41:10you will not fulfill the less of the flesh.
  870. 41:12How do we walk in the spirit?
  871. 41:13By engaging ourselves in the things
  872. 41:14the spirit of God is involved in.
  873. 41:16What is he mainly involved in?
  874. 41:17Well, the word, it's called the sort of the spirit.
  875. 41:19Prayer, we don't know how to praise,
  876. 41:21we out the spirit intercedes for us.
  877. 41:22Amen.
  878. 41:23Evangelism, right?
  879. 41:25When the spirit comes upon you, you'll believe my witnesses
  880. 41:27and then fellowship, scripture talks about
  881. 41:28the fellowship of the spirit.
  882. 41:30And often, Abe, it's so tragic because you talk to men,
  883. 41:32for example, about like prayer and the word.
  884. 41:34They're like, yeah, man, I know, but there's gotta be something
  885. 41:37It's like it's it's insulted us. It's too simplistic. Yeah, so you rephrase that prayer
  886. 41:42Yeah, I guess you know all I can do is talk to the omniscient omnipotent omnipresent infinite God of the universe who holds every Adam in
  887. 41:49His control and who loves me infinitely that he died on the cross and rose for me and says to ask and I shall receive
  888. 41:54I guess all I can do is pray are we crazy?
  889. 41:56Yeah, we're minimizing communion with the God of the universe
  890. 41:59Yes, if you get access to the president of the United States and he says anything you want
  891. 42:04You just let me know if you're not hitting them up, then you really don't believe that's true. Yes, and then the word
  892. 42:09Oh, yeah, I guess all I can do is read
  893. 42:11You know that thing that's sharper than any two-edged sword the discerns of thoughts and intents in my heart that you know
  894. 42:16It is profitable for all things that I may be thoroughly equipped. You know, it's a man every good work
  895. 42:21Every good work. I mean are we crazy? Yeah, so no, we are crazy because we've been deceit. No, I really mean that
  896. 42:27I've declared I've just described prayerlessness in the life of a believer as a tacit declaration of independence from God
  897. 42:33We're living declarations of independence from God,
  898. 42:37living as if we don't need him.
  899. 42:39Professing Christianity, practical atheist,
  900. 42:42or at best agnostics.
  901. 42:43Not so true.
  902. 42:44And defaulting, neglecting the nuclear atom bomb
  903. 42:47that's made available for us to walk upright,
  904. 42:49we neglect that.
  905. 42:50And I find that people say things like that.
  906. 42:52I've heard people say,
  907. 42:53babe, can you give me some advice
  908. 42:54to something to do other than pray?
  909. 42:55That usually comes from people who don't pray.
  910. 42:57That's right.
  911. 42:58Exactly.
  912. 42:59And look, I mean, prayer, I've often said this.
  913. 43:01prayer is the barometer to where we're at spiritually.
  914. 43:05Because if you're sitting in a room by yourself
  915. 43:09speaking into the air to a God whose face you cannot see,
  916. 43:13whose voice you cannot hear, whose presence you cannot
  917. 43:15physically feel, and you're doing that,
  918. 43:17that's a demonstration of true faith.
  919. 43:19And I love what James says, show me your faith
  920. 43:21without your works, I'll show you my faith by my works.
  921. 43:23And the reason why I love that is because it's concrete.
  922. 43:27It's not this ambiguous and sort of amorphous thing.
  923. 43:32Look, you can show that you believe.
  924. 43:34I may not feel prayer is important.
  925. 43:36I may not feel the word is important on any given day.
  926. 43:38But if I'm entering God's presence and I'm crying out to Him,
  927. 43:41if I'm getting in the word,
  928. 43:42even though I'm feeling and thinking these everything,
  929. 43:44I'm showing my faith by my words.
  930. 43:47And so there's this element of like,
  931. 43:49man, are we pursuing the Lord with all our heart,
  932. 43:54mind, soul and strength?
  933. 43:55Are we truly seeking after Him?
  934. 43:57because if we are, we're going to see change
  935. 43:59and transformation in our lives.
  936. 44:00Evidence of that reality.
  937. 44:02And you began by describing some of the practical things
  938. 44:05you implement for accountability,
  939. 44:07which is so wise and so profound,
  940. 44:11because sometimes people are looking for deep things
  941. 44:13from God, when the truth is the simplicity,
  942. 44:15the simple things from God are deep when applied.
  943. 44:18That depth is evident when applied,
  944. 44:20and you talked about that accountability,
  945. 44:22the way that James articulates it,
  946. 44:24we receive forgiveness from God vertically,
  947. 44:27but often walking in liberty or freedom
  948. 44:28where deliverance requires a horizontal
  949. 44:30reality of relationship, confess your sins,
  950. 44:33one to another.
  951. 44:34And one of the main deficiencies that I see,
  952. 44:37and I want to hear what you have to say about this,
  953. 44:40is Satan has been effective in reducing
  954. 44:42what's supposed to be a thriving, vibrant reality
  955. 44:45of Christ following through a body of believers.
  956. 44:47He's reduced us who are supposed to be worshiping together
  957. 44:51to merely worshiping beside one another.
  958. 44:52Absolutely.
  959. 44:53We have people we sit next to for decades
  960. 44:55in buildings or year, five years, we don't even know them.
  961. 44:58Let alone, knowing the struggle is sufficiently
  962. 45:01be able to bear one another's burden.
  963. 45:03The concept of sharing burdens has become almost anathema
  964. 45:07to Christ's followers, because we don't want to be real
  965. 45:09about what's going on.
  966. 45:10Well, you know, Proverbs 18-1, he who separates himself
  967. 45:14seeks his own desires, right?
  968. 45:16He corals against all sound wisdom.
  969. 45:18When you're pulling away from community,
  970. 45:20from authenticity, transparency with other men,
  971. 45:23It's because you want to sin without anyone calling you on it.
  972. 45:27But if you, like first John says,
  973. 45:29if we walk in the light, as he himself is in the light,
  974. 45:31we have fellowship with one another
  975. 45:34and the blood of his son, Jesus cleanses us from all sin.
  976. 45:37I love that, walking in the light with other brothers.
  977. 45:39It's so powerful.
  978. 45:40And if I could share one more thing, if we have time.
  979. 45:44Please do.
  980. 45:48I have this thing at the end of the book.
  981. 45:49I call it the nope principle.
  982. 45:52One time I was counseling this young man,
  983. 45:54and I said, man, how you doing with pornography?
  984. 45:57So I'm doing pretty good.
  985. 45:58I said, how you doing with lust?
  986. 45:59Because again, we make that excuse, right?
  987. 46:00Oh, I'm not looking important,
  988. 46:01but we're lusting, as we're walking around,
  989. 46:04with thoughts on our mind.
  990. 46:05So I'm not doing too well.
  991. 46:06He hung his head in the shame.
  992. 46:06I said, man, you know what?
  993. 46:07We gotta get serious with this.
  994. 46:08I felt this like righteous passion for purity rise up in me.
  995. 46:11I said, we just gotta, as men,
  996. 46:12just say, I'm done with this, it's enough.
  997. 46:14And we gotta just say, nope, right?
  998. 46:16And even say it out loud.
  999. 46:17I said, don't I say it out loud,
1000. 46:18because that commits us, you know?
1001. 46:19Anyway, I felt it resonated with him, resonated with me.
1002. 46:22The next day I'm on my way to the office.
1003. 46:23I'd leave home and these girls wearing barely anything
1004. 46:25are jogged by my car.
1005. 46:27And I instinctively caught myself going, nope, out loud.
1006. 46:29Then I thought, man, I wish there was some kind of,
1007. 46:32you know, a cross like that would tie in with that.
1008. 46:33And suddenly it popped into my mind.
  1009. 46:35Nope, N-O-P-E, not one peak even.
  1010. 46:38Amen.
  1011. 46:39Not one peak even.
1012. 46:40And then I thought, why not one peak even?
1013. 46:42It's because it's fueled by my five loves.
1014. 46:44And you know, Jesus said, whoever puts his hand
1015. 46:46at the plow looks back and doesn't wear the other kingdom.
1016. 46:47So I imagine my hand going out to the plow,
1017. 46:49Each finger representing one of my loves.
1018. 46:51Why not one peek even?
  1019. 46:52Because I love my Lord.
1020. 46:53The one who paid that price to redeem my soul.
1021. 46:55I don't want it to sound like I love my lady.
  1022. 46:57The one that I vowed before,
1023. 46:58heaven and earth to be faithful to.
1024. 46:59I love my lineage, my children, grandchildren,
  1025. 47:02even past generations.
  1026. 47:03I love the lost.
1027. 47:05Those that I'm supposed to be a witness to
  1028. 47:06and I love his lambs, God's people.
1029. 47:08So because I love all those, nope, not one peek even.
1030. 47:11Not with my physical eye, not with my mind's eye.
1031. 47:14So that's in the book along with those six seas
  1032. 47:16and everything else.
1033. 47:17You know what's blowing me away Abe is the response.
1034. 47:19You know I mean it was the number one bestseller,
1035. 47:21number one new release on Amazon
1036. 47:23and one of the top, and it's category,
1037. 47:24and one of the top sellers out of all categories.
1038. 47:27And you know it was endorsed by Dr. John MacArthur,
1039. 47:29Ken Hammer wrote the forward Kirk Cameron,
1040. 47:31Ray Comfort endorsed it, and Justin Peters, many others,
1041. 47:34and it's just been humbling what the Lord has done,
1042. 47:37and I want to see men help, so they can get it at Amazon,
1043. 47:40and I pray it impacts them for Dr. Lord.

1049. 47:55of godly men of purity.
1050. 47:57Purity will empower us to have the potency we need
1051. 48:00to bear witness to be disciple makers
1052. 48:03because God has made us his disciples.
1053. 48:06And for those who are listening right now,
  1054. 48:07you're struggling these areas.

1058. 48:15the uttermost from all types of sin,
1059. 48:17you can be free from pornography.
  1060. 48:19Amen.
1061. 48:20In fact, you must be free from pornography.
1062. 48:23God, Jesus Christ came, lived and died,
1063. 48:25not merely to conform to our conduct,
1064. 48:27like Pavlovian dogs, he came to transform us
1065. 48:29at a heart level, and that is available
1066. 48:31by the power of the shed blood of Jesus Christ.
