  5. 0:15Delivery people out of the bondage of mainstream media.
  6. 0:18And the philosophies of this world.
  7. 0:20God has called you and me to be his ambassador.

  9. 0:26Let's not miss our moment.
  10. 0:28And now, the Hamilton Corner.
  11. 0:33Well, good evening, everybody.
  12. 0:35Alex McFarland here sitting in for Attorney Pastor,
  13. 0:38broadcaster Abe Hamilton III, and what a show.
  14. 0:41In just a moment, we'll bring up Dr. Al Vida King,
  15. 0:45just a great colleague and friend.
  16. 0:47But I want to welcome you to the American Family Radio Network
  17. 0:50and have a really good show, a lot of issues
  18. 0:52to talk about in the news.
  19. 0:55And we're always privileged whenever we can converse
  20. 0:58and spend a few moments with Dr. Alveda King.
  21. 1:01And, you know, as we go through this journey,
  22. 1:06you meet a lot of people and as might be expected,
  23. 1:08some make more of an impression than others.
  24. 1:11But for years, I've just appreciated the stand
  25. 1:15and the ministry and the influence of Dr. Alveda King.
  26. 1:18There's always so much I want to ask her,
  27. 1:20but first of all, Dr. King, thank you for making time
  28. 1:24to be with us tonight on the American Family Radio Network.
  29. 1:28Alex, thank you American family radio.
  30. 1:31It's so essential in these days and time.
  31. 1:34And I thank you for letting me use my voice.
  32. 1:38You know, the Prince of the Power of the Air
  33. 1:40is only a title that the devil has.
  34. 1:43We of course are through the blood of Jesus.
  35. 1:49We occupy the airwaves.
  36. 1:51So I'm so glad to join you. Thank you.
  37. 1:53Amen. Well, thank you.
  38. 1:55And you are right about that.
  39. 1:57we are cleansed by the blood of Jesus and dwelt and sealed by His Holy Spirit.
  40. 2:02And we've got a commission to proclaim righteousness to this world, don't we?
  41. 2:08Yes, we do.
  42. 2:09And as we do that, we can be encouraged knowing.
  43. 2:12First we pray, of course, obey God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
  44. 2:16And we overcome evil with good.
  45. 2:18We deliver good news on the airwaves.
  46. 2:22And as we do that, we know that in this day and time,
  47. 2:25God is able to use us to enforce and to occupy his kingdom.
  48. 2:32Amen, amen.
  49. 2:33Hey, we'll share this a time or two,
  50. 2:35but her website is alvedaking.com,
  51. 2:39A-L-V-E-D-A-K-I-N-G,
  52. 2:42alvedaking.com.
  53. 2:46Before I barrage questions at you,
  54. 2:49and there are always so many things I wanna ask you,
  55. 2:52let me ask you this,
  56. 2:54What has been going on in your ministry these days?
  57. 2:57Are you writing?
  58. 2:59Are you touring and speaking?
  59. 3:01Bring us up today, Don, all that God is doing
  60. 3:03through you, sister.
  61. 3:05Interestingly enough, in the late 1990s,
  62. 3:08the founding pastor of Believer's Bible Christian Church,
  63. 3:11Pastor Alan Magnair and his wife, Anna, of course,
  64. 3:14now his son, Theo, and Lady Octavia are there.
  65. 3:19And he told me, he says, you need a ministry.
  66. 3:21You need an organization.
  67. 3:23So I founded King for America,
  68. 3:26which became Alveda King Ministries,
  69. 3:29and there are many branches and parts of that.
  70. 3:33And so I've been pro-life since 1983
  71. 3:36after becoming a born-again Christian.
  72. 3:38All of that kind of just comes together.
  73. 3:41I do write books, music.
  74. 3:44We do film and all of that in the entertainment
  75. 3:46or the creative industries.
  76. 3:49And so I use everything that I have and am
  77. 3:52to glorify God in the earth.
  78. 3:54Most recently, it's 75 years of age.
  79. 3:57My 75th birthday is January 22nd, 2026,
  80. 4:02but I count the time in my mother's womb, 75 years old.
  81. 4:06And I accepted two assignments for President Trump.
  82. 4:10One, I'm senior advisor to the USDA Faith Center
  83. 4:14under Secretary of Burgarralis,
  84. 4:16and then the Religious Liberty Council.
  85. 4:19So those were unexpected,
  86. 4:21but there was a call and I said yes.
  87. 4:24Amen. Well, thank you for serving our country in that regard.
  88. 4:29And you know, we've got an event coming up that I might tease out later on September 14.
  89. 4:35We're going to have Lauren Green of Fox News and Mark Walker speak on religious liberty.
  90. 4:44And let's talk for just a second the President.
  91. 4:48How significant do you think it is that, well,
  92. 4:53I believe it was a miracle, July 13th of last summer,
  93. 4:56he survived that gunshot wound,
  94. 4:58I think a miracle of God because two or three millimeters
  95. 5:03different and history would have been different.
  96. 5:06You're different story, yeah.
  97. 5:08Donald Trump has been a champion for religious freedom
  98. 5:12and I think he gets the spiritual DNA of this country.
  99. 5:17would you agree? I would agree that President Trump does understand he'll often say he said
  100. 5:23Christians what are you doing? This is what you're supposed to be doing you know he is a Christian
  101. 5:29himself and he does say and he says you know he says God saved me I'm so grateful he talks about
  102. 5:36Jesus he has prayer in the White House absolutely and in his own in his wife or people who love
  103. 5:43of the Lord and it is family.
  104. 5:45However, I think it's so remarkable
  105. 5:48that God did save his life.
  106. 5:51And he's able to proclaim that.
  107. 5:54And so that helps him to speak out for religious liberty.
  108. 5:58We don't want anti-Christian bias, absolutely not.
  109. 6:02But in America, everyone should be able to worship
  110. 6:05as they see fit that's in our US Constitution.
  111. 6:09And even if you don't want to worship,
  112. 6:11no one should make you worship.
  113. 6:13either. And so that should be that Liberty and that is one of President Trump's strongest
  114. 6:18commitments. And I'm glad to be able to help there as a senior advisor to the USDA Faith
  115. 6:25Office. That is wonderful. That is wonderful. And folks, we need to pray for Dr. Alveta
  116. 6:30King as she does this because, you know, one thing I know about you from watching and listening,
  117. 6:37wherever you go, you are sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ. And I, that's one of the
  118. 6:42reasons I think the Lord is blessing you and uses you as he does because I don't
  119. 6:48think I've ever ever heard you that you didn't bring up Jesus and salvation.
  120. 6:53Praise God. Praise God. Right. That's going to be... people need the Lord. We're one
  121. 6:58blood, one human race. We're not separate races and all of that. We need the Lord.
  122. 7:04No matter what our situation or condition in life happens to be, people
  123. 7:10honestly need the Lord and yes that is a song and I did record that you could go
  124. 7:15on YouTube, Alvita King, Sigs, you know people need the Lord I write songs to.
  125. 7:22That's wonderful. So let me ask you this, why do you think so many pastors don't use
  126. 7:32their influence and from the pulpit say you know thus sayeth the Lord about
  127. 7:38so many of these key issues of our times. Like the issue of life. Many pastors fear man
  128. 7:46more than they feel God or feel human opinion more than they fear God. And I have a message
  129. 7:53today, some of the decisions that people make in political seats or in the church pool pit
  130. 7:59or business decisions or at home, well, they might not like this. They may think this. They may do
  131. 8:05that. However, I believe in you. As you say, you know that I do
  132. 8:09this. I'm always giving good reports. Look what God did. God
  133. 8:13did this. God did that. Somebody did something nice today. Have
  134. 8:17you done something? Well, not even nice because nice is not as
  135. 8:20strong as kind. Kind is stronger. We are commanded to be kind,
  136. 8:24not just nice. But let's do something kind every day. So when
  137. 8:29we proclaim the gospel, the kindness, the goodness, the
  138. 8:32loving kindness of God, then we don't have to be afraid anymore.
  139. 8:37So most many pastors will say, well, if I say that they won't come to church, they won't
  140. 8:41do a tithe, they'll go somewhere else.
  141. 8:44Honestly, pastors actually do think that way and become afraid to tell the truth for losing
  142. 8:49members.
  143. 8:50That's a shame.
  144. 8:51Bible says, if you're a man brings a snare.
  145. 8:54Yeah, it does.
  146. 8:56It does.
  147. 8:57And I want you to feel free to speak your mind on this, but pastors used to say to me,
  148. 9:06they would say, Alex, I can't really talk about politics from the pulpit because we could lose
  149. 9:13our non-profit status and that's false.
  150. 9:17And by the way, since when do we diminish the Word of God just because of tax status or
  151. 9:25or whatever. But as of just this month, folks, there's a ruling, the Johnson Amendment, which
  152. 9:32Trump back in 2015, I heard Donald Trump say, that the 1954 Johnson Amendment had to be rescinded
  153. 9:41and clergy could speak their mind and tell the congregation what is what on political,
  154. 9:48moral and social issues, well, even if that were a shield that frightened clergy hid behind,
  155. 9:58that's been removed.
  156. 9:59Brother pastors, fellow ministers of every strata, I mean, it's free and clear to tell the world
  157. 10:07what God's position is on these issues and the world needs to hear it.
  158. 10:12Because if you gain the world and lose your soul, I don't believe that that's what we want
  159. 10:17do and we have to go ahead and proclaim the goodness, the gospel, that's why the gospel
  160. 10:23is called the good news because it really is good news.
  161. 10:26Yes, exactly, exactly.
  162. 10:30You know, every time you and I have the privilege of conversing, I love to hear about how you
  163. 10:37came up there alongside the ministry of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and the great Reverend
  164. 10:45Fred Shuttlesworth. Could you tell us a little bit about those days and the influence that
  165. 10:52those leaders made on your life?
  166. 10:55Well Martin Luther King Jr. Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Reverend Shuttlesworth. My father,
  167. 11:01Reverend Alfred Daniel Williams King. My mother, Dr. Naomi Ruth Barbara King, Daddy King.
  168. 11:07Reverend Daddy King Martin Luther King Sr. Alberta. I grew up in a family of God-fearing
  169. 11:13Gospel believing people, the men were pastors back then because when I was a little girl,
  170. 11:19in the Baptist Church, women weren't allowed to be ordained or become pastors and stand in the
  171. 11:24pulpit. That of course in the Bible it says there's no male or female bond or free only Christ
  172. 11:30got Lord and Lord of all. But I didn't know that, but I was raised in Bible school and Sunday
  173. 11:39school and church meetings and all of that the civil rights
  174. 11:43movement was founded in the gospel of Jesus Christ. And so we
  175. 11:48pray we read our Bible. So we were non violent. Of course,
  176. 11:53Martin Luther King Jr. learned that from Gandhi. But Martin Luther
  177. 11:57King Dr. Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr was a Christian
  178. 11:59as a young man. He had not had his own personal conversion with
  179. 12:04Jesus Christ. But he met Jesus Christ at his table over a
  180. 12:08a cup of coffee at midnight in Montgomery.
  181. 12:12And so you need to read the conversion testimony
  182. 12:15of Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
  183. 12:17It's called a knock at midnight.
  184. 12:20Wow, wow.
  185. 12:22How many of the Christian leaders
  186. 12:25that were a part of the civil rights movement
  187. 12:27and you were there watching it unfold as well?
  188. 12:31And was it?
  189. 12:32Not watching it participated.
  190. 12:33Got marched and led the movements
  191. 12:36and with the jail and the movement all that.
  192. 12:38I didn't only watch it, I was part of it.
  193. 12:40Exactly, exactly.
  194. 12:43Well, it was the Southern Christian Leadership Coalition.
  195. 12:48Wasn't that the name?
  196. 12:50Southern Christian Leadership Conference.
  197. 12:52And then over in Kentucky, my daddy found it,
  198. 12:55Revenate Eking, the Kentucky Christian Leadership Conference
  199. 12:59following in the steps of his brother.
  200. 13:01So the Southern Christian Leadership Conference
  201. 13:04was led by ministers.
  202. 13:06at that time men of God that were women of God also.
  203. 13:10And so that's what it was, S-C-L-C.
  204. 13:14And I remember reading of when people were gonna march
  205. 13:19alongside the number one commitment on the card
  206. 13:25is said I will meditate daily on the life
  207. 13:27and teachings of Jesus, didn't it?
  208. 13:29Jesus Christ, I will read my Bible, I will pray,
  209. 13:31I will be kind, I will repent, repentance was part
  210. 13:35of all of that, absolutely.
  211. 13:36Forgive others, yes.
  212. 13:39And so many people today,
  213. 13:41I don't think they realize how deeply overtly Christian
  214. 13:47the movement was.
  215. 13:49Very Christian movement.
  216. 13:51And any movement that succeeds or stands
  217. 13:55should be grounded, will have to be grounded
  218. 13:58in the gospel of Jesus Christ, the gospel.
  219. 14:01And so ours certainly was.
  220. 14:03And when that was gone, Martin Luther King was killed in 68,
  221. 14:07my dad killed in 69, my grandma killed Martin was shot,
  222. 14:11dad was choked and thrown in the pool, grandma was shot.
  223. 14:15After they left, people thought that politics
  224. 14:18would be the answer.
  225. 14:19It was almost the same as 9-11 here at the turn of the century.
  226. 14:23In America, you know, when the Twin Towers were bombed,
  227. 14:26nobody says, God help us, we repent.
  228. 14:29We must have been doing wrong, please,
  229. 14:31that live us and help it, it said that the leaders,
  230. 14:34we will rebuild, not with the help of God,
  231. 14:37there was not enough prayer.
  232. 14:39And we did learn over the next several years
  233. 14:42into these two decades.
  234. 14:43Forgive me, we've got a brief break.
  235. 14:45We're gonna come right back.
  236. 14:47Alex McCrallen here with our very special guest,
  237. 14:49Dr. Alvita King, don't go away, folks.
  238. 14:52We're back after this brief break.
  239. 15:01A discipleship minute with Joseph Parker.
  240. 15:04What are some biblical characteristics
  241. 15:06and some biblical standards that help us see
  242. 15:09and define what a godly man looks like.
  243. 15:11Here are a few.
  244. 15:13Number one, he has received Jesus Christ
  245. 15:16as Lord and Savior of his life.
  246. 15:18Number two, he seeks to read the word of God daily
  247. 15:21for himself.
  248. 15:22Number three, he spends time daily in prayer.
  249. 15:26Number four, he seeks to have a time daily
  250. 15:29to bring the family together to read the word of God,
  251. 15:32teach from the word of God and pray together.
  252. 15:35Number five, he takes and or makes time to train
  253. 15:38and instructs his children.
  254. 15:40Teaching them about God, the Word of God
  255. 15:42and teaching them wisdom for all ears of life.
  256. 15:46Number six, he seeks to lead and take his family
  257. 15:48to church regularly, such as worship service on Sundays
  258. 15:52and Bible studies on Wednesdays.
  259. 15:54Number seven, he has a sense of mission in his life.
  260. 16:01Pastor Joseph Parker from equipping the church
  261. 16:03to stand boldly for life.
  262. 16:05Ten excellent reasons to read God's word daily.
  263. 16:07Number one, it tells you genuinely how to be saved
  264. 16:09and how to grow up in your faith.
  265. 16:11Number two, it gives you clear guidance and direction
  266. 16:13for much of your life.
  267. 16:14A third reason is it empowers your prayer life,
  268. 16:17worth because it sharpens your ability
  269. 16:19to hear the Holy Spirit speak more and more clearly
  270. 16:22to you in your life.
  271. 16:23A fifth reason, God's word minuses
  272. 16:25to your mind, body, and spirit.
  273. 16:27A sixth reason, it helps you maintain your mental health.
  274. 16:30Number seven, it increases God's anointing
  275. 16:33on every part of your life.
  276. 16:34Number eight, it increases your wisdom.
  277. 16:37A ninth reason, it enhances your intellect and your personality.
  278. 16:41And a tenth reason, it pours grace, peace, mercy,
  279. 16:45and joy into your spirit, your mind, and your life.
  280. 16:47Find Pastor Joseph and many more excellent messages
  281. 16:50from the AFA Cultural Institute at stream.afa.net.
  282. 16:55I would challenge and encourage you to consider starting
  283. 16:57a habit of reading at least three chapters
  284. 16:59in your Bible every day.
  285. 17:01The following is not an actor, but a real life story
  286. 17:05from Trinity Debt Management.
  287. 17:06I'm Claire from Trinity Debt Management.
  288. 17:08I'm a counselor and the reason that I love working
  289. 17:12for Trinity is because I get to help folks
  290. 17:14with one of the hardest problems a family can face
  291. 17:17and that's financial difficulties.
  292. 17:20In this day and age, everything is going up.
  293. 17:22You have higher utilities, higher grocery bills,
  294. 17:25higher fuel and those credit card interest rates
  295. 17:28have gone up as well.
  296. 17:29We can help you with that.
  297. 17:31We can help you get lower interest rates,
  298. 17:33lower monthly payments.
  299. 17:35In just a few minutes we put together a plan that gets you out of debt and keeps you out of debt.
  300. 17:40I love my job.
  301. 17:41It's a great program and a very smart way to find debt relief.
  302. 17:45If credit card debt has you down, call Trinity at 1-800-788-1813.
  303. 17:52I'm Claire, a Trinity counselor.
  304. 17:54Call me and become debt free for keeps.
  305. 17:571-800-788-1813.
  306. 18:05Shining light into the darkness, this is the Hamilton Quarter.
  307. 18:09on American Family Radio.
  308. 18:12Welcome back to the program, alvidekink.com.
  309. 18:15I would urge you to go there and look at Dr. Alvidekink's
  310. 18:19website, alvidekink.com.
  311. 18:21You know, we've only got a couple of more minutes.
  312. 18:24And folks, later on in the show,
  313. 18:25we will have Dr. Jerry Nukem of the Providence Forum
  314. 18:28and take questions.
  315. 18:30But before the break, we were talking about the leaders
  316. 18:33that made up the civil rights movement overtly Christian.
  317. 18:39Tell us any final thoughts and maybe we'll talk about it more to later date, but what would you like people to know about your uncle, your father, that season of our history that people probably don't know?
  318. 18:58The civil rights movement of the 20th century
  319. 19:04was founded on the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
  320. 19:08We need Jesus more than ever today now here at this time.
  321. 19:15This is up for such a time as this moment.
  322. 19:18And if you want to follow the example
  323. 19:21of those who have gone before us,
  324. 19:23we must follow them as they follow Christ.
  325. 19:28Amen. Amen. One last question I'll let you go. How important is the issue of life, legal protection
  326. 19:36for the unborn? And as abortion is rampant in our country, does that hold back the blessing of God
  327. 19:45from us? Human life from the womb to the tomb and beyond is a precious gift from God. And if we're
  328. 19:56We're going to succeed.
  329. 19:58We're going to have to choose life and let that life be abundant in every stage.
  330. 20:05Amen.
  331. 20:06Amen.
  332. 20:07Dr. Alveda King, thank you for being with us tonight.
  333. 20:10It is always an honor to speak with you.
  334. 20:12Her website again, alvedaking.com.
  335. 20:16Thank you, sister.
  336. 20:17And we look forward to when we can talk again.
  337. 20:19Alex McFarland.
  338. 20:20Thank you, Dr. Lesch.
  339. 20:22God bless you, dear one.
  340. 20:23Alex McFarland here.
  341. 20:25By the way, as we continue on, I want to remind people that we have a speaker series that we're
  342. 20:31in process, conversations that matter.
  343. 20:34Last Thursday night, we had nearly 2,000 people from 17 states to come in here, Charlie Kirk.
  344. 20:41And I want to thank everybody for coming out.
  345. 20:43And so many people stood and shook my hand and they said they love exploring the world,
  346. 20:48they love the American Family Radio Network.
  347. 20:51And folks, I believe God is building a movement.
  348. 20:54I really do and you can be a part of it.
  349. 20:56Revival the spiritual awakening
  350. 20:59that our nation so desperately needs.
  351. 21:01And as with all of the truly great awakenings,
  352. 21:05the authentic great awakenings,
  353. 21:07one of the earmarks of a movement of God like this
  354. 21:10is a return to the authority of scripture and the Bible.
  355. 21:15And folks, as we honor God's word,
  356. 21:19God will continue to work in our nation.
  357. 21:22on 1717, Jesus said, sanctify them by thy truth, thy word is truth. That's what the Holy Bible
  358. 21:31is. It is the very word of God. Well, just a valued colleague and friend that believes
  359. 21:37that too is Dr. Jerry Newcomb with the Providence Forum. You've read his work, no doubt, he is
  360. 21:45not only a great Christian thinker, he's a prolific author. It seems like every day or
  361. 21:51so I get great articles in my inbox written by Dr. Jerry Nukem. He's with us now. Dr. Nukem,
  362. 21:59thanks for making time to be with us tonight on the American Family Radio Network.
  363. 22:03Oh, thank you, Alex. Thanks for the privilege.
  364. 22:06Oh, yes. Well, before we get into some questions, what's the latest? What is on your
  365. 22:14your word processor. I know you're researching and writing, you do it so much and so well.
  366. 22:21Well, thank you. Coming out tonight, in fact, on World in the Daily, will be my latest article.
  367. 22:29And actually, it's a tribute to Dr. James Dobson and the man whom Dr. James Dobson, the human man
  368. 22:38that James Dobson gave credit to for his incredible ministry.
  369. 22:44And you know who that was?
  370. 22:46Perhaps, DJ James.
  371. 22:47If I was in Kennedy.
  372. 22:48No, it was his own father.
  373. 22:50It was a doctor.
  374. 22:51Doctor Dobson, James Dobson.
  375. 22:54It was actually James Dobson, senior, Reverend,
  376. 22:57James Dobson, senior.
  377. 22:59And James Dobson, junior, doctor James Dobson.
  378. 23:02So the one we all know is James Dobson, junior, technically.
  379. 23:05Okay, so when he was a young boy in the early teenage years,
  380. 23:11he started to rebel.
  381. 23:13And his father was a traveling evangelist
  382. 23:17out in the west, west part of the country.
  383. 23:19And when he got the word that James, Jim needed more help
  384. 23:26and more attention from his own dad,
  385. 23:28his dad canceled the slate of meetings that he had upcoming.
  386. 23:33He moved the family south about 700 miles to a small little place in Texas where he became
  387. 23:41a pastor of a church, a much smaller ministry, but he wanted to do this to focus on Jim and
  388. 23:48make sure that James Dobson Jr. that his life would come out all right.
  389. 23:55And it did.
  390. 23:56And then later when after a focus on the family just absolutely took off and everything,
  391. 24:03the senior was praying and asking God for guidance for the rest of his life.
  392. 24:08He was at the age of 66 and he was fasting and praying and he felt as if God was
  393. 24:13saying to him that I've heard your prayers and I'm going to actually take
  394. 24:20the ministry and go worldwide through your work.
  395. 24:24It's going to reach millions and I'm going to do that through your son.
  396. 24:28And James stops in junior didn't even get this word until about seven
  397. 24:32years later from his aunt about this whole thing. But it's very encouraging. It's just like, oh, wow.
  398. 24:38So James Stopsen Jr., the one we all knew and loved and who just died last week,
  399. 24:46was so blessed by his father's ministry and input into his own life, and that he was able to share
  400. 24:54that by God's grace all around the world. So it's such an encouraging thing. And I actually,
  401. 25:00I learned of all this from doing a feature with him back in 1993 for coral
  402. 25:05ridge ministries and they even let me look at home movies of the James Dobson
  403. 25:13family. So I got to see hiking and you know fishing and all this kind of stuff.
  404. 25:18There's all in the West and so anyway Dr. Dobson said to me now listen Jerry I'm
  405. 25:23letting you look at these home movies and this transfer of these home movies. I
  406. 25:27I don't want to see this on any other program, you know, no other episode of Core Origin
  407. 25:32Ministries or whatever.
  408. 25:34It's just for this segment, okay?
  409. 25:35Understood?
  410. 25:36Yes, sir.
  411. 25:37Yes, sir.
  412. 25:38And we were totally good with that.
  413. 25:41And so, but it was a privilege to look at those old home movies and they were well shot
  414. 25:46actually, six millimeter in the 40's.
  415. 25:48Oh, do you know?
  416. 25:50And I heard him tell that story too.
  417. 25:52And I had a total of eight years I worked for Dr. Dobson.
  418. 25:58And I got to tell you, Jerry, and I'll tell you where I'm going with this in just a moment,
  419. 26:04but everything really, everything good that's happened in my wife and I, our ministry over
  420. 26:13the last 22 years came through Dr. Dobson.
  421. 26:18Now whenever I've shared this, Dr. Dobson would say to me, Alex, it came through Jesus, and
  422. 26:23yes, that is absolutely true.
  423. 26:25To God be the glory.
  424. 26:27But I was a youth pastor here in Greensboro, North Carolina, and we were renting the local
  425. 26:33Colosseum, and I had done events and brought in Josh McDowell and a lot of speakers like that.
  426. 26:41We actually brought Coach Tom Landry to Greensboro.
  427. 26:44We had 8,000 teenagers, but we did an event at Yale up in New Haven, Connecticut.
  428. 26:51Well, Christianity Today wrote a little tiny piece about youth and apologetics.
  429. 26:59And a guy saw that named HB London.
  430. 27:03That was Dr. Dobson's cousin who was working at Focus.
  431. 27:06And Dr. London called me up and he said, are you that youth apologetics guy?
  432. 27:11And I said, yes, sir.
  433. 27:13He goes, well, my cousin, Jim Dobson, may he call you?
  434. 27:19And I was like, yes.
  435. 27:22And anyway, so Dr. Dobson called me up and he said, I'm going to cut to the chase.
  436. 27:28This is exactly what he said.
  437. 27:29I'm going to cut to the chase.
  438. 27:31I want you to bring your circus under our tent.
  439. 27:35And two months later, my wife and I were living in Colorado Springs.
  440. 27:41This was back in late 2003, but that was the perfect next step for us and so many things.
  441. 27:52But when Dr. Dobson passed last week, I'm telling you, you know it, I know it from personal
  442. 28:00working for him.
  443. 28:01He was one of the greats.
  444. 28:03He was one of the greats.
  445. 28:05Now here's what I want to ask you to do.
  446. 28:07Oh, yeah, if you don't mind, Dr. Dobson is the one who eulogized DJ James Kennedy.
  447. 28:13So when DJ James Kennedy died in 2007, Dr. Dobson spoke and it was so beautiful.
  448. 28:20And the two of them along with Bill Bright and Martin Maddox and Larry Burkett and one
  449. 28:25or two others, they founded the ADF, which is still going strong to help fight for our
  450. 28:31religious freedom.
  451. 28:32Oh, why does defending sweet?
  452. 28:33We owe a lot to Dr. Dobson.
  453. 28:36And I have to say also, we owe a lot to D. James Kennedy too.
  454. 28:39And I've heard you talk about that.
  455. 28:41But didn't you say one time your own family benefited
  456. 28:46your parents from watching Dr. Kennedy on TV?
  457. 28:50They really did.
  458. 28:51And folks, if you're just tuning in, Alex McFarland here,
  459. 28:54and I'm talking with my longtime friend and colleague,
  460. 28:57Dr. Jerry Nukem, just one of my, literally one
  461. 29:01of my favorite authors and folks, anything that he has written you need to read. Really,
  462. 29:08you will not be disappointed. But yeah, Jerry, in the mid 80s, our family farm, we had an
  463. 29:16egg farm for 88 years. My grandfather, my dad, and 68 of those 88 years, we were in the
  464. 29:24egg business. We had eggs, chicken and egg customers all over the Mid-Atlantic region.
  465. 29:30But the gas crunch of the late 70s, market forces, by 1985 we were nearly a million dollars in
  466. 29:40debt. My sister and I were in our late teens and mom and dad were always fighting and it
  467. 29:49It was a hard time. My dad was a small businessman with 18 employees and we were going bankrupt.
  468. 29:56The bank literally came to put us out of our house. The mortgage was in arrears and nobody
  469. 30:04knew that. But what happened was, and I was not a Christian yet. I mean, I had been to
  470. 30:10church, but I didn't have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ yet. Well, my mother and
  471. 30:15dad one day called us in and my sister and I we knew things were bad and my dad said
  472. 30:21we might lose the house we might lose everything but your mother and I have committed our lives
  473. 30:28to Christ and we've been watching they were watching two shows that were watching Charles
  474. 30:34Stanley but they were watching D. James Kennedy and little by little we begin to get stacks of
  475. 30:41VHS tapes of James Kennedy preaching. My dad and my mother were like deep fans and followers
  476. 30:51of the Coral Ridge Hour. And I began to watch too and that's a lot of what I learned about
  477. 30:58biblical worldview. But watching James- That's fantastic. What you just said, Alex, you're
  478. 31:06the man when it comes to the whole cultural mandate that we should be salt and light.
  479. 31:10not just light but also salt in the culture.
  480. 31:14God is very nice of you to say that about Dr. Kennedy.
  481. 31:17Well, he was amazing.
  482. 31:19I had the privilege of meeting him on one occasion,
  483. 31:22personally having a conversation with him,
  484. 31:24but my mother and dad committed their life to Christ,
  485. 31:27and they were in there at this point,
  486. 31:29they would have been in their late 60s.
  487. 31:31And watching D. James Kennedy,
  488. 31:34they committed their life to Christ.
  489. 31:36And I'll never forget the family meeting.
  490. 31:38It was very impactful.
  491. 31:40We gathered around the coffee table.
  492. 31:43And again, I was at this point, I don't know, 18 or 19.
  493. 31:47I didn't understand a lot of anything.
  494. 31:51And my dad said, children, we might lose everything.
  495. 31:55But your mother and I have given our life to Christ.
  496. 31:58And we've got Jesus Christ.
  497. 32:00And that's what's most important.
  498. 32:02But it was the D. James Kennedy show where he would come on and he would explain the
  499. 32:08gospel and my parents accepted Christ and hey all of our problems didn't evaporate overnight
  500. 32:17but I saw a difference and then at age 21 I started going to a Monday night Bible study
  501. 32:24and I asked Jesus Christ to be my Lord and Savior but I'm going to tell you Dr. Newcomb
  502. 32:31I saw a real, real change in my parents and the fighting stopped mostly.
  503. 32:41And that new life changed lasted for the rest of their lives.
  504. 32:47Now I want to talk for a moment and we'll probably have to pick this up on the other
  505. 32:52side of the break.
  506. 32:55In the late 70s, God raised up some people.
  507. 32:58My boss and mentor, James Dobson, Dr. Don Wildman of the American Family Association, Chuck Colson,
  508. 33:06Phyllis Schlafley, and yes, D. James Kennedy, did you ever see that in a time period in the
  509. 33:17late 70s as our country was losing its way.
  510. 33:22But God was raising up some very key cultural and spiritual leaders, wasn't he?
  511. 33:29He was.
  512. 33:30And in every single case, they had to deal with a lot of pushback.
  513. 33:36And I remember, I grew up in the Chicago area, and I remember hearing all these terrible things
  514. 33:42about Philislavley, that lady saved America from the E.R.A.
  515. 33:47She did. She saved America from the E.R.A.A. and she was, you know, she was kind of like
  516. 33:53the feminist archenemy, but in reality, she was almost like a real role model because she
  517. 33:59used to talk about sequencing. She had a family, many children, she was a full-time mother and
  518. 34:08you know, when the children were small, when they needed her, she focused on her family.
  519. 34:12Then when the children got out of the house and everything, then she went to law school
  520. 34:18and became a lawyer and then eventually started Eagle Forum and did a lot as Salt and Light.
  521. 34:24Jerry Falwell used his Baptist Cupid in the Lynchburg, Virginia area and
  522. 34:30impacted all kinds of different people. And he gave up, he was a great example of being salt and
  523. 34:35light and just showing that, hey, the scriptures apply to all of life.
  524. 34:40And as Paul Blair, who's been influenced by all these different people, I know you know
  525. 34:46who Paul Blair is.
  526. 34:47I'm hoping that we've got to take a break.
  527. 34:50We're going to come back.
  528. 34:51Paul Blair is a great friend, more with Dr. Jerry Nukem after this.
  529. 34:55Stay tuned, folks.

  547. 36:01Trustworthy Bible.
  548. 36:02This is David Wheaton, host of The Christian World View.
  549. 36:06The Bible claims to be the inspired Word of God.
  550. 36:09Succompeteer 1 says,
  551. 36:10No prophecy was ever made by an act of human will,
  552. 36:14but men moved by the Holy Spirit, spoke from God.
  553. 36:19God inspired 40 men to write the 66 books of the Bible
  554. 36:22over a span of about 1500 years on three continents
  555. 36:26in three languages.
  556. 36:28The original manuscripts no longer exist,
  557. 36:30so can we trust our modern English translations
  558. 36:33to be anything like the original?
  559. 36:35The answer is yes.
  560. 36:37When comparing the thousands of copies of the Old and New Testaments, the accuracy is
  561. 36:41substantively identical.
  562. 36:44Here are most recent programs on the trustworthiness of the Bible at TheChristianWorldView.org and

  566. 37:00Candice talks about finding out she was pregnant.
  567. 37:03Thankfully, an ultrasound provided by Preborn allowed her to hear her baby's heartbeat.
  568. 37:08The sonogram sealed the deal for me.
  569. 37:11My baby was like this tiny little spectrum of hope.
  570. 37:16And I saw his heart beating on the screen.
  571. 37:19And knowing that there's life growing inside, I mean, that sonogram changed my life.
  572. 37:27I went from just Candice to Mom.
  573. 37:31Thank you to everybody that has given these gifts.
  574. 37:34You guys are giving more than money.
  575. 37:36You guys are giving love.

  585. 38:00Some would say truth is relative, and to the world, that's right.
  586. 38:04What the world considers to be truth fluctuates depending on the narrative they're trying to
  587. 38:08promote.
  588. 38:09Of course, we know truth is found in Scripture, and it never changes.
  589. 38:14The documentary, The God Who Speaks, proves the Bible's reliability as the source of real
  590. 38:19truth and reinforces our belief in it as our firm foundation.

  594. 38:40Back to the Hamilton Quarter on American Family Radio.
  595. 38:45Welcome back to the program.
  596. 38:46Alex McFarland here along with longtime friend and colleague Dr. Jerry Nukem.
  597. 38:50And you know, we're kind of talking about the culture wars, which really is a spiritual
  598. 38:56battle for the soul of the DNA, the future of our nation.
  599. 39:00If you have a question, Dr. Jerry Nukem is a veteran and has been there.
  600. 39:08If you want to ask a question of he or I, you may call in at AAA 5898840, AAA 5898840.
  601. 39:18Dr. Nukem, I love history because it really does give context.
  602. 39:24I was thinking about the vision of D. James Kennedy for whom you worked.
  603. 39:30I think about James Dobson, who was my boss, and my now 15 years on the air and with the
  604. 39:38American Family Association, founded by Don Wildman, Dr. Don Wildman.
  605. 39:44I really think what I did with and for focus on the family in James Dobson prepared me for
  606. 39:51the day I got a call from AFA, but Phyllis Schlafly, who was a champion for life and Jerry
  607. 40:00Falwell.
  608. 40:03Those guys and women, they were so visionary in the late 70s.
  609. 40:09Would you agree that those leaders, and I think about Bill Bright and Adrian Rogers,
  610. 40:15who at a key moment helped save the Southern Baptist Convention from moderate slash liberal
  611. 40:22theology in his day.
  612. 40:25Those leaders, they were raised up by God, weren't they?
  613. 40:29Yes, they were.
  614. 40:30And I think they even helped save the nation.
  615. 40:33I think they were helpful, for example, to bring in Ronald Reagan, who did a lot, to try
  616. 40:40and stemmed the tide of the corruption that was going on in the culture.
  617. 40:45And basically what it boiled down to is they were just trying to be salt and light where
  618. 40:50God had placed them.
  619. 40:52Just before the break, I had mentioned a gentleman named Paul Blair.
  620. 40:55He used to play football, not that I follow sports at all, but he used to be with the
  621. 40:59Bears.
  622. 41:00But now he leads pastors in Liberty pastors conferences and so forth.
  623. 41:06I was just at one of those the other day and he said by the way he quoted you, but he said that
  624. 41:13You know here's my question for everybody all you pastors what part of
  625. 41:19Your life is Jesus Christ not Lord of
  626. 41:23You know is there some part of your life that that
  627. 41:28The pulpits had never even mentioned because you know you're ashamed of him or something like that
  628. 41:34So really what it goes on to what we're talking about is what is often called the cultural mandate
  629. 41:41Dr. Peter Loech
  630. 41:42calls it the public theology
  631. 41:46Jesus called it salt and light but really one man described it very well. He said and that was Frank, right? He said
  632. 41:53The cultural mandate means applying the mind of Christ to the great issues of the day
  633. 41:59Yes, I think that's about as great a definition as I've ever heard and I think that's what we need to do
  634. 42:05We just need to wherever God has placed us whatever
  635. 42:09Portion of this world that he's put us in just to be salt and light and to be faithful
  636. 42:15Where he's placed us and did not compromise too often as you know Alex people tend to compromise
  637. 42:23Sometimes it's just honestly it's just fear of man or maybe it's just
  638. 42:29not caring enough about that issue.
  639. 42:32Could I give one anecdote of what to do?
  640. 42:36Real fast?
  641. 42:37Absolutely.
  642. 42:38Okay, yes.
  643. 42:39The two gentlemen that wrote that wonderful,
  644. 42:42modern classic, Christian hymn in Christ alone.
  645. 42:47Sure.
  646. 42:48They were asked by a liberal denomination.
  647. 42:50They said, we love your hymn.
  648. 42:52We love to use it in our hymnal.
  649. 42:54However, we just wanna change one little line
  650. 42:58and then we can publish it and we'll send you royalties and so forth or, you know,
  651. 43:04some kind of a statement. And the line was,
  652. 43:08and on the cross as Jesus died,
  653. 43:12the wrath of God was satisfied.
  654. 43:15And what the liberal denomination wanted to change it to was,
  655. 43:19and on the cross as Jesus died, the love of God was magnified.
  656. 43:25In other words, they would have taken out the heart of the gospel.
  657. 43:29Jesus Christ crucified for sinners died for our salvation.
  658. 43:35Right.
  659. 43:35And God bless Mr. Getty and Mr.
  660. 43:39Townon, they said, no.
  661. 43:42And so the liberal denomination said, then no, we're not going to publish your book,
  662. 43:47your song, your hymn.
  663. 43:50And they said, well, so be it.
  664. 43:52And we need to take stands where we are and that's where the difference, that's where in
  665. 44:00the difference lay.
  666. 44:01And I think that's when you look back at the life of these great leaders that God raised
  667. 44:06up male or female britzes, it boils down to they didn't compromise at a critical time
  668. 44:14and it made a huge difference for Christ.
  669. 44:16Absolutely, absolutely.
  670. 44:18It boils down to the authority of God's Word.
  671. 44:22Yes.
  672. 44:23I love over and over in the Bible, many, many verses attest to the Bible's authenticity and
  673. 44:31authority.
  674. 44:32I love that phrase.
  675. 44:33It says, diminish not a word.
  676. 44:38We're not to edit, truncate, or shrink down God's Word, are we?
  677. 44:43Right, exactly.
  678. 44:45He has given us so much.
  679. 44:48The Bible, when I first discovered the Bible as a young born-again college student at the
  680. 44:54age of 18, many years ago, at Tulane University in New Orleans, I remember starting to read
  681. 45:00the Bible and it's like, wow, where is this book been all my life?
  682. 45:03And it was, it was just, even just in terms of the culture, it was like, wow, look at all
  683. 45:10these phrases, everyday phrases, and they come from this book.
  684. 45:13I knew these names and so forth.
  685. 45:16I didn't know exactly what the stories were and the associations.
  686. 45:21And, you know, I've even, I forgot to what it was.
  687. 45:24I think it was Richard Dawkins, the atheist, in his book, The God Delusion.
  688. 45:29It's a well-written book by an atheist promoting atheism, but he actually says near the end
  689. 45:34of it.
  690. 45:35Now, I don't believe that the Bible is the Word of God.
  691. 45:37However, you are culturally illiterate if you do not know the Bible and you should read
  692. 45:43the Bible just so you can know it's rich literature value. And it's like, oh, okay, we believe the
  693. 45:50Bible because it's the Word of God. But it is also true that it's great literature and it's
  694. 45:57the most important book in the whole world. I think it's easily arguable that the King James
  695. 46:03Version in the English language is probably the greatest book ever produced in the English
  696. 46:09language and it's only a better would be John Milton's Paradise Lost, which some people
  697. 46:16say that's the greatest masterpiece in English language.
  698. 46:21And what is Paradise Lost?
  699. 46:22Oh it's a retelling of the biblical story.
  700. 46:24Sure, sure.
  701. 46:25It's amazing.
  702. 46:26Oh well, hands down, I mean the King James Bible is the most influential book in world
  703. 46:32history I believe.
  704. 46:34You know, Jerry, I was in a worldview conference about a month ago, and one of the speakers
  705. 46:42said that more Christian universities have been started than all other types of universities
  706. 46:49combined.
  707. 46:50I mean, there have been law schools and medical schools, and you know, people start institutions
  708. 46:56for a myriad of reasons, but more Christian educational institutions, yeah, than all others
  709. 47:03combined. Harvard, Yale, Dartmouth. I remember one time the Washington Post had said that
  710. 47:12the followers of Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson are ignorant, easily led, and foolish, something
  711. 47:19like that. They said that in the paper and the next day they apologized for it. But Dr.
  712. 47:25D. James Kennedy made a remark about that one time and he said, you know, so a lot of
  713. 47:29people in our culture think that Christians are basically ignorant. I'm not sure if the
  714. 47:34Reverend John Harvard would agree with that or the Puritan, Elohoo Yale or the Princeton
  715. 47:40elders who, I mean the Presbyterian elders who founded Princeton and you get the idea.
  716. 47:46It's just, it's so true though, the link between Christianity and literacy all around
  717. 47:52the world. Even frankly, even a lot of languages in the world have been first and were first
  718. 47:59set to writing by Christians for Christian purposes.
  719. 48:03So people could be able to read the Bible for themselves.
  720. 48:06It's actually fascinating.
  721. 48:08The link, by the way, between literacy and prosperity
  722. 48:12is very strong.
  723. 48:14And so therefore the link between the Christian gospel
  724. 48:18is gone.
  725. 48:18It's made a huge difference.
  726. 48:20Dee James Kenan and I wrote a couple of books about this.
  727. 48:22What if Jesus had never been born?
  728. 48:24What if I had never been written?
  729. 48:26And it's basically you could say those books
  730. 48:28could be called because Jesus was born. Look at all these positive things and same with the Bible.
  731. 48:33Oh, I want to take a call. Let's go to Kansas, a K in Kansas. K, thanks for holding. Welcome to
  732. 48:41our conversation with Dr. Jerry Newcomb. Oh, yes. Well, thank you for taking my call. I so appreciate
  733. 48:48your program and the kind of encouragement and exhortations you're giving. And I just wanted to
  734. 48:56kind of co-tell on what you both were talking about,
  735. 49:03that there has to be confronting.
  736. 49:06I'm on the fourth reading through of the Bible.
  737. 49:08I'm starting on Revelation, which I'm not bragging about that
  738. 49:12because there are people that have read the Bible much more.
  739. 49:15But one thing that really stood out to me is that with all
  740. 49:20the false teachers that were infiltrating the churches,
  741. 49:25Peter talked about it, Paul talked about it.
  742. 49:29You know, John, you know, they had the name name sometimes,
  743. 49:33but they never said, well, you better go find another church.
  744. 49:38They, you know, they were all about, we've got to put this down,
  745. 49:43this false teaching, we've got to reform, do it biblically,
  746. 49:48you know, talk to that brother, and, you know, it needs to be men,
  747. 49:54not women, you know, I can't really do that in the speed, the men in the congregation,
  748. 50:01and they've got to know the Word of God, and they've got to catch things that, oh, you know,
  749. 50:07and they're not there just to catch things, they're there to learn, but if they notice something,
  750. 50:11they've got to talk to that pastor or that elder, you know, it's never, because I hear all the time,
  751. 50:19and well often I hear people calling in on radio programs and they're saying you know or the host
  752. 50:26is saying well I get calls about people can't find a good church well we have to make our churches
  753. 50:31good and nobody likes to do that nobody likes confrontation you know that's hard but you know
  754. 50:42the Bible requires it you know it's not flee your church go find some other church because the
  755. 50:48trajectory of that is, well, when you pass out tracks or share the gospel, where are those
  756. 50:55people supposed to go?
  757. 50:57Okay.
  758. 50:58And I think about Matthew 18 and Church Discipline and 1 Timothy 5, 20, them that sin rebuke before
  759. 51:07all that others also may fear.
  760. 51:10Dr. Newcomb, I especially think about when it comes to teachings that are heretical.
  761. 51:17Why is there not the willingness within many denominations or churches to self-correct and
  762. 51:25get back to what the Bible says?
  763. 51:27What do you think that is?
  764. 51:29Well, I think in some cases it boils down to people's wanting their ears to be itched.
  765. 51:35They want to hear what they want to hear.
  766. 51:38There's really a couple of different things that you brought up and then the call or two.
  767. 51:44One thought that came to mind is the old statement which I thought was from R.C.
  768. 51:48Sproul and then I learned, oh, it's actually Spurgeon.
  769. 51:50A lot of these things you just keep tracing it back.
  770. 51:53But anyway, the thought goes like this, if you ever find a perfect church, don't join
  771. 51:57it because then it will no longer be perfect.
  772. 51:59Okay, that's point one.
  773. 52:01Point number two, there are some churches where unfortunately as they just let go of biblical
  774. 52:07authority, they just get worse and worse and worse and worse.
  775. 52:13Erwin Lutzer uses a great example in one of his books about two drop lots of water that are close
  776. 52:19to each other around the time of the or around the area of the continental divide in the United
  777. 52:24States and then they're they're they're real close and then they're about an inch apart and then before
  778. 52:29long they're about a foot apart and before long they're miles apart and when if a church gets rid of
  779. 52:38biblical authority for all practical purposes.
  780. 52:40They ordain homosexuals.
  781. 52:41Oh, okay.
  782. 52:42I mean, are you serious?
  783. 52:45I mean, it's not just, you know,
  784. 52:47to say that homosexuality is a sin.
  785. 52:49It's not to say that, you know,
  786. 52:50we don't agree with same sex marriage,
  787. 52:53but to actually ordain people
  788. 52:55that are in full for rebellion in this way.
  789. 52:58We'll try to get one more question.
  790. 52:59That's totally wrong.
  791. 53:00But that's different than, let's say,
  792. 53:02a church where there's, you know,
  793. 53:03some arguments about some of the nuances of biblical oriented doctrine.
  794. 53:10You know, we're almost out of time. David in Kentucky, I'm sorry. David in Kentucky had
  795. 53:15a question about the Bible chained to a pulpit. Wasn't that the great Bible that was, I think
  796. 53:22it was in England that the Bible was changed? It wasn't in England. When the Bible was first
  797. 53:27made available in the English language and ironically it was Henry VIII who did it. He
  798. 53:32He had Tyndale killed and Tyndale prayed,
  799. 53:37God opened the King of England's eyes.
  800. 53:39Three years later, He allowed the Bible to be released.
  801. 53:42It was so popular, it had to be chained to the pulp
  802. 53:45but because people wanted it
  803. 53:48and they just couldn't get enough of it.
  804. 53:50Today we have an embarrassment of riches
  805. 53:52with all kinds of Bibles, that's fantastic.
  806. 53:54Dr. Jerry Newcom, I wanna thank you.
  807. 53:56And folks, listen, remember your labor in the Lord
  808. 53:58is not in vain.
  809. 53:59Stay bold, stand strong, speak up, be an influencer for Jesus.
  810. 54:04We'll see you again soon.
