  2. 0:03It simply reoccupies the space vacated by the light.

  4. 0:11It should be uncomfortable for a believer to live as a hypocrite.
  5. 0:15Delivery people out of the bondage of mainstream media.
  6. 0:18And the philosophies of this world.
  7. 0:20God has called you and me to be his ambassador.
  8. 0:24Even in this dark moment.
  9. 0:26Let's not miss our moment.
  10. 0:28and now the Hamilton Corner.
  11. 0:31Good evening, America.
  12. 0:34Alex McFarland here sitting in for attorney,
  13. 0:37pastor, journalist, Abe Hamilton, the third.
  14. 0:40And this is the Hamilton Corner on the American Family Radio
  15. 0:43Network.
  16. 0:44I'm very privileged to be sitting in for Abe Hamilton
  17. 0:48and very honored that you are listening.
  18. 0:50And we have a really, really good show.
  19. 0:52We're going to visit with a couple of people
  20. 0:55that are leading opinion makers in conservative Christian
  21. 0:59circles. And I'm going to begin and queue up a guest that we have in just a moment. But I want to
  22. 1:05say a special thank you to the AFA family for a couple of things. As you may know, last week we
  23. 1:11had the Truth for Youth Bible campaign. Our friend and colleague Tim Todd of Revival for Our Ministry,
  24. 1:18the Truth for Youth Bible is a copy of God's Word that has the Scriptures. But it also has what
  25. 1:25what we're called graphic novels and you, the AFA audience, you gave money and purchased
  26. 1:32by your donating 63,000 copies.
  27. 1:36I was on a Zoom call earlier this week with evangelist Tim Todd.
  28. 1:40A couple of days ago it was like at about the 59,000 amount, but 63,000 copies of the Bible
  29. 1:47that are going to be put in the hands of American young people.
  30. 1:50And it's got the gospel and every year thousands of young people indicate that they've made
  31. 1:56a decision for Christ.
  32. 1:57So I just want to say glory to God and thank you for that.
  33. 2:01The other thing, and I'll mention this a couple of times in the show, but day after tomorrow,
  34. 2:05Thursday, August 15th, I will be in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
  35. 2:10We've got two evangelistic events on Thursday, August 15th, one in North Myrtle Beach, one
  36. 2:16in regular Myrtle Beach, two different theaters, and the website for this.
  37. 2:20I want you to pray no matter where you are in America.
  38. 2:23Please pray.
  39. 2:24This website is curiousaboutChrist.com.
  40. 2:28CuriousaboutChrist.com.
  41. 2:31And they're evangelistic events.
  42. 2:34They're free, open to the public.
  43. 2:36And please pray and please promote.
  44. 2:39And if you happen to be in the realm of Myrtle Beach, I would love to meet you when we share
  45. 2:44the gospel twice in two different venues on Thursday.
  46. 2:48Now speaking about curious about Christ, I want to segue to our first guest, Dr. Holly
  47. 2:54Varnum, because God is using her work.
  48. 2:57She is a Director of Curriculum Development at Reasons for Hope, a ministry that I've had
  49. 3:02a long-term relationship with.
  50. 3:04But do you know what?
  51. 3:0686% of teens and young adults say this.
  52. 3:10This is fascinating that, and these are teens that are not professed Christians and no church
  53. 3:18background necessarily, but research shows that almost nine out of ten say they would
  54. 3:24quote strongly consider attending a church service if they were invited by a friend.
  55. 3:31Isn't that something? People ever since COVID, people have a lot of spiritual curiosity and reasons
  56. 3:38for hope is a ministry that is doing so much in terms of worldview and apologetics, bringing people
  57. 3:44of many ages, but especially young people to Christ.
  58. 3:49And I'm interested in speaking with Dr. Holly Vornum
  59. 3:52because she is, I would say, an expert voice
  60. 3:55when it comes to how young people think
  61. 3:58and how males and females think differently.
  62. 4:01But without further ado, Dr. Vornum,
  63. 4:03thanks for being with us tonight on the Hamilton Corner.
  64. 4:07But most of all, thank you for what you're doing
  65. 4:09for our nation and for the body of Christ.
  66. 4:11Welcome.
  67. 4:13Oh, thank you.
  68. 4:14It's my pleasure.
  69. 4:16For those that may be unaware,
  70. 4:17tell us about Reasons for Hope
  71. 4:20and what the ministry's website is.
  72. 4:24So, Reasons for Hope is an apologetics ministry.
  73. 4:28Our mission statement is to train and equip
  74. 4:31a new generation to boldly stand on the word of God.
  75. 4:36We are dedicated to reaching teens with the truth
  76. 4:40and supporting their parents
  77. 4:42as they raise these teens in a godless culture.
  78. 4:46Our website address is rforh.com.
  79. 4:52R-F-O-R-H.com.
  80. 4:54You know, kids have a lot of questions
  81. 4:58about spiritual issues and they've got a lot of questions
  82. 5:01about gender.
  83. 5:03And I think one of the things that is very important,
  84. 5:06and I know you speak to this,
  85. 5:08is telling young people the truth about male and female, gender, of course morals and marriage
  86. 5:17and the things that are so foundational to life.
  87. 5:21But there are so many false voices out there in the world today, aren't there?
  88. 5:28Absolutely.
  89. 5:29And Alex, I always, you know, we always go back to scripture when we're talking to the
  90. 5:34teens and we always start in Genesis where it all began.
  91. 5:38Genesis 127 as we know says so God created man in his own image in the image of God
  92. 5:46He created him male and female he created them and I think it starts with helping kids
  93. 5:54Understand and realize that they are created in the image of God
  94. 6:00Why do you think the LGBTQ trans?
  95. 6:04You know and by the way folks this ever lengthening
  96. 6:07acronym, LGBTQ Trans plus plus.
  97. 6:13Now, Holly or Dr. Vornum, I should say, I see this 2S as in two-spirit, and that's a
  98. 6:20whole nother topic.
  99. 6:21I mean, people being oppressed or possessed.
  100. 6:26But why do you think the LGBTQ Trans movement has been so insistent in abolishing gender distinctions?
  101. 6:37Well, I think again, it goes back to that verse, Alex.
  102. 6:42They're denying they vehemently deny God, some of them the existence of God, but they
  103. 6:50certainly don't want God to be an authority over them.
  104. 6:53And they're not admitting they're created in the image of God and acknowledging that God
  105. 6:58created mankind to be binary, male and female.
  106. 7:03And so, man in his quest for his own truth, not relying on the truth of God's word, is
  107. 7:10going to seek every other way to find meaning and hope and pleasure.
  108. 7:18And they keep going down this path darker and darker.
  109. 7:24You know, irrespective of the insistence of a fallen world, little boys and little girls
  110. 7:32are different, men and women are different, male and female. It's not uniform. There are
  111. 7:40objective differences, aren't there? Absolutely. In fact, just the sexual binary of the
  112. 7:48XX chromosome and the XY chromosome, it is expressed differently in at least 6,500 genes of the body.
  113. 7:58And that expression can't be changed by hormone therapy or surgery.
  114. 8:04It permeates the cells of the body.
  115. 8:07And we see it exhibit itself through the brain tissue itself,
  116. 8:13through how the brain is organized, how it functions,
  117. 8:17the processing of emotions and behavior.
  118. 8:20The musculoskeletal system, every muscle fiber,
  119. 8:25every bone cell has that expression of the X, Y, or the X chromosome immune
  120. 8:34function, susceptibility to different types of diseases, and then responses to
  121. 8:40medication and pain. So many more things that I can mention, those are just a few,
  122. 8:48but that it is very obvious in science, not just observation, not just scientific influence,
  123. 8:58but in the empirical evidence that binary, male and female are outwardly observable, but
  124. 9:06inwardly obvious.
  125. 9:07What do you think churches should be doing as far as, you know, maybe in their discipleship
  126. 9:15or their teaching. And frankly, I have to say, and Dr. Vornum, I mean, I love the church.
  127. 9:21I care about the American church. And I do a lot of traveling, but I'm not hearing churches
  128. 9:29really address this. And I think we have a responsibility to speak to where the battle
  129. 9:37is raging. So churches, let me encourage you, bravely,
  130. 9:42spiritually speak about sexual, moral, gender issues.
  131. 9:47But what do you recommend that churches do, Dr. Varnam?
  132. 9:51Well, I know it is scary.
  133. 9:53It's scary for parents to address the issue because many of them aren't aware of the research
  134. 10:02that's been done, of the scientific evidence out there to show that the whole LGBTQ platform
  135. 10:10is not just unnatural, it's ungodly.
  136. 10:13They know it in the arts, but they don't know much of the information that's out there.
  137. 10:22And that's one of the things that the Lord has really put on my heart to do teaching and
  138. 10:27training about this.
  139. 10:30There's a gentleman named Dr. Daniel Amen, who runs clinics all over the country.
  140. 10:37And he is the foremost world expert on analyzing specced scans.
  141. 10:44Specced scans are brain scans that show the activity in the brain.
  142. 10:48And he's done over 200,000 of these in 155 countries.
  143. 10:54But he's done 46,000 of those are to show distinctions between the male and the female
  144. 11:00brain.
  145. 11:01And the world would have us believe that there's really no difference.
  146. 11:06I think it would behoove churches and parents to do a little research.
  147. 11:12I mean, honestly, you can go on YouTube and do a search for differences between males and
  148. 11:19females.
  149. 11:20And Dr. Daniel Amman, that's spelled A-M-E-N.
  150. 11:24Yes.
  151. 11:26Did you ever happen to see a book by a neuroscientist at the Albert Einstein School of Medicine,
  152. 11:32Dr. Francis Jensen?
  153. 11:35She's written a lot.
  154. 11:37I picked this book up about a year ago.
  155. 11:40It's called The Teenage Brain.
  156. 11:42And part of the reason I bring up like renowned neuroscientists and surgeons is look folks in
  157. 11:49saying that gender is binary, male and female.
  158. 11:52This is not merely some preacher on a soapbox, although the Word of God is certainly our source
  159. 12:00for truth.
  160. 12:01But Dr. Francis Jensen said, and I quote, that males and females are neurologically different
  161. 12:09is quote indisputable.
  162. 12:12And I mean, I could give volumes of quotes how here's a scientist practically crying out,
  163. 12:20male and female are objective categories of being.
  164. 12:26not gender fluid, but there are objective differences continue.
  165. 12:33Absolutely.
  166. 12:34So, Alex, something that you actually brought up at a recent equip camp that we were both
  167. 12:40at in South Carolina were four of the main reasons that young people will go through
  168. 12:47this, what is deemed gender dysphoria.
  169. 12:51And I've actually talked to people.
  170. 12:53So when you gave these statistics, I was like, that's exactly right.
  171. 12:58So that reason stem back to their early childhood where they could have been
  172. 13:04sexually molested, never really bonded with the parent of their same set.
  173. 13:10Both to pornography at an early age, or there was some other kind of traumatic event
  174. 13:15that happened.
  175. 13:16And so the research does show that gender dysphoria can often be attributed to mental illness, which
  176. 13:28caused by these same traumas.
  177. 13:31Well, and forgive me for jumping in here.
  178. 13:33And by the way, folks, the precipitating factors, they're often called antecedent factors.
  179. 13:39I learned when I was in a master's program from a prof from UCLA medical school, but
  180. 13:47hey, time fleets away, Dr. Vornum, tell us briefly if you would about the debunked videos.
  181. 13:53Folks, these are like broadcast quality.
  182. 13:56I've seen so many of these.
  183. 13:59Carl Kirby and so many of the staff like, you know, evolution is true, no debunked.
  184. 14:04How can people, Dr. Varunam, find the debunked videos?
  185. 14:10Well, they are available through our Reasons for Hope website,
  186. 14:15our soh.com, as well as our free downloadable app.
  187. 14:22Just look up Reasons for Hope on your App Store.
  188. 14:25But the bunk videos are three to five minutes,
  189. 14:29very fast paced videos that address
  190. 14:33I must use hot button issues and I hope to protect them.
  191. 14:36Kids love them.
  192. 14:37Hey, forgive me.
  193. 14:38I'm sorry to jump in there, but we've got to pull out for a break.
  194. 14:40We'll get you back soon.
  195. 14:42Folks, Alex McFarland on the American Family Radio Network.
  196. 14:45Stay tuned.
  197. 14:46Jonathan signs from the Texas House of Representatives.
  198. 14:50Talk a little bit about politics in the upcoming election.
  199. 14:52Stay tuned.
  200. 14:53The Hamilton corner is back after this.
  201. 14:59I'd like to take a minute and have a heart to heart with you.
  202. 15:01If you're able, place your hand over your heart.
  203. 15:04Can you feel it?
  204. 15:06My strong heartbeat reminds me that I'm alive.
  205. 15:09See, it's the same for an unborn baby.
  206. 15:12The heart begins to form at conception,
  207. 15:15and at just three weeks is already beating.
  208. 15:18At five weeks, a baby's heart can be heard
  209. 15:20on an ultrasound.
  210. 15:22That's where preborn steps in,
  211. 15:23rescuing 200 babies every day from abortion
  212. 15:27by simply providing a mother with a free ultrasound
  213. 15:30and allowing her to hear her child's heartbeat
  214. 15:34and see their perfectly formed body in the womb.
  215. 15:38By six weeks eyes are forming.
  216. 15:40By 10 weeks, a baby is able to suck his or her thumb.
  217. 15:44Preborn needs our help to save these precious babies.
  218. 15:48For just $28, you could be the difference
  219. 15:50between the life or death of a baby.
  220. 15:54All gifts are tax deductible to donate,
  221. 15:57just dial pound 250 and say the key word baby.
  222. 16:00That's pound 250, baby.
  223. 16:03or donate securely at preborn.com.
  224. 16:05That's preborn.com.
  225. 16:14Shining light into the darkness,
  226. 16:16this is the Hamilton Corner, an American family radio.
  227. 16:20Welcome back to the program.
  228. 16:22You know, it's been a great summer because,
  229. 16:24and I want to say by the way, thanks for all
  230. 16:26that have been praying for me.
  231. 16:27We've done seven youth camps this summer,
  232. 16:30and then I spoke at a couple of others,
  233. 16:31and we have another youth camp,
  234. 16:33and we have had over 150 teenagers pray to get saved,
  235. 16:38to put their faith in Jesus Christ.
  236. 16:40And you know, at our camps, we say the Pledge of Allegiance.
  237. 16:44We teach kids not only about the gospel,
  238. 16:46but about America and why we should care about America.
  239. 16:49And I just wanna say a big, big thank you
  240. 16:52to the really dozens of emails I've got in the summer
  241. 16:56from AFA listeners, people say,
  242. 16:58hey Alex, we're praying for your camps.
  243. 17:00And so I give God the glory.
  244. 17:01And then one of the very special things
  245. 17:03that I got to experience this summer,
  246. 17:06I was at the RNC in Milwaukee, Wisconsin,
  247. 17:08the Republican National Convention,
  248. 17:10met a lot of people,
  249. 17:12had a wonderful couple of conversations
  250. 17:15with people like Eric Trump and Laura Trump
  251. 17:17and a lot of people, but from Texas,
  252. 17:20I met an attorney, an elected official, a leader,
  253. 17:26president of Texas values Jonathan, signs, Esquire.
  254. 17:31Texas values is a nonprofit group
  255. 17:33led to preserving and advancing family values in the state of Texas.
  256. 17:38And I just found him to be very, very insightful, absolutely well informed individual on everything
  257. 17:46related to God and country.
  258. 17:48And he's been very gracious and accessible.
  259. 17:51And I wanted to bring him on to talk about a number of things, but just one of the blessings
  260. 17:55of this summer being at the RNC and meeting Jonathan signs his website is TX values.org
  261. 18:04as in Texas TX values.org. Sir, thank you for being with us again and welcome back to the
  262. 18:12American Family Radio Network. Hey, Alex, it's good to be back with you. You know, I enjoyed
  263. 18:17our time together at the RNC as well. Yeah, you know, several people, I know three weeks
  264. 18:23have gone by and I don't want people to miss this. Everybody asked me what was that event
  265. 18:28like. To me it felt like a revival meeting. I mean didn't you think that there was just
  266. 18:34some energy and just joy everywhere you turn it seemed like people were praying and I felt
  267. 18:41like I'm just going to say it. The Holy Spirit was in that place energizing the hearts and
  268. 18:49minds of people. Did you feel that way? Absolutely. And I think it's very accurate to say that
  269. 18:56there was a spiritual awakening and it was a spiritual experience being there. You know,
  270. 19:01I'd never participated as a delegate at the RNC. I did this year was my first time, but in 2016,
  271. 19:07I was at the RNC. It was a little different vibe, so to speak that year, because Trump did not
  272. 19:14secure the nominee. Well, he had just secured the nomination. A lot of people from Texas were still
  273. 19:19adjusting to the fact that senator cruises campaign for president was ending
  274. 19:24and so it's a different environment but i also think we were just
  275. 19:28two days after
  276. 19:29one of our president almost died
  277. 19:32by the shot and bullet of an assassin i mean so
  278. 19:36for i think that issue is very raw at that moment to write a month to just forty
  279. 19:41eight hours i mean i got on a plane
  280. 19:43less than twenty four hours after
  281. 19:46our president was almost dead and i think president because i know that
  282. 19:50trump is running for president
  283. 19:52but let's not forget he previously was the president of united states yes tell me
  284. 19:57the last time that we had a president or former president assassinated or even
  285. 20:03shot i mean you have to go back to ragan
  286. 20:05and that was what you know forty years ago if not forty five
  287. 20:09and um so for most people they have no connection or
  288. 20:14awareness and so I think that was allowing a lot of people to check their own faith and
  289. 20:19go where am I with my own faith where I'm in my life because in a moment it could change
  290. 20:25and not just you and I and the people there president Trump was experiencing that as well.
  291. 20:29When we heard him speak a couple of times before he took the big stage you could just the emotion
  292. 20:36and you know the the realness and the fragility you know the fragileness of all that was hard
  293. 20:43for him to mask in any way, but I think it allowed people to see him in more so as this
  294. 20:49real person, this human person, just like them.
  295. 20:54I do think that's one of the reasons that God's name was mentioned.
  296. 20:59The name of Jesus was mentioned so often, every single day, and so many different speeches,
  297. 21:05and so on.
  298. 21:06don't like it when tragedy
  299. 21:10you know it relates to or as a response to people
  300. 21:13talk more about their faith but
  301. 21:15uh... we wouldn't
  302. 21:16design it that way
  303. 21:19itself okay to rejoice
  304. 21:21that people are seeking the lord more after that instead of going the opposite
  305. 21:26direction
  306. 21:27yeah uh...
  307. 21:28well and we need to seek the lord because um...
  308. 21:32i believe but i i want you to articulate uh... why
  309. 21:36you believe this if you believe and I'm sure you do.
  310. 21:39This, I know we always say this, but folks,
  311. 21:42this election in just 85 days is,
  312. 21:45I believe the most consequential,
  313. 21:48most significant election of our lifetime.
  314. 21:52Why do you think so much hangs in the balance?
  315. 21:55And what about our future is up for grabs right now, Jonathan?
  316. 22:01Well, look, there's a lot of tension,
  317. 22:02there's a lot of crisis going on in America
  318. 22:06And because of social media and the explosion of technology
  319. 22:10and everybody's got a video camera on their phone,
  320. 22:13we're able to see more of that.
  321. 22:14Sometimes for good reasons and sometimes it can be tough
  322. 22:17to see all those different things.
  323. 22:19But there's no doubt the evidence is all over the place.
  324. 22:21I was in BC the week after the RNC
  325. 22:25just a few steps away from Union Station.
  326. 22:27When it was attacked by some pro-Hamas, pro-teras,
  327. 22:31everyone had described these people that were trying to
  328. 22:35crop up the uh... the aggressiveness of of palestine and they were
  329. 22:39saying a lot of negative things about america they were burning the american
  330. 22:42flag several american flags right
  331. 22:44they did all kinds of damage
  332. 22:46to some property and some
  333. 22:48you know uh...
  334. 22:49some monuments and around union stations and things that we care about better
  335. 22:54clear symbol some of them were sort of smaller versions of things like a
  336. 22:57liberty bell and
  337. 22:58and so on that we hold your
  338. 22:59in this was in a protest you know and i don't think people should be burning
  339. 23:02the american flag
  340. 23:04but this is different than somebody saying I'm exercising my concern with America.
  341. 23:08It's one thing to say,
  342. 23:09America needs to get better.
  343. 23:10They're saying death to America.
  344. 23:12This is an act of aggression.
  345. 23:14This is an act of war almost.
  346. 23:16That was just a few steps earlier.
  347. 23:18I was in that space with two of my kids,
  348. 23:20because they were with me on this trip for some conferences at DC.
  349. 23:24I was at the speakers office and out on the speakers balcony,
  350. 23:28and Washington DC later that night.
  351. 23:31But it's all around us.
  352. 23:32and we and look i mean that the byton
  353. 23:35seem like you know he might have been in his own last day because of his health
  354. 23:39i think that that has made america look weak other country i fear have sort of
  355. 23:44capitalized on that
  356. 23:46uh... not to mention
  357. 23:47the sexuality and in transgender and all these different explosions of things
  358. 23:52are kids being
  359. 23:53you know have anything shoved in their face
  360. 23:56uh... so often
  361. 23:57i think uh... you know has really brought a lot of people
  362. 24:01You know, on the left, if you will, it's not even a matter of issue of right and left, it's about common sense.
  363. 24:06But I will tell you, personally, this election has felt like it's meant more to me because I'm closer to the process than I ever been.
  364. 24:16And I've been involved in this work in this space for 20 years, but I've been a little bit more closer for some of the work I've done recently.
  365. 24:22But also, my oldest son is going to be voting for the first time in November, just graduated from high school,
  366. 24:28moving away for college soon and you know I'm trying to see it from his eyes and his perspective
  367. 24:35and it's made me even more concerned about you know if you will the world that I'm sort of putting in his
  368. 24:40hands or that he's walking into and you know I'm just like a lot of people I'm very concerned
  369. 24:45and so I think there's a lot riding on this election. Oh yeah I mean for real and you know I'm concerned
  370. 24:52that pastors, for one thing, pastors that speak every week into the lives of 120 million adults,
  371. 25:00pastors could be doing more to inform and motivate their people. And I'm concerned that they're not
  372. 25:08talk to it for a second if you would, either spiritually, politically, just from any vantage
  373. 25:16point you choose what do you think is going to happen come November I mean
  374. 25:22well I'll go ahead go ahead no that's fine I appreciate it mean to interrupt you
  375. 25:28Alex look Texas values is a Christian organization so everything we do comes
  376. 25:33from that perspective as a Judeo-Christian organization and those are my
  377. 25:38personal beliefs as well and you know we put principle over policy we put
  378. 25:43principle over politics. But that doesn't mean that Christians don't have a role to play, right? We
  379. 25:49have a very important role to play. And so, you know, we don't pledge allegiance to one particular
  380. 25:56party or electric official, but we have no problem letting people know what the differences are and
  381. 26:01how clear the choice I feel like is this election cycle, not only at the presidential level,
  382. 26:06but up and down the ballot, right? Now, we have a separate organization, Texas Values Action,
  383. 26:10that's a 501c4. We've endorsed President Trump. We endorsed him quite a long time ago,
  384. 26:15making it clear and letting our friends and so on know. We also have a great resource
  385. 26:20called iVoterGuide.com. If you go to that website iVoterGuide.com, you can buy great information,
  386. 26:25and we're partners with American Family Association on that project.
  387. 26:29Amen.
  388. 26:29But we see it all around us, Alex. We see the attendance and churches going down.
  389. 26:35I get a call from a state-based media every year around February asking me what I think
  390. 26:41about the fact that the new data is out that less people are going to church.
  391. 26:45But look, I'm at the Capitol all the time in our state Capitol and it's very true.
  392. 26:51Government belongs to those who show up.
  393. 26:53So if we want to make a difference, we have to show up at the ballot box.
  394. 26:57But if we're not hearing it from pastors, if we're not hearing it from our church leaders,
  395. 27:02where are Christians more likely to hear it?
  396. 27:04So we've got some great tools on that website, ivoterguide.com, what your legal rights are,
  397. 27:09how it's legal to have a voters guide, to have candidates come to events to talk about
  398. 27:15their differences, to just make a pulpit announcement, right?
  399. 27:18That says there's an election coming up in a couple of weeks, you know, look at the difference
  400. 27:23between the two parties and the candidates.
  401. 27:24Or to hold a prayer meeting.
  402. 27:26The Bible says, that's right.
  403. 27:27I have a prayer meeting.
  404. 27:29We have, we've had several events like that where we've had elected officials on both sides
  405. 27:33the I also speak that we prayed over.
  406. 27:35And let me just say this to every pastor, every church member, every church staff member, look,
  407. 27:41I'm an ordained minister. I've pastored two churches. I've spoken in 2000. I worked for
  408. 27:46the North American Mission Board. Jonathan, pastors have said to me, they'll say,
  409. 27:50oh, but I can't do it. It's against the law. No, it isn't. It is not against the law for you to
  410. 27:56to get in your pulpit and talk about what the Word of God says about life, marriage, morals,
  411. 28:03the nation of Israel.
  412. 28:05But even if it were against the law, which it's not, since when do you only proclaim God's
  413. 28:11truth if it placates sinners?
  414. 28:16I mean, I feel like the pastors need to speak and motivate people.
  415. 28:23Or one thing, your vote is a stewardship issue, really.
  416. 28:27And the Apostle Paul, he would use the recourse of his Roman citizenship when it was necessary.
  417. 28:35When it was useful and beneficial, he would leverage his Roman citizenry.
  418. 28:42So don't you think to vote and to talk about these issues, that's just legitimately legally
  419. 28:49using the recourse that we have here in this
  420. 28:54we hope free republic
  421. 28:57but you're absolutely right you know i've been like the practice law in the state of
  422. 29:00texas for over twenty years my work has been primarily focused on the type of
  423. 29:05issues
  424. 29:06constitutional issues religious freedom and a lot of that work has been dedicated
  425. 29:10to letting pastors and church leaders know how strong the protections are that
  426. 29:15exist for them to talk about elections
  427. 29:17to even talk about the differences in the candidates
  428. 29:20to mention them by name if they choose to have a vince where they raise awareness
  429. 29:25to have a voter registration drive at your church there are so many things
  430. 29:30that churches can do now that we respect the right of churches decide
  431. 29:33what they want to do into what level but they should be doing something right
  432. 29:37decide what fits best
  433. 29:38and please do not step back
  434. 29:40from these issues
  435. 29:41and uh... making people aware of uh... this critical election because you think
  436. 29:46you're gonna face a lawsuit
  437. 29:47it just doesn't happen now there will be threats from time to time
  438. 29:51from groups like americans united for separation church and state and others
  439. 29:54if you get one of those letters please call us email us
  440. 29:58we'll back you up or will connect you with the group in your state
  441. 30:01or folks like a line-defending freedom and first liberty institute to get that
  442. 30:05protection
  443. 30:05because none of those
  444. 30:07things that ever go to court and if they do the church always wins
  445. 30:10there's just no evidence of it but but we see those intimidation tactics
  446. 30:14all the time. So I understand how some churches may think or feel that way, but the reality
  447. 30:19is the legal protections that churches and pastors, church leaders have to talk about the
  448. 30:24elections to make people aware of it in so many ways is strong and robust. But you've
  449. 30:29got to exercise that right. And we need to turn out from Christians at a very high level
  450. 30:36because we're missing things. I'd say President Trump mentioned this at RNC. They did a private
  451. 30:43showing for a documentary that's coming out about him and some of his history and he mentioned
  452. 30:48that.
  453. 30:49How strong of a voting block, the Christians are, the Christian conservatives and so on and
  454. 30:56how valuable that can be and it can be a difference maker.
  455. 31:01Look, the presidential year's turnout is always higher because more people are paying attention
  456. 31:07and there's more things going on to make people aware of it.
  457. 31:11We have an opportunity to raise that level even more, right?
  458. 31:14And we do have people move around more, people forget to, you know, to update their registration.
  459. 31:19And so, but if you go to iVotarguide.com, a lot of information about churches and elections
  460. 31:25and your rights, if you're in the state of Texas, our website is TXValue.org.
  461. 31:30It'll also work if you type in Texas values.org.
  462. 31:33We've got a lot of great resources.
  463. 31:35We can come out to your church or come to your event.
  464. 31:37We can send you some videos or some one-pagers, so you make sure you have the right information
  465. 31:41So you can be that leader in your community, in your congregation, and from your pulpit,
  466. 31:47and be confident that you've got legal protection when you do this.
  467. 31:50World view issues aside, just skills, competency, intellect.
  468. 31:55You think Kamala Harris has what it takes to be the president?
  469. 31:59I do not.
  470. 32:01I think that, you know, I think it's fine to acknowledge that if you're in those positions,
  471. 32:09You're gonna have, you're gonna work hard.
  472. 32:11You're gonna have to work hard.
  473. 32:12So I don't doubt that she would put effort
  474. 32:15into whatever position she's in if she were to be elected,
  475. 32:20but I'm not confident that she would do the job
  476. 32:22the way we need it.
  477. 32:23And you're talking about the president of the United States.
  478. 32:25I mean, this is the most visible, arguably the most powerful,
  479. 32:30the most focused on political position
  480. 32:33and elected position in the world.
  481. 32:35And really in many ways, in all of history,
  482. 32:38I mean, the significance that America and our culture has had is hard to compare to anything
  483. 32:44else.
  484. 32:45Forgive me, we're almost out of time.
  485. 32:47Jonathan signs of Texas values.
  486. 32:49Thank you so much.
  487. 32:50We've got to pull away.
  488. 32:51This is Alex McFarland, the American Family Radio Network.
  489. 32:54Stay tuned more after this brief break.
  490. 32:57On the Hamilton Corner, don't go away.
  491. 32:59We're back after this.
  492. 33:07Deuteronomy 6 verses 4 through 8 direct us to display scripture in our homes and other
  493. 33:13faces. It says you should decorate with the Word of God and that you are to fill your hearts and
  494. 33:19minds with these words. There's no greater cause than for those of us who know Christ to share him
  495. 33:24and God's Word. Get the full article God's Word on display by Joseph Parker on the stand.net
  496. 33:31and join the movement to put God's Word on display at 10laws.us.
  497. 33:49the Hamilton Corner on American Family Radio.
  498. 33:54Welcome back to the program, Alex McFarland here.
  499. 33:56So, I wanted that you're listening.
  500. 33:57What a privilege to be able to spend a few moments
  501. 34:01with you this evening.
  502. 34:02Hey, by the way, I've got a very special colleague and friend
  503. 34:05that I want to bring to the mic.
  504. 34:06But before I do, I want to remind everybody,
  505. 34:08please tell your friends about curiousaboutChrist.com.
  506. 34:15Like I said, we've got, well, Thursday, August 15
  507. 34:19in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, one of America's number one resort cities, Myrtle Beach. We have
  508. 34:25got two evangelistic events. We've rented two theaters and we're going to be sharing the gospel.
  509. 34:32Right now, even as we speak, I've got airplanes going up and down the coast,
  510. 34:35we'll flying these banners, curious about Christ. Question mark, because studies show that like
  511. 34:42almost nine out of ten people are asking questions like this.
  512. 34:47These are among the most googled searches since COVID.
  513. 34:52Is there life after death?
  514. 34:54What happens when we die?
  515. 34:56Does God exist?
  516. 34:57So if you would, number one, pray for us because we're going to be sharing the gospel, how to
  517. 35:02be born again, how to be saved.
  518. 35:04But we're hoping people will come out and they'll go to the website curious about Christ and
  519. 35:10They'll get answers to their questions about their soul, about Jesus, and about eternity.
  520. 35:17Well, right now I want to change gears a little bit and bring on someone who really for 20
  521. 35:23years, he's been a friend for 20 years, but really more than anybody else in the last two
  522. 35:28decades of my life has been a mentor in terms of leadership and in terms of effective outreach
  523. 35:35within the local church.
  524. 35:36His name is Dr. Mark Cowart.
  525. 35:38the pastor of church for all nations, just one of the great churches.
  526. 35:42And I want you to be aware of this church because people are always asking me, I mean,
  527. 35:47literally I get this email every week, you know, Alex, our church is not growing. What
  528. 35:51can we do? How can we have a children's ministry? How can we reach millennials and younger?
  529. 35:58And I love to recommend there are a lot of good churches around America, but one, they're
  530. 36:03just doing it. I mean, God is using them. They're doing everything with excellence. They are
  531. 36:08literally equipping the saints for the work of the ministry as Ephesians foretells us to do.
  532. 36:13It's Church for all nations. Their website is spelled just like it sounds. ChurchForAllNations.com.
  533. 36:22Incredible people led by Pastor Mark Cowart. And he is with us now. Pastor Mark, thanks for
  534. 36:28making time to be with us on the American Family Radio Network.
  535. 36:32As always, it is so good to be with you, my brother. I love our time together.
  536. 36:38Well, I appreciate you so much and I love to try. I urge people to make a trip to one of your campuses
  537. 36:46and just observe and you don't mind it if people watch what you guys are doing and take it home and
  538. 36:53replicate it. Yeah, I guess the old saying imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. You don't mind that, do you?
  539. 37:00Not at all. You can log on and watch us. Everything we do is archived. And so if it comes from the Lord, it belongs to everybody.
  540. 37:10Amen. Amen. Hey, I want to get into, you've got a conference coming up, but before I do, you and I talk about which way the wind blows spiritually.
  541. 37:23Is America in the midst of a spiritual battle right now, in your opinion?
  542. 37:29I believe it is, Brother Alex, one of the most intense and critical we've ever been in to
  543. 37:38date.
  544. 37:40I believe that there are things we could even learn from history that give us indicators.
  545. 37:47We're in a very precarious situation.
  546. 37:49You know, I'm sure you've heard this where the word crisis, the Asian word for it, means
  547. 37:54dangerous opportunity and I believe that we are facing unprecedented danger but I also think we're
  548. 38:02facing unprecedented opportunity and you know our good friend mutual friend Bill Federer says in
  549. 38:11times of crisis people turn to Christ and we are seeing things but we are also in the midst of a
  550. 38:19of a great awakening. And there are things that are in front of us. And so it is a dangerous
  551. 38:25time, but it's a very exciting time. And there's unprecedented opportunity.
  552. 38:30So, I feel like when it comes down to issues and the political divide could not be more
  553. 38:39clear. I mean, we're talking about life, marriage, our relationship with the nation of Israel,
  554. 38:45families being able to keep the money they earn, the rights of parents, and now gender and should children be coached into mutilating their body without the parents consent.
  555. 38:59I mean, it's not hard for a rational adult to see its darkness versus light.
  556. 39:07So that being said, what would you like to see churches doing the next?
  557. 39:14We've got 85 days.
  558. 39:16The future of our country is going to be decided in an election, 85 days from now.
  559. 39:23What should the 350,000 American churches be doing?
  560. 39:30Well, in this case, America is a nation blessed above all others.
  561. 39:36others. I'm quick to add that that doesn't make us better than anyone. But it does give
  562. 39:42us a greater responsibility. And we're blessed to be born in America and many that may be
  563. 39:48listening are citizens of America. And what we need to do is go back to our origins, our
  564. 39:55beginnings, and how our nation was birthed. We are a Christian nation. And yet we're acting
  565. 40:04like a post-Christian nation, but because of our founders
  566. 40:09and the covenants that were made, the trust in the Lord,
  567. 40:12so back to your question, what should we be doing?
  568. 40:16Well, you and I've talked about this a lot.
  569. 40:19You know, there is something that I didn't know
  570. 40:21about till probably 10 or 15 years ago
  571. 40:23called the Black Rogue Regiment.
  572. 40:24I had no idea what that was.
  573. 40:27I thought it could be judges, they were Black robes,
  574. 40:29but I found out it was a backhanded comment
  575. 40:33by the British against the clergy of the day
  576. 40:36when the war for independence broke out.
  577. 40:39And basically what they were saying,
  578. 40:42if it hadn't been for the Black-Roe Benjamin,
  579. 40:44we'd have won this war.
  580. 40:46And historians, as you know, came along later secular
  581. 40:51and said had pastors, preachers, and clergy not preached,
  582. 40:57there never would have been a revolution.
  583. 40:59And then they determined if the revolution
  584. 41:02had somehow broken out, it wouldn't have been sustainable without the involvement of pastors
  585. 41:08and preachers. Now, brother, I'm a pastor. I love pastors. I also understand the unique world that
  586. 41:16they live in. So I have compassion, but we have a clergy. We have a pastor in this era that are
  587. 41:24afraid to speak up on issues that the Bible is very explicit about and very clear. And I believe
  588. 41:32is the church goes, so goes the nation, but it's the pastor goes, so goes the church. And so,
  589. 41:38so then he's got to get back to the work. Very good. Say it again, please. Yeah, as the church goes,
  590. 41:44so goes the nation, but as the pastor goes, so goes the church. And you know, in Revelation,
  591. 41:52in the first three chapters, there's letters written to the seven churches.
  592. 41:56And basically it says to the angel of the church of Ephesus, to the angel of the church and calls out all these
  593. 42:04different ones. Actually, that is to the pastors because, you know, there's, there's affirmation of the good that the churches were
  594. 42:13doing, but there was also rebuke and five of the seven of those churches were in trouble with the Lord.
  595. 42:19And so for instance, he rebuked one because he said,
  596. 42:24you've let that spirit of Jezebel in,
  597. 42:27which is sexual immorality.
  598. 42:29Well, an angel can't allow that in a church.
  599. 42:31It's a pastor that allows that.
  600. 42:33He rebuked the church at Laodicea for being lukewarm.
  601. 42:37An angel can't be lukewarm.
  602. 42:40Pastors can be.
  603. 42:42So brother, we've got to get back to our foundations.
  604. 42:45And it's to the word because the scripture tells us
  605. 42:47in the Old Covenant, the Lord sends his word to what?
  606. 42:51Heal us and deliver us from our destruction.
  607. 42:55Amen.
  608. 42:56Second Chronicles 714, if my people,
  609. 43:00which we call by my name, shall humble themselves and pray
  610. 43:03and seek my faith and turn from their wicked ways,
  611. 43:07then he'll heal our land and forgive our sin.
  612. 43:10Amen.
  613. 43:11If you're just tuning in folks, Alex McFarland here,
  614. 43:13we're talking with Pastor Mark Cowart
  615. 43:14from churchforallnations.com.
  616. 43:17Hey, September 15 through 19,
  617. 43:19there's a conference they're doing called
  618. 43:21equipping for the days ahead.
  619. 43:23Now folks, I'm gonna let Dr. Cowert tell you what that is,
  620. 43:27but I wanna say having been to Colorado Springs
  621. 43:30a thousand times, probably.
  622. 43:33It is super easy to navigate.
  623. 43:35I'm saying this because maybe you wanna go to this conference.
  624. 43:38Maybe you wanna see one of the churches in America
  625. 43:40that God is using in a mighty way.
  626. 43:43Angie and I have been there countless times, so we really consider it our home church in
  627. 43:48the western states.
  628. 43:50But September 15 through 19 equipping for the days ahead, it would be worth your while.
  629. 43:57Fly to Colorado Springs, the church is 10 minutes from the airport, or if you even fly
  630. 44:02into Denver, it's just an hour.
  631. 44:04I've been there super easy to get in, get out, you will not be disappointed.
  632. 44:10Pastor Mark, tell us about this conference.
  633. 44:12September 15th through 19, what is equipping for the days ahead?
  634. 44:19Well, I am particularly excited because I believe the Lord has really directed us to do this.
  635. 44:26And I am one of those, Alex, that I had felt like the last thing we need is another conference.
  636. 44:33Because, you know, I've been to so many and we get excited, we get riled up,
  637. 44:38but then what does it translate into?
  638. 44:41Does it translate into action?
  639. 44:44Is there fruit that'll be born?
  640. 44:45I'm convinced this will be,
  641. 44:49but basically I have had an urgency
  642. 44:53and a concern in my spirit, my heart,
  643. 44:56very troubled between now and the election.
  644. 45:00And I believe there are some very evil and wicked plans.
  645. 45:05Now you and I know we're not wrestling against flesh
  646. 45:08blood, but against principalities, powers, rubles of the darkness of this world. So it's difficult,
  647. 45:14and it takes the Holy Spirit to recognize people are not our enemies, but we're in a battle right
  648. 45:21now, and this next election is going to determine some very serious things for good or for evil.
  649. 45:29And so we believe people need to be equipped, and we have begun to pray at another level here,
  650. 45:35church for all nations. And so, by the way, everything I'm talking about, you can go to churchforallnations.com. That's our church website.
  651. 45:45Slash conference. There's no charge for this conference, but you must register. I'll kick it off Sunday morning, September the 15th.
  652. 45:56And I'll be talking about prayer because Mark 11 17,
  653. 46:00Jesus said, my house shall be called a house of prayer
  654. 46:03for all nations, but he said, you made it a den of thieves.
  655. 46:07And that word thieves in the great means to pirate something.
  656. 46:11In other words, use it for something other
  657. 46:13than what God intended.
  658. 46:14And then that evening we'll have guest speakers
  659. 46:18and we have an incredible lineup.
  660. 46:20We have Bill Federer, our mutual dear friend.
  661. 46:23Amen.
  662. 46:24He, and you, you preach for us many times, brother.
  663. 46:28So you know these pastor Calvin Johnson.
  664. 46:31Oh, yes.
  665. 46:32My dear, dear brother, we have a retired general Kurt Ford.
  666. 46:37He happens to be a member of church for all nations,
  667. 46:40but he's very close friends with our mutual friend,
  668. 46:43General Jerry Boynton.
  669. 46:44General Boynton.
  670. 46:45And he's a man of God.
  671. 46:46Yeah.
  672. 46:47And general for a hero, American hero,
  673. 46:51fought for our country, was inducted into the Ranger Hall of Fame in the United States Army.
  674. 46:58I have also Fred Market, we have him coming. One of the most strategic minds that I know
  675. 47:06concerning the Great Commission, and I think I told you this, yeah, I'll actually offer to him a PhD. If he
  676. 47:13He would write a paper on the unipolar, multipolar, bipolar world.
  677. 47:19He's going to talk about this because he had to read over 600 books, but in 6,000 years
  678. 47:25of history, we've only been at the place we're at right now 26 times.
  679. 47:33And the safest world and place to preach a gospel was a unipolar world, a single superpower
  680. 47:40like the United States. Yes. But right now we're hanging in the balance and we don't know how close
  681. 47:46we are. So Fred will be talking about that to the strongest prophetic voices I know.
  682. 47:53My dear friend Ed Trout and my good friend Joseph Z. And it's like the Lord hand picked these people.
  683. 48:02And then we've got special worship by Melody Noel and she's going to be leaving worship the entire
  684. 48:09time. So we kick it off Sunday morning. We're having morning and evening meetings. And there's
  685. 48:14no charge now Sunday morning. That'll be our regular church service and conference attendees.
  686. 48:19But I'll kick it off from the evening on. They need to be registered and they can go do that.
  687. 48:24And there's no charge whatsoever for it. Wonderful. You know, I'm excited. Right now I'm thinking,
  688. 48:30I got to look on my calendar and see if I can attend folks. Alex here and so glad you're listening
  689. 48:35to the American Family Radio Network, our very special colleague and friend, Dr. Mark
  690. 48:39Cowart, churchforallnations.com slash event, the equipping for the days ahead.
  691. 48:47Look, I don't know if you know all these names.
  692. 48:49This is Power House and an election is coming, our future is before us.
  693. 48:54We must pray.
  694. 48:55And we're almost out of time.
  695. 48:56Pastor Mark, thank you and I look forward to when you and I can visit again very soon.
  696. 49:02Thank you, Brother Alex.
  697. 49:03God bless again the September 15th through 19th equipping for the days ahead.
  698. 49:07Let me encourage you pray for our nation, stay bold, stand strong, influence people, tell somebody
